Mon May 24 201010:38Wellemeyer won't be skipped in rotation
Todd Wellemeyer will make his next scheduled start against the Nationals on Tuesday.
With an off-day scheduled for Monday, the Giants had considered skipping the Wellemeyer in the rotation. Still, Wellemeyer is 2-4 with a 5.71 ERA over eight games (seven starts), so he has very little margin for error. Tim Lincecum will start with an extra-day of rest on Wednesday.

Fri May 21 201010:34Wellemeyer 'could be skipped' in rotation
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Todd Wellemeyer "could be skipped" in the rotation.
The Giants have the benefit of the off-day on Monday, so a fifth starter will not be necessary on May 29. That doesn't mean Wellemeyer will start that game. The Giants are reportedly considering replacing Wellemeyer with Eric Hacker. The 27-year-old right-hander is 7-1 with a 2.20 ERA over eight starts with Triple-A Fresno. Madison Bumgarner is also a consideration.

Sat May 15 201003:46Giants' Wellemeyer earns win over Astros
Todd Wellemeyer held the Astros to two runs and five hits over 7 1/3 innings in a victory Friday.
It's going to be hard for Wellemeyer to find any consistency with the Giants shifting him around the rotation so much. He's made just one start this season on four days' rest, and he was skipped earlier this month. He's strictly a spot starter in NL-only leagues right now.
Sat May 8 201016:47Wellemeyer takes no-decision vs. Mets
Todd Wellemeyer allowed four runs over 4 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision in an extra-inning loss to the Mets on Saturday afternoon.
It should have been a lot worse. Wellemeyer walked five, threw a wild pitch and hit a batter, but the Mets were only able to muster three hits against him. He now has a 5.97 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 22/20 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings. Starting pitching is the least of the Giants' worries right now, but they have to be losing patience with him.
Wed Apr 28 201001:00Giants' Wellemeyer nails down first win
Todd Wellemeyer held the Phillies to two runs and three hits over seven innings to win Tuesday.
Wellemeyer's first quality start in four tries earned him his first win as a Giant. It also might help him avoid being skipped next time through the rotation. The Giants have Thursday and next Tuesday off, so they could choose to push Wellemeyer back several days.
Thu Apr 22 201009:17Giants not ready to give up on Wellemeyer
Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated on Wednesday that he's not ready to give up on Todd Wellemeyer.
"Todd, you know, he's been around," said Bochy. "He'll regroup here. He's had a hiccup here these two starts. We need him to get back where he was, pounding the ball down in the strike zone and locating the ball." After Wednesday's loss to the Padres, Wellemeyer is now 0-3 with an 8.16 ERA and 11/11 K/BB ratio. If he fails to show improvement quickly, Joe Martinez or Kevin Pucetas could take his spot in the rotation.

Wed Apr 21 201021:46Wellemeyer takes loss, drops to 0-3 in 2010
Todd Wellemeyer surrendered two earned runs over four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Padres.
Wellemeyer pitched better than he has all year, but still took the loss and is now 0-3 on the season with an 8.16 ERA and 1.88 WHIP after three starts. The Giants have to be considering other rotation options.
Sat Apr 17 201002:55Giants' Wellemeyer lit up for seven runs
Todd Wellemeyer was tagged for seven runs in four innings by the Dodgers on Friday.
At least he was able to bounce back and pitch scoreless third and fourth innings after getting lit up for three homers early. Wellemeyer, though, is 0-2 with a 9.58 ERA after two starts. The Braden Looper-to-San Francisco talk might start up again soon at this rate.
Sun Apr 11 201001:17Giants' Wellemeyer takes loss to Braves
Todd Wellemeyer took a loss after allowing four runs in 6 1/3 innings Saturday against the Braves.
Wellemeyer and Derek Lowe both allowed one run through six innings in the contest, but the difference was that the Giants asked Wellemeyer to pitch the seventh. He got into trouble immediately, and the only out he ended up recording came on a sac bunt. It certainly seemed like Bruce Bochy was asking for too much from his fifth starter.
