Ty Wigginton homered for the sixth time in seven games in the Rockies loss to the White Sox on Wednesday.

Wed Jun 29 201100:41Wigginton's walk-off single leads Rox to win
Ty Wigginton's walk-off single led the Rockies to a 3-2 victory in 13 innings over the White Sox.
With two outs in the 13th, Wigginton singled in Troy Tulowitzki off Will Ohman. It was Wigginton's only hit in six at-bats. He's homered five times in his past six games and has a nice .267/.317/.510 slash line on the season.

Sun Jun 26 201117:56Wigginton has another two-homer day
Ty Wigginton stayed hot on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in Colorado's 6-4 loss at Yankee Stadium.
Wigginton went deep three times in Colorado's three-game trip to the Bronx, and has now homered five times in his past four games. If you've been desperately searching for an answer at third base in your mixed league, there's no shame in riding Wigginton while he's hot.

Sat Jun 25 201116:10Wigginton homers in loss to Yankees
Ty Wigginton clubbed a two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Yankees.
It was his fourth home run in the past six games. Wigginton is now batting .279 with eight homers and 20 RBI since the start of May. With eligibility at second base in most formats, he's well worth using in mixed leagues at the moment.

Fri Jun 24 201112:43Wigginton playing well after slow start
Ty Wigginton is hitting .281 with seven home runs since batting .233 in April.
Wigginton got off to a slow start in his new home, but now looks like the Rockies answer at third base after both Ian Stewart and Jose Lopez flamed out. Wigginton's power numbers are maybe a little less impressive than they were expected to be in the thin air of Colorado, but he is still well within reach of his fifth career 20-homer season.

Wed Jun 22 201122:07Wigginton's two homers not enough for Rox
Ty Wigginton homered twice and drove in three runs on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough for the Rockies in their 4-3 loss to the Indians.
Wigginton tagged Josh Tomlin for a solo shot in the fifth before getting him again for a two-run bomb in the seventh. The multi-homer game was his first since May 15, 2010. He is now the owner of a .266/.322/.489 triple slash through his first 206 plate appearances this season.

Sun Jun 19 201117:58Wigginton hits solo home run in loss
A fifth inning solo home run from Ty Wigginton would be all the offense the Rockies could muster in a 9-1 loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
Wigginton's first blast in seven games was just his second of the month and seventh of the year. Although he is batting a solid .267 through his first 176 at-bats, expectations for Wigginton's power output in the thin air of Colorado were greater entering the season.

Ty Wigginton (oblique) will play in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Tue May 3 201118:17Rockies place Wigginton (oblique) on DL
Rockies placed INF Ty Wigginton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 27, with a strained right oblique.
Wigginton has been sidelined since last Tuesday, so there was no use going short-handed for any longer. Jose Lopez will make the start at third base Tuesday, but the newly-recalled Ian Stewart figures to get most of the playing time.

Sat Apr 30 201110:13Ty Wigginton hopes to be back in lineup Tues.
Ty Wigginton (oblique) hopes to be back in the lineup by Tuesday.
Wigginton could be available to pinch-hit over the weekend, but probably only in an emergency. "We'll be very, very careful with that," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. Wigginton has sat out the last two games, but the good news is that it looks like he'll avoid the DL.

Fri Apr 29 201110:31Ty Wigginton doesn't think he'll need DL trip
Ty Wigginton (oblique) doesn't think he'll need a trip to the disabled list.
"I don't believe it. I don't see that," he said. "But I have never had anything like this before." The good news is that the injury appears to hurt Wigginton more when he runs than when he hits. "I have full rotation. I didn't try to swing, but I don't feel it when I move like that," Wigginton said. Rockies manager Jim Tracy said he'll consider calling up a position player from Triple-A as insurance while Wigginton is out. Alfredo Amezega appears to be the most likely possibility, with Ian Stewart and Chris Nelson also candidates.

Wed Apr 27 201112:58Wigginton out of Wednesday's lineup
Ty Wigginton is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs.
Wigginton hurt his right side on a stolen base attempt during Tuesday's game, but it doesn't sound like a major concern right now. Jose Lopez will make the start at third base and bat seventh against right-hander James Russell.

Fri Apr 22 201115:49Wigginton again starting at third base
Ty Wigginton will make his third straight start at third base on Friday.
For now at least, Wigginton looks set to be the Rockies' everyday third baseman while Ian Stewart rebuilds his confidence at Triple-A Colorado Springs. It was thought Wigginton and Jose Lopez might platoon, but that does not appear to be the case.

Wed Apr 20 201118:33Rockies' Wigginton knocks in four runs
Ty Wigginton had a three-run homer and an RBI groundout against the Giants on Wednesday.
The Rockies signed Wigginton with the idea of using him mostly against lefties, but he's actually fared quite a bit better against righties the last couple of years. Today's homer was off a good one in Matt Cain. Wigginton will battle Jose Lopez for playing time at third now that Ian Stewart has been demoted.

Tue Mar 8 201118:17Wigginton goes deep in loss
Ty Wigginton went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the White Sox.
The blast came off of White Sox starter John Danks. Signed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract over the winter, Wigginton figures to see playing time at a variety of places this season for the Rockies. His eligibility at second base and the fact that he'll play his home games at Coors Field makes him a sneaky middle infield fantasy option.

Tue Dec 7 201009:11Wigginton lands 2-yr, $7.5M deal from Rockies
According to Tracy Ringolsby of FOXSports.com, Ty Wiggnton's new contract with the Rockies will be worth $7.5 million over two years.
It also includes an option for 2013. That's quite a bit of money to be paying a utilityman, but Wigginton is one of the most offensively competent utilitymen in the game and can step in as a starter at both corner infield positions should something go wrong. The 33-year-old batted .248/.312/.415 with 22 homers and 76 RBI in 581 at-bats this past year for Baltimore.

Tue Dec 7 201008:50Rockies close to deal with UTIL Ty Wigginton
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Rockies are close to an agreement with free agent utilityman Ty Wigginton.
A nice get for the Rox. Wigginton probably could have found more playing time elsewhere, but he'll enjoy hitting at Coors Field and should be used frequently as a right-handed bat off the bench. The 33-year-old hit .248/.312/.415 with 22 home runs for the Orioles this past season. Of course, somebody in Colorado would have to get injured for him to carry any fantasy value.

Mon Dec 6 201016:49D-backs unlikely to move Drew
An Arizona executive told ESPN's Jayson Stark that he "doubts" the team will trade Stephen Drew now that they've already unloaded Mark Reynolds.
The D-backs fancy themselves as contenders for 2011, so they don't want to hold a fire sale. There's also no particular reason to move Drew at this point because he won't be a free agent for another two years. The executive admitted, though, that "next year might be different."

Mon Dec 6 201014:47Rockies meeting with Ty Wigginton's agent
The Rockies are meeting Monday with Ty Wigginton's agent.
Wigginton has been courted by the Rockies since mid-October, but they're only going to be offering him a utility job and he might desire more playing time. The 33-year-old posted a .248/.312/.415 batting line and 22 home runs for the Orioles this past year. He'd do quite well in Coors Field.

Sat Nov 20 201015:23O's talking with Wiggy, Uehara and Izturis
The Orioles continue to have discussions with the agents of Ty Wigginton, Koji Uehara and Cesar Izturis about their clients staying in Baltimore.
With Uehara, it's a matter of contract length, with Izturis, it's a matter of who else the team brings in, and with Wigginton, both factors are in play. Translation: The O's want Uehara back, but on a short-term deal, they will retain Izturis only as a last-resort option and while they like Wigginton, they'd like to get someone better to fill a corner infield spot.
