Sun Jun 10 201218:23Wedge: Millwood's status to be announced Tue.
Mariners manager Eric Wedge said the club will update Kevin Millwood's (groin) status on Tuesday.
Millwood suffered the injury six frames into a combined no-hitter against the Dodgers on Friday. His next start is scheduled for Thursday against the Padres. Seattle is listing that day's starter as TBD until Millwood can give them a thumbs up or down on Tuesday. "We'll let him play catch today and work through tomorrow, then see where he is on Tuesday," Wedge said. "He said he felt pretty good, but we've got some leeway with the off-day [on Monday]. We could push him back a couple days." Jason Vargas and Blake Beavan could each be pushed up a day if Millwood needs to be pushed back until Saturday.

Sun Jun 10 201211:03Kevin Millwood won't need DL stint
Kevin Millwood (groin) is not expected to need a stint on the disabled list.
Millwood's groin injury cost him a chance at a no-hitter, but at least it's not too serious. "We're optimistic," manager Eric Wedge said. "Kevin even played catch (Saturday)." With an off day Monday, the Mariners can give the veteran some extra rest.

Sat Jun 9 201200:16Millwood leaves no-hitter with strained groin
Kevin Millwood was diagnosed with a mild groin strain.
Millwood suffered the injury six frames into a potential no-hitter against the Dodgers and had to be pulled from a shot at history. The M's seem to think the strain is minor, but the veteran righty could need a stint on the disabled list anyway. He has a 3.57 ERA in 70 2/3 innings.

Mon May 28 201222:46Millwood only goes five
Kevin Millwood gave up just one run but only made it through five innings in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
He gave up four hits and walked two while striking out five, but with his pitch count up to 97, manager Eric Wedge yanked him early. All things considered, it's a pretty good outing given that he was facing the Rangers in Texas. The veteran righty has allowed just two runs over his last four starts to push his ERA down to 3.56. He'll face the White Sox this weekend.

Fri May 18 201223:20Millwood tosses first shutout since 2003
Kevin Millwood tossed his first complete game in nearly nine years as part of a 4-0 win over the Rockies on Friday night.
Millwood, who made nine starts for the Rockies last year, gave up just two singles while striking out seven and walking one. It was the sixth complete game shutout of his career and his first since August 1, 2003. The 37-year-old right-hander now owns a 4.17 ERA through his first eight starts this season. We'd steer clear of him in all fantasy leagues with a start against the Rangers on tap next week.

Sun May 13 201216:27Millwood out-duels Pettitte on Mother's Day
Kevin Millwood out-dueled Andy Pettitte in a Mother's Day battle of aging hurlers, holding the Yankees to just one run on three hits in seven innings of Seattle's 6-2 victory in Yankee Stadium.
He struck out six and walked four. Today was just the second time in seven outings that Millwood was able to complete seven innings of work, while it was the first time since April 11 he allowed fewer than three runs. Now 1-4 with a 5.09 ERA, he'll bring a 1.60 WHIP and 28/19 K/BB ratio into his Friday outing in Colorado. Keep him benched for that one.

Sat Apr 28 201218:55Millwood strong in loss to Blue Jays
Kevin Millwood turned in a very strong performance against the Blue Jays on Saturday, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits over seven innings of work.
Millwood fanned four and walked two in the game. This was his best performance of the young season, and should buy him at least a few more starts before they consider turning to Danny Hultzen to take his spot. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this strong start when he takes on the Rays in Tampa Bay next week.

Sun Apr 22 201220:14Kevin Millwood knocked around in loss
Kevin Millwood gave up five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.
Millwood's last two starts have come at Safeco, but he's given up a total of 11 earned runs in those outings. In this one, he yielded eight hits and walked two while striking out three. Considering Millwood will be 38 in December, there's reason for concern. He has to go to Toronto next time out.

Wed Apr 18 201201:23Kevin Millwood gets lit up in fifth inning
Kevin Millwood was charged with seven runs -- six earned -- in four-plus innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Indians.
Millwood was fine for four innings, allowing just one run, but after the Mariners scored six runs in a long bottom of the fourth, Millwood combined with two relievers to give up seven runs in the top of the fifth. A Brendan Ryan error certainly didn't help matters, but Millwood gave up hits to the other five hitters he faced in the inning. One of those was a three-run homer from Carlos Santana. Millwood is due to pitch in Detroit in his next start, so he won't be worth using in AL-only leagues.

Wed Apr 11 201223:46Millwood has solid M's debut
Kevin Millwood turned in a strong 2012/Mariners debut Wednesday, holding the Rangers to just one run on four hits and three walks in six innings of Seattle's 4-3 victory in Texas.
He struck out seven, and most encouragingly after being somewhat prone to the long-ball in recent seasons, served up zero home runs. It's far from a guarantee Millwood will remain in the Mariners rotation (or even in Seattle) for the remainder of the season, but he's worth an add in AL-only leagues.

Tue Mar 27 201200:37Mariners add Kevin Millwood to 40-man roster
Mariners purchased the contract of RHP Kevin Millwood.
Millwood is now officially on the M's 40-man roster. The veteran right-hander secured a rotation spot after posting a 3.21 ERA and 12/3 K/BB ratio over 14 innings his spring. The Mariners will likely infuse some youth in their rotation eventually, but Millwood has some value in AL-only leagues for now.

Tue Mar 20 201218:22Kevin Millwood holds down Reds
Kevin Millwood held down the Reds Tuesday, limiting them to one run on four hits while striking out five over five innings of work.
Millwood struggled in his first spring outing but has really found a groove since, allowing just two runs over his last 12 innings while boasting a 9/3 K/BB ratio. His spring ERA is down to 3.21, and he looks to have a good shot to nail down a spot at the end of the M's rotation.

Sat Mar 3 201220:39Kevin Millwood gives up three runs in loss
Kevin Millwood took a loss versus the A's after allowing three runs in two innings on Saturday.
Jonny Gomes homered off him. Millwood is favored to win a spot in Seattle's rotation after his fine finish with the Rockies last season, but since he's only on a minor league deal, the Mariners can cut him without any financial ramifications. He has to pitch well to make the team.

Mon Jan 23 201209:29Mariners sign Millwood to minor league deal
Mariners signed RHP Kevin Millwood to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invitation to spring training, where Millwood will battle Hisashi Iwakuma, Blake Beavan, Hector Noesi and Charlie Furbush for the final three spots in the Mariners' season-opening starting rotation. The veteran right-hander posted a surprising 3.98 ERA and 36/8 K/BB ratio in nine starts for the Rockies last season. Safeco Field could allow him to keep that pace.

Sun Jan 22 201217:59Report: Millwood signs minors deal with M's
Kevin Millwood has signed a minor league deal with the Mariners, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
Millwood was offered a $1 million contract by Colorado before the Winter Meetings but declined it in search of more guaranteed money. No word on how much money he can earn if he makes the major league roster. Prior to Millwood's deal, the Mariners' projected rotation included Felix Hernandez, Hisashi Iwakuma, Jason Vargas, Blake Beavan and Hector Noesi, with Charlie Furbush on the outside looking in. Millwood should slot in as the No. 4 starter, with Beavan and Noesi fighting for the last rotation slot. The loser would likely head to the bullpen. If both outperform Millwood, the veteran could be released or be asked to accept a demotion to Triple-A. Millwood, who turned 37 last month, posted a 3.98 ERA and 36/8 K/BB ratio over nine starts with the Rockies this past season. Manager Eric Wedge and pitching coach Carl Willis know Millwood from their time together in Cleveland. At SAFECO, playing in front of a good defense, the veteran could make for a deep sleeper in AL-only drafts.

Mon Jan 9 201208:59Rockies not expected to re-sign Millwood
The Rockies are not expected to re-sign Kevin Millwood.
Millwood was offered a $1 million contract by Colorado before the Winter Meetings but declined it in search of more guaranteed money. Now, with the Rockies having committed $2.75 million recently to Kevin Slowey, that offer is no longer on the table. Millwood should be able to find a suitor eventually. He posted a cool 3.98 ERA and 36/8 K/BB ratio over nine starts last season.

Thu Dec 29 201111:07Report: M's have interest in Kevin Millwood
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Mariners have interest in free agent Kevin Millwood.
The Mariners' projected rotation currently includes Felix Hernandez, Michael Pineda, Jason Vargas, Blake Beavan and Charllie Furbush, but Heyman hears that they are in the market for a veteran starting pitcher. Millwood, who turned 37 last week, posted a 3.98 ERA and 36/8 K/BB ratio over nine starts with the Rockies this past season. He'll likely want a major-league deal.

Sun Sep 25 201117:54Millwood dominates in final start of 2011
Kevin Millwood allowed one run -- none earned -- on three hits and one walk in seven innings on Sunday, improving to 4-3 in Colorado's 19-3 drubbing of the Astros.
He struck out six in his third quality start in five outings this month. Millwood also joined in the offensive fun by bashing a two-run homer in the sixth. The 36-year-old completes a bizarre 2011 season on a good note. He inked a minor league contract with the Yankees at the beginning of the season but failed to make it off the farm, then had a similar experience with the Red Sox. Things were different with the Rockies, however. After joining the rotation on August 10, Millwood went 4-3 with a 3.98 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 36/8 K/BB ratio over 54 1/3 innings. Millwood has likely ensured he'll be able to gain major league employment this offseason.

Tue Sep 20 201100:17Millwood roughed up by Padres
Kevin Millwood got shelled by the Padres on Monday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and two home runs in just 3 1/3 innings of a Rockies loss.
Aaron Cunningham and Cameron Maybin both tagged Millwood for two-run bombs in the fourth, with Maybin's shot knocking him out of the game. The outing was by far Millwood's shortest since joining the Rockies rotation on August 10. His final start of the season should come on Saturday in Houston. If he ends the year on two straight bad notes, he could find it a little harder to earn a chance to crack somebody's rotation next spring.
