Webb suffered a knee injury during a workout Sunday, but the MRI showed no structural damage. At this point he's being considered day-to-day, so it doesn't appear to be a serious ailment.

Webb spent most of the season with the Orioles in 2014, but he was optioned for the month of August when the team acquired Andrew Miller. This spring Webb is trying to earn one of the last couple of open slots at the back of the bullpen. Webb is a strong ground ball pitcher, with a 1.95 ground ball to fly ball ratio, but his fastball velocity dipped to a career low mark of 92.00 MPH in 2014.

Webb is dealing with a bit of a sore shoulder, so the Orioles elected to wait an extra day to recall him. He will serve out of the bullpen for the Orioles as they race for the playoffs in September.

Webb was removed from the 25-man roster Friday to make room for Andrew Miller, but has now been oficially optioned, as expected, to Triple-A. He hasn't pitched poorly out of the bullpen, posting a 3.80 ERA and 1.22 WHIP this season. The 24-year-old will head back to Triple-A for the first time since 2012 and await his next opportunity to pitch in the big leagues.

The deal was agreed to last Friday and then made official Tuesday after Webb passed his physical. He'll likely serve as a setup man next year in Baltimore.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Orioles will announce the signing of Ryan Webb on Monday.

Nightengale also adds that despite the addition of Webb, the O's are still intent on adding a closer. They have recently been linked to John Axford and Chris Perez, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them ink a new closer during the winter meetings. If they are unable to bring in an experienced option, Webb could be in the mix for save opportunities.

Webb still needs to pass a physical in order for the deal to be completed. The Marlins non-tendered Webb even though he was projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn just $1.5 million in arbitration, and now he's going to get $3 million more than that on a two-year pact. It's possible Webb could be in the mix for closing duties in Baltimore if the O's don't bring in someone with ninth inning experience.

One of the more interesting names to not be tendered a contract before Monday's deadline. Webb doesn't pile up the strikeouts that you'd expect from someone with his stuff, but he gets a ton of ground balls and owns a career 3.29 ERA over parts of five seasons. He should be scooped up in no time.

Ryan Webb has been a steady veteran influence on Miami's bullpen, posting a 2.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 26 innings in 2013.

The bad news, for owners in holds leagues, is that Webb has only one. Such is life for Miami relievers, who inherit leads about as often as deceased investigative reporters.

He can earn an additional $10,000 if he appears in 67 games. Webb, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time, has posted a 3.45 ERA over three and a half big league seasons.

Heath Bell is sporting a brutal 11.74 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this season and has also appeared in each of the Marlins' past three games. If the Marlins decide to remove the high-priced closer completely from his current role, ninth-inning responsibilities would likely be split between Webb, Mujica and Steve Cishek.
