This sounds like a minor injury. Escalona will likely be forced to miss a few games before being cleared to return.

Rockies placed RHP Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a right rotator cuff strain.
It's not believed to be serious, but the Rockies placed him on the DL to make room for Tuesday's starter Alex White. Escalona, 24, has a 2.55 ERA and 9/5 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings at the major league level this season.

Rockies optioned RHPs Edgmer Escalona and Cory Riordan to Triple-A Colorado Springs, optioned RHP Juan Nicasio to Double-A Tulsa.
Escalona made five appearances with the Rockies last season as a September call-up, posting a 1.50 ERA over five appearances. The 23-year-old right-hander had a 6.00 ERA with the Sky Sox in 2010. Nicasio, 24, is one of better pitching prospects in the Rockies' system. He posted a 3.91 ERA over 28 starts with High-A Modesto last season, averaging 8.7 K/9 and 1.6 BB/9.

Because of Tuesday's rainout, right-hander Edgmer Escalona was not recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The Rockies only called him up because Rafael Betancourt and Esmil Rogers were likely unavailable on Tuesday. Now that the game has been rained out, the Rockies will swap Franklin Morales out for Jason Hammel.

Rockies recalled RHP Edgmer Escalona from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
It might not be a lengthy stay, as Jason Hammel is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday. Escalona, 23, will provide some temporary insurance for Rafael Betancourt, who is currently under the weather. He has a 7.84 ERA over 14 relief appearances with the Sky Sox this season, but posted a 2.45 ERA in Double-A Tulsa in '09.
