Infante (groin) remains out of the lineup Thursday, Fox Sports Kansas City's Matthew DeFranks reports.

Infante (groin) was able to run Wednesday and reported feeling at about 60 percent, Matthew DeFranks of Fox Sports Kansas City reports.
Infante also reported feeling much better Wednesday than he did Tuesday. He's still being held out of the lineup and may be out until the weekend, but it's an encouraging sign that the infielder is making progress and appears to not be in any danger of having to hit the disabled list.
Wed Apr 22 201515:44Infante (groin) not in lineup for Wednesday's game against Twins
Infante (groin) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante will stay out of the lineup for a third straight day after suffering a groin strain in Sunday's contest. He earlier reported that he expects to be back in the lineup later in the week, but for the time being Christian Colon will continue to fill in at second base in his stead.

Infante (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.
With Infante out of the lineup for a second straight day, Christian Colon will get another start at second base. Infante may not be out for much longer, as an MRI came back clean, and he said he expects to be available by the end of the week.

Infante (groin) reported everything came back clean after undergoing an MRI and expects to be back later in the week, Matthew DeFranks of Fox Sports Kansas City reports.
Infante suffered a groin strain in Sunday's contest, but it appears that he'll be back after only missing three or four days. Manager Ned Yost indicated that Infante could be available on an emergency basis Tuesday but is expected to take batting practice and should be able to return to full health by the end of the week.

Infante (groin) will not be placed on the DL and could be available Tuesday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante was forced out of Sunday's contest with a left groin strain and will be held out of the lineup Monday, but it appears he avoided a more serious ailment. If he is available Tuesday it will likely be off the bench, but at this point a return to the starting lineup later in the week seems possible.
Mon Apr 20 201515:14Infante (groin) not in lineup for Monday's game against Twins
Infante (groin) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.
Infante exited Sunday's contest with a left groin strain, and though the team is labeling him as day-to-day, he'll be held out of the lineup for at least one game. Christian Colon will man second base and bat seventh in his absence.
Sun Apr 19 201517:27Infante exited Sunday's game with left groin strain
Infante exited Sunday's game with a left groin strain, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Infante pulled up lame running the bases Sunday, and now the cause has been revealed. He's likely day-to-day at this point, but groin strains can result in a trip to the disabled list. The Royals will likely update his status at some point in the next couple days.

Infante left Sunday's game after appearing to injure himself while running the bases, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.
Infante was replaced in the game by Orlando Calixte, who will be making his MLB debut. With Alcides Escobar currently dealing with a knee injury, both Calixte and Christian Colon could see much more use than normal in the upcoming week's slate of games.
Thu Apr 16 201510:06Infante not in lineup Thursday
Infante is not in the lineup Thursday, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports.
He has a six-game hitting streak going, but he does not have any multi-hit games over that stretch. Christian Colon will get the start Thursday, but Infante should be back in the mix this weekend.
Mon Apr 6 201513:07Infante (elbow) in lineup for Opening Day on Monday
Infante (elbow) is in the lineup for Opening Day on Monday, batting ninth, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante had been suffering from some elbow inflammation in spring training, but it appears the issue has subsided enough that he's good to go. Assuming no setbacks occur, he should serve as the Royals' everyday second baseman this season.

Infante (elbow) went 3-for-3 with two doubles in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
Infante has been dealing with elbow inflammation nearly all spring, but has still appeared in four games since expressing doubt regarding his Opening Day availability over a week ago. He may not be 100 percent pain-free, but a .353/.361/.471 slash line over 34 spring at-bats suggests he may be able to play through the discomfort. If manager Ned Yost decides to give Infante regular rest during the early parts of the season, however, Christian Colon would be the leading candidate to see extra work.
Mon Mar 23 201519:14Infante having doubts that he'll be ready for Opening Day
Infante is having doubts that he'll be ready for Opening Day, Jeffrey Flanagan of Royals.com reports.
Infante has dealt with inflammation stemming from a bone spur in his right elbow throughout training camp. He's played in six training camp tilts but is apparently still dealing with some agitation and seems to be in doubt for April.

Infante is considering surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow after this season, MLB.com reports.
Pain and inflammation caused by the bone spur has affected Infante's abilities on the field for two-plus years, but the Royals opted against surgery earlier in the offseason and it sounds like Infante plans to tough it out again this year. "I'm thinking about it after this season -- right after this season," Infante said. "I want it to get better." Infante, who is entering the second season of a four-year, $30.25 million deal, was recently treated with a cortisone shot and could resume throwing activities Saturday. He has served as the Royals' designated hitter in spring action the past two days.

Infante (elbow) made his spring training debut Wednesday against the Reds, going 1-for-4 with a double and three groundouts.
Infante is on pace to be ready for the start of the season, but if the elbow becomes an issue again or his performance continues to decline, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Christian Colon pick up a few starts in his place.
Tue Mar 10 201516:10Infante (elbow) will resume throwing program Saturday
Infante (elbow) will resume his throwing program Saturday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante plans to serve as the designated hitter in Wednesday's spring contest, so the throwing issue won't keep him out of action entirely. The 33-year-old infielder has a target of 10 spring games that he hopes to play in before Opening Day, and if all continues to go well with the throwing program, he should be ready to resume a regular workload by then. If he suffers any setbacks along the way, Christian Colon would then be in line to make a run for extra reps. No ligament damage was revealed during Friday's MRI, however, suggesting little need to consider backup options just yet.
Sat Mar 7 201511:18Omar Infante: (Elbow) MRI Shows Bone Spur
Infante underwent an MRI on his right elbow Friday, which showed a bone spur but no ligament damage, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
With Infante complaining of pain in the elbow, similar to what he experienced last spring, the Royals scratched him from Friday's spring game and scheduled an MRI. Fortunately, no major damage was found, and the team is confident it will not force a long-term absence. There's a possibility the team could opt for a cortisone shot, which would likely keep Infante off the field for several more days.

Infante indicated Thursday that he's "still not 100 percent," but is feeling better. However, he's yet to throw a ball hard, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.
Infante is expected to be the starting second baseman heading into the 2015 season, but an extended absence will give others a chance to prove their worth in spring training. Infante was pretty good himself last season, batting .252/.295/.337 with six home runs and nine stolen bases. While he's still the favorite to begin the season as the club's second baseman, a strong spring performance from Christian Colon could throw a wrench into things.
Thu Feb 26 201515:46Infante said Thursday that right shoulder and elbow feel fine
Infante said Thursday that his right shoulder and elbow feel fine, MLB.com reports. "The shoulder is fine now," Infante said. "I don't really feel anything with [the elbow] either, maybe just a little bit. Not worried."
Infante was able to play through several nagging injuries last season but his performance suffered, both on offense and defense. While the shoulder was especially troublesome down the stretch and into the postseason, the issue did not require surgery and both Infante and manager Ned Yost seem unconcerned about the injury lingering into 2015. Infante hit and threw Wednesday and Thursday without any major issues.

Royals GM Dayton Moore said Wednesday that he does not believe Infante will require surgery on his shoulder, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante battled shoulder issues throughout the entire season and admitted just last month that he feels "a lot of pain" when he swings, but it seems doctors have determined rest and rehabilitation will provide ample treatment for the injury. While the 32-year-old had four extra-base hits in the World Series, he had just a .632 OPS during the regular season, close to 80 points below his career mark of .711, and still has three years remaining on his contract.
