RHP Neftali Feliz recorded his first save of the season -- and the 100th of his career -- Wednesday, retiring Charlie Blackmon with two out and the bases loaded in the ninth inning of Milwaukee's 6-1 victory over Colorado. Milwaukee signed Feliz to a one-year contract in January, ostensibly to cover the ninth inning but also to provide some experience to a relatively young bullpen group.

RHP Neftali Feliz, the third Pirates pitcher in the game, left with one out and two on in the eighth because of right arm discomfort after apparently injuring himself on a pitch. There was no further information on his status. He pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing two runs on two hits. Manager Clint Hurdle said Feliz had not had any physical problems going into the game.

RHP Neftali Feliz signed a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Pirates on Wednesday.Feliz began the 2015 season with Texas and posted six saves in his 18 appearances with the Rangers before he was cut. He finished the season with the Tigers, where he made 30 appearances and recorded a save in three of his last four outings. The 27-year-old Feliz was a 2010 American League All-Star and was named the AL Rookie of the Year that season with the Rangers after posting a 2.73 ERA with 40 saves in a career-high 70 appearances. Feliz produced 32 saves with the Rangers in 2011.
Fri Dec 4 201503:41RHP Neftali Feliz non-tendered by Tigers on Wednesday
RHP Neftali Feliz, who would have been eligible for arbitration this winter, was non-tendered by the Tigers on Wednesday. The move makes him a free agent. Feliz, 27, went a combined 3-4 with 10 saves and a 6.38 ERA in 48 relief appearances for Texas and Detroit this year.

Feliz (3-4) endured a blown save and loss Saturday night, giving up two earned runs on two hits and two walks in a 4-3 defeat to the White Sox.
Feliz had converted each of his last three save opportunities entering Saturday, occupying the ninth inning role amid Bruce Rondon's dismissal from the team. The 27-year-old's dreadful peripherals caught up with him, however, resulting in a disastrous walk-off loss against the White Sox. Feliz's closing days should be in the rear-view mirror after the season.

Feliz logged his ninth save with a clean inning of work against the Twins on Friday night. He struck out one.
With Bruce Rondon in the Tigers' doghouse, Feliz has been given a chance to pitch in the ninth inning as the season winds down. He posted six saves for Texas before losing the job, and now has three saves for Detroit. He appears to be the interim closer, but his 6.17 ERA should raise plenty of warning flags.

Feliz recorded his eighth save of the season Wednesday, posting a 1-2-3 inning in a 7-4 win over the White Sox.
The save was Feliz's first since Aug. 15, and second as a member of the Tigers. Detroit's primary closer, Bruce Rondon, was sent home Tuesday due to "lack of effort," opening a spot for Feliz to get some ninth inning looks as the season winds down.

Feliz was on the mound when the White Sox snapped the Tigers' combined no-hit bid in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game. He retired the first batter, but allowed a triple to the No. 9 hitter. He finished with two hits, one earned run and one strikeout.
He has been able to whittle his ERA down to 6.45 from a high of 8.28 on July 28, just seven games after his arrival in Detroit. He got a bit unlucky Tuesday, but he's still prone to occasional blow-ups. And that means his elite closer days of 2010 and 2011 aren't likely to return soon.

Feliz as charged with a blown save Monday after he allowed three hits, three earned runs and one walk in just 0.2 innings of work. It was his fifth blown save, but just his second with the Tigers.
It wasn't his worst outing as a Tiger, but it ranked right up there. However, it was just his first meltdown since he made some strides to improve his approach on the mound, so we won't judge him on this one outing.

Feliz gave up a two-out RBI single before getting Carlos Gomez to ground out to record his first save with the Tigers. He allowed two hits in 1.0 innings of work in a win over the Astros.
The save came in the 11th inning after Bruce Rondon blew his first save in the ninth, leaving a dominant Justin Verlander with no decision. Feliz could be in line for more save opportunities if the back of the Tigers' pen continues to scuffle.

Felix has made some adjustments to his approach on the mound that seem to be paying off, reports the Detroit Free Press. His breaking ball "has more depth to it" his fastball seems more deceptive.
He's been off his game all season, but he pitched two hitless innings in Friday's loss to the Orioles; he struck out two. And it was all because he moved from the first-base side of the pitching rubber to the third-base side. He had given up three or more runs in three of four appearances prior to Friday. If the change sticks, Feliz could quickly be in the hunt for saves.

Feliz had a disastrous outing Tuesday, allowing five runs while recording just one out.
This appearance came on the heels of allowing three runs against the Red Sox two days ago and five against the Mariners one week ago. For the season, Feliz's ERA is now an unsightly 8.28.
Sun Jul 12 201500:24Feliz made Tigers' debut Saturday against Twins
Feliz made his Tigers' debut Saturday against the Twins. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning with one hit and one strikeout.
The former top closer with the Rangers was designated for assignment July 3 and became a free agent after going unclaimed on waivers. Prior to Saturday, he had a 4.58 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 18 appearances. But he has three solid pitches, including a mid-90s heater, a biting slider and a decent changeup. And he could provide some interesting fantasy value if he gets to pitch in high-leverage situations with the Tigers.
Sat Jul 11 201513:21Feliz signed to big league deal by Tigers on Saturday
Feliz was signed to a big league deal by the Tigers on Saturday.
He will join the team Saturday in Minnesota and should be available to pitch in the final two games before the All-Star break. Once a top-10 prospect in baseball, Feliz's stock has slipped to the point that the Rangers designated him for assignment last wee and he subsequently elected to become a free agent. The Tigers now employ three former Rangers closers in Joakim Soria, Joe Nathan and now Feliz. Look for Feliz to see work in the middle innings initially before possibly working his way into the eighth inning role.
Thu Jul 9 201522:54Feliz has elected free agency
Feliz, who was designated for assignment July 3, has elected free agency, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Feliz logged a 4.58 ERA with 24 hits, nine walks, and 16 strikeouts over 19.2 innings with the Rangers this season. At just 27 years of age, Feliz will likely draw interest from several teams looking to add depth to the bullpen. Cotillo reports that Feliz forfeited the remainder of his salary this year to explore the open market.
