Izturis hopes to be activated soon, perhaps as early as this weekend. "I am very close. I am here with the team and am taking batting practice and groundballs [Friday] and will go day-by-day and see how I feel," Izturis said. "I think I feel great. So it's up to them to make a decision." Izturis has been out since mid-May.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday that Cesar Izturis may need surgery on his right elbow.
Izturis has been dealing with nerve irritation in his right elbow that has caused numbness in his hand. "Dr. Wilckens didn't like what he saw," said Showalter. "They may have to go in there and remove the nerve. They did an MRI, so we'll have a better idea of what it is. He wants to see exactly what the MRI shows." Izturis is expected to be placed on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
