Sat Jun 18 201110:51Sergio Escalona pitching well for 'Stros
Sergio Escalona has posted a 1.59 ERA and 0.97 WHIP while holding left-handed hitters to just two singles over 21 at-bats since being promoted in early May.
"He's getting outs," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "But it's how he's getting those outs. He's been able to throw strikes with both his fastball and his breaking ball. He's been able to keep those lefthanded hitters off-balance, so he's getting them out." The left-hander was acquired from the Phillies over the offseason in a deal Philly surely wishes they could take back with Escalona thriving and J.C. Romero getting designated for assignment.
