Mon Mar 16 201513:30Gavin Floyd: Could Miss Entire 2015 Season
Floyd will have surgery on his right elbow Tuesday and could miss the entire 2015 season, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Floyd missed the end of the 2014 season due to a stress fracture, and a re-injury of the same elbow will result in possible season-ending surgery. With his spot in the rotation now up for grabs, T.J. House now becomes the favorite for the final spot, with Shaun Marcum, Zach McAllister and Josh Tomlin also in the mix.

Floyd (elbow) will have his MRI sent for a second opinion to determine what actions he will take, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Floyd reportedly re-injured a stress fracture that caused him to miss the end of the 2014. His timetable this season is unclear, but it should be released once the opinions are taken into consideration.
Tue Mar 10 201513:43Gavin Floyd: (Elbow) Re-injures Stress Fracture
Floyd (elbow) suffered a re-injury of the stress fracture that ended his 2014 season, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
This is obviously close to worst-case scenario for Floyd and the Indians, as the right-hander was expected to be a member of the starting rotation. The team has not announced a treatment plan yet - surgery is believed to be an option - but an official release stated Floyd will be out "for the foreseeable future," so it's unclear when he could return to the mound this season.

Floyd (elbow) will undergo an MRI after experiencing continued soreness during his recent throwing sessions, MLB.com reports. "We all felt like the ball's coming out pretty good, but he's still feeling some things," manager Terry Francona said. "It's a little vague, so we just think this makes sense to get it looked at.
Floyd was expected to open the season as a member of the Cleveland starting rotation but those plans may be in jeopardy if the team's medical staff can't get their arms around this situation quickly.
Sun Mar 8 201515:34Floyd (elbow) threw long toss Sunday
Floyd (elbow) threw long toss Sunday, William Boor of MLB.com reports.
Floyd was initially scheduled to start Sunday, but had his start pushed back due to some soreness. The fact that he was able to throw long toss is encouraging, but it's unclear at this point when, he will make his spring training debut, but he still has some time to get in the swing of things before the beginning of the regular season.

Floyd (elbow) who had a bullpen session cut short Wednesday due to general soreness in his right arm will have his throwing program adjusted by the team's medical staff, MLB.com reports. "We just want to make sure that he's built to last and not just to make his first few starts, because that's not fair to him. ... Because of what he's been through, giving him a couple days to let the trainers do their thing, things like that, I think really sets him up to, when he does move along now, you don't have the bumps in the road. And, if those things happen, we're willing to [adjust]," manager Terry Francona said.
Floyd and the Indians aren't going to hesitate to pull back a bit even if it means he's not ready for the start of the regular season as a result. There's still a lot of time left for Floyd to ramp back up if he can get back on the mound next week.

Floyd (elbow) will have his first appearance of the spring pushed back a couple of days, MLB.com reports. "We're just trying to back up Gavin a few days," manager Terry Francona said. "We really are adamant with him that we want him to be completely game ready when he starts to pitch, and he's been really good about communicating with us."
Floyd was scheduled to make his first start Sunday but the Indians will exercise a bit of caution and give him a couple of more days. Floyd's recovering from elbow surgery but has targeted to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Floyd (elbow) threw his first live batting practice session of the spring on Sunday, mlb.com reports.
Floyd made it through the session without any issues, and he's only a bit behind the Indians' other pitchers. He seemingly has a good chance to grab one of the final two spots in Cleveland's rotation.

Floyd (elbow) is expected to resume game activity by the second week of March, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Floyd, who underwent elbow surgery in late-June, is currently throwing bullpen sessions and continues to build up volume, as well as intensity. He'll continue to throw bullpens and live batting practice, but his throwing program will be individualized to prevent extra strain on the elbow. Assuming he does not suffer a setback, Floyd should be in competition for a rotational spot to begin the season.
Tue Dec 16 201416:34Floyd (elbow) signed one-year contract with Indians on Tuesday
Floyd (elbow) signed a one-year contract with the Indians on Tuesday.
The deal is only said to include $4 million in guaranteed money, so it's a relatively low-risk investment on the Indians' part. Floyd turned in strong numbers in nine starts with the Braves last season (2.65 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) before a fractured elbow ended his campaign. If healthy, he should push for a rotation spot, but the jump to the tough AL Central will make him less appealing for fantasy purposes.
Thu Nov 6 201413:15Floyd (elbow) activated from 60-day DL
Floyd (elbow) has been activated from the 60-day DL.
Floyd's rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery pushed into May, but he gave the Braves some much-needed quality innings upon his return, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over nine starts. He then suffered a fracture in the elbow, officially ending his season in mid-June, but health permitting, he should at least make a run at a rotation spot this coming spring.
Thu Jul 31 201418:28Floyd transferred to 60-day DL on Thursday
Floyd was transferred to the 60-day DL on Thursday.
Floyd appears to be recovering well from his elbow injury, but is still expected to be out until the beginning of next season. The move will clear room on the 40-man roster for James Russell and Emilio Bonifacio, both of whom were acquired by the Braves prior to Thursday's trade deadline.
Thu Jun 26 201418:52Floyd undergoes season-ending elbow surgery
Gavin Floyd underwent season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair a fractured olecranon in right elbow.
The presumption is that the procedure would be season-ending, and the Braves have confirmed it. It's a really unfortunate blow for Floyd, who had been pitching well after returning from Tommy John surgery. He'll be a free agent this winter.

Sun Jun 22 201409:05Floyd likely to need season-ending surgery
Gavin Floyd is likely to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a fracture of the olecranon in his right elbow.
The good news is that an MRI has confirmed he has no ligament damage. However, the surgery to repair the fracture is expected and a decision will be made official after Floyd sees a doctor in Atlanta on Monday or Tuesday. The right-hander will be a free agent this winter.

Fri Jun 20 201413:22Gavin Floyd (elbow) officially lands on DL
Braves placed RHP Gavin Floyd on the 15-day disabled list with a fracture of the olecranon in his right elbow.
Floyd suffered the fracture while throwing his last pitch of Thursday's start against the Nationals. The Braves have yet to offer a timetable for the right-hander's return, but there's certainly a good possibility that his season is over. Ryan Buchter has taken his spot on the roster, but Alex Wood will be up next week when Floyd's rotation spot comes up.

Thu Jun 19 201422:23Gavin Floyd diagnosed with fractured elbow
Gavin Floyd has been diagnosed with a fracture of the olecranon in his right elbow.
It's not clear how Floyd suffered the injury, but it's no surprise that the ailment is serious given how much swelling he had. The righty will be re-evaluated on Friday before the Braves determined how much time he might miss, but obviously he'll be placed on the disabled list. Alex Wood figures to replace him in the rotation next week.

Thu Jun 19 201421:34Gavin Floyd to undergo X-rays on elbow
Gavin Floyd left Thursday's start versus the Nationals with posterior swelling in his right elbow.
Floyd threw one pitch in the seventh inning before exiting with a noticeable knot on his pitching elbow. The best-case scenario is probably bursitis, but the Braves are obviously hoping the ligament isn't involved. Even if he gets good news, a trip to the disabled list would seem likely. Floyd was making his ninth start since recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Thu Jun 19 201421:06Gavin Floyd exits with possible elbow injury
Gavin Floyd left Thursday's start against the Nationals with a possible elbow injury.
The Braves' trainer came out to check on Floyd after he threw his first pitch of the seventh inning. The righty was having his elbow looked at before walking off the field. Obviously, it's a bad sign given that Floyd was making his ninth start since returning from Tommy John surgery. He had spun six scoreless frames before exiting. We probably won't know much about his status until after the game.

Sun Jun 15 201400:06Gavin Floyd allows four runs in no-decision
Gavin Floyd surrendered four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Angels.
Floyd earned his first win since undergoing Tommy John surgery Monday at Coors Field, but he didn't quite have it on Saturday night against the Angels. He yielded seven hits -- including homers to Mike Trout and Albert Pujols -- as Anaheim grabbed the extra-innings victory. Floyd will try to bounce back next week against the Nationals. He has a cool 2.98 ERA on the year.
