Manny Acosta earned his first save of the season on Wednesday with a scoreless 14th inning against the Astros.
It doesn't mean much. Hisanori Takahashi was relied on in the ninth inning as relief for R.A. Dickey and still appears to be the favorite for saves in New York. Acosta is having a nice season but is still a mediocre option.

As expected, he'll take the place of the injured Ryota Igarashi on the 25-man roster. Acosta, 28, was claimed off waivers from the Braves in March. He posted a 4.34 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and a 32/19 K/BB ratio in 37 1/3 innings with Atlanta last season. His control has been spotty over the years, but he'll provide Mets manager Jerry Manuel with another late-inning option out of the bullpen.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com, Manny Acosta is on his way to New York in case Ryota Igarashi (hamstring) needs to be placed on the disabled list.
Igarashi strained his left hamstring during Tuesday's game and was scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday. Acosta, 28, was claimed off waivers from the Braves in March. He has a 2.16 ERA in five relief appearances with Triple-A Buffalo this season.
