Thu Sep 6 201222:29Germano hammered again in loss to Nationals
Justin Germano was hammered again in Thursday's loss to the Nationals, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over his four innings of work.
Germano walked two and struck out two in the game. Kurt Suzuki belted a three-run homer in the second inning, and the Nats added another three-spot in the fourth to finish the damage. He's been nothing short of terrible over his last four starts, posting an 0-4 record, 11.09 ERA and 1.93 WHIP. With the Cubs short on alternatives, he'll likely remain in the rotation, but shouldn't be started in any format. He'll look to turn things around when he takes on the Astros in Houston on Tuesday.

Tue Aug 28 201200:10Germano rocked by Brews
Justin Germano was treated rudely by the Brewers Monday, getting blasted for five runs on 10 hits over just five innings of work.
He struck out four and didn't walk anyone but also served up four extra-base hits, including a two-run homer to Aramis Ramirez. Germano has now been rocked in consecutive starts, putting his rotation spot in danger. The Cubs lack options, though, so he'll probably get another shot this weekend against the Giants.

Wed Aug 15 201217:38Justin Germano beats Astros
Justin Germano pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs in defeating the Astros on Wednesday.
Germano is 2-2 with a 3.91 ERA in 25 1/3 innings since joining the Cubs. He'll probably have a two-start week coming up next week, facing the Brewers in Milwaukee and the Rockies at home. There's very little upside here, but NL-only leaguers can take advantage of the matchups.

Fri Aug 10 201218:28Justin Germano takes loss to Reds
Justin Germano gave up six runs -- four earned -- in 5 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Reds.
The Cubs committed three errors while Germano was in the game and then two more in the sixth to score the lone runner he left on base. Between the poor defense and the crazy wind at Wrigley, there's no way the loss today can be held against Germano.

Sun Aug 5 201220:35Justin Germano ends up with a no-decision
Justin Germano yielded two earned runs over 5 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision against the Dodgers Sunday.
Germano struck out three, walked none and gave up just three hits. With Matt Garza (triceps) headed for the DL, the veteran should stick in the rotation. Germano hasn't been a regular starter since 2007, when he posted a 4.46 ERA while making 23 starts for the Padres.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training, where Germano will try to land a spot in the Red Sox' bullpen. He finished the 2011 season in Korea after being dumped off the Indians' 40-man roster, and turned down $1 million to return to the KBO for another year.

Justin Germano has accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus.
The 28-year-old right-hander will be at spring training with the Indians as a non-roster invitee. He's likely to open 2011 at the Triple-A level but could climb back to the majors quickly if the Tribe have bullpen depth problems. Germano had a solid 3.31 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio last year.

Indians sent RHP Justin Germano outright to Triple-A Columbus.
Germano has the right to refuse the assignment and become a free agent. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 3.31 ERA along with an impressive 29/8 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings with the Tribe this past season.
Sun Oct 3 201017:32Germano hit hard in first start of season
Justin Germano was roughed up for five runs in two innings to take a loss against the White Sox on Sunday.
Germano had made 22 relief appearances with the big club this season but today marked his first start. While the outing didn't go well, Germano did well with a 3.31 ERA in 35 1/3 innings for the Indians this season. He shouldn't have to play in Japan again as he did in 2009, but he won't be a fantasy option in any role.
