Sat Sep 17 201108:40George Sherrill throws bullpen session
George Sherrill (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday for the first time in a week.
Sherrill, who has been out since August 31 with elbow soreness, received a platelet-rich plasma injection and had to shut things down for a week to let the injection do its job. "It was pretty good for the first one," said Sherrill, referring to the bullpen session. He will throw a side session Sunday and still hopes to make it back before the end of the season.

George Sherrill (left elbow inflammation) likely won't be back by this weekend.
Sherrill was eligible to come off the DL on Sunday, but he just began playing light catch. He'll probably toss a bullpen session later this week. Sherrill, 34, has a solid 3.00 ERA and 38/12 K/BB ratio over 36 innings this season.

Fri Dec 10 201011:49Braves sign lefty Sherrill to one-year deal
Braves signed LHP George Sherrill to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.
Sherill, 33, finished with an ugly-looking 6.69 overall ERA and 1.93 overall WHIP in 36 1/3 innings this year for the Dodgers, but he still held left-handed batters to an impressive .192/.286/.288 batting line. When used in the right way -- solely against lefties -- he's a very solid reliever.
Wed Dec 8 201016:31Braves agree to one-year deal with Sherill
The Braves have agreed to a one-year contract with George Sherrill.
The deal is only pending a physical and should be finalized by the end of this week. Sherill, 34 next April, posted an ugly 6.69 overall ERA in 2010, but he was still highly effective against left-handed batters. His new contract with Atlanta carries a base salary of $1.2 million and $200K in incentives.

Wed Dec 8 201015:18Report: Braves close to deal with Sherrill
According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, George Sherill is close to signing with the Braves.
Sherrill, who turns 34 next April, was non-tendered by the Dodgers last week after posting a 6.69 ERA and 25/24 K/BB ratio over 36 1/3 innings this past season. He was still effective against left-handed batters, so the Braves could look to use him as a specialist moving forward.

Fri Dec 3 201000:09Dodgers non-tender George Sherrill
Dodgers non-tendered LHP George Sherrill.
As expected. Sherrill will draw interest on the free agent market because of his continued dominance against left-handed hitters, but the Dodgers couldn't justify paying him more than $4.5 million after the 6.69 overall ERA and 1.93 WHIP that he registered in 2010.
Thu Nov 25 201016:44Dodgers likely to non-tender George Sherrill
The Dodgers are not expected to tender a contract to George Sherrill.
Sherrill was actually quite effective against left-handers in 2010, but he finished with a 6.69 ERA and 1.93 WHIP over 65 relief appearances because of a heavy exposure to righties. He is eligible for arbitration and would get a slight raise over the $4.5 million that he earned this year. The Dodgers are right to want to avoid that kind of payout.

Tue Jul 20 201009:13Dodgers' Sherrill clears outright waivers
George Sherrill has cleared outright waivers.
The Dodgers will try to convince the struggling left-hander to accept an assignment to the minor leagues, but he does have the option of declining and becoming a free agent. Sherrill, 33, posted a 7.32 ERA and a 2.24 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings of relief before the club placed him on waivers last week.

Wed Jul 14 201018:01Report: Dodgers place Sherrill on waivers
Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Dodgers have placed left-handed reliever George Sherrill on waivers.
It should come as no surprise. Sherrill, 33, has posted a hideous 7.32 ERA and 2.24 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings for Los Angeles this season. His ridiculous $4.5 million salary for 2010 should allow the Dodgers to pass him through waivers and have him resurface at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Wed Jun 9 201012:30Sherrill would like to stick with Dodgers
George Sherrill told Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times that he would like to remain with the Dodgers after this season.
"It's fun coming to the ballpark knowing you have a shot," said Sherrill, who was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday. The 33-year-old left-hander is making $4.5 million this season and stands to make even more in arbitration this winter. He's already a prime candidate to be non-tendered.

Tue Jun 8 201017:56Dodgers activate Sherrill from 15-day DL
Dodgers activated LHP George Sherrill from the disabled list.
Sherrill fired two shutout rehab innings this weekend and reported no pain or discomfort in his once-troublesome back. Placed on the disabled list on May 25, he left behind a 7.36 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP through 14 2/3 innings. The Dodgers are obviously hoping the rest will help.

Much better than his first appearance on Tuesday. Sherrill struck out two and only needed eight pitches to complete the outing. He's right on track to be activated from the disabled list last week.

Mon May 31 201020:09Sherrill (back) to make rehab appearances
George Sherrill (back) is scheduled to pitch on a minor league rehab assignment for Class A Inland Empire on Tuesday and Thursday.
Sherrill pitched two innings of a simulated game on Saturday. He was just placed on the disabled list next week, so he'll likely move up the organizational ladder from there, pitching on back-to-back days.

Sat May 29 201020:24Sherrill throws two innings of simulated game
George Sherrill (back) pitched two innings of a simulated game Saturday.
Sherrill was placed on the DL only four days ago, but already feels near full health. "I felt my timing was a lot better," he said. "I still feel a little something in the back, but it doesn't grab at all. If they want me to go somewhere, I'll go." A rehab assignment should be forthcoming.

Tue May 25 201016:37Dodgers place Sherrill (back) on DL
Dodgers placed LHP George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list with mid back tightness.
The roster move creates space for Rafael Furcal, who was activated from the disabled list on Monday. Sherrill has yielded 13 runs -- 12 earned -- over 14 2/3 innings (7.36 ERA) this season after allowing two runs over 27 2/3 innings (0.65) ERA with the Dodgers last season. Taking a break may be beneficial.
