Wed Sep 26 201218:03Orioles' Wolf has torn UCL in throwing elbow
Randy Wolf has been diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Wolf is obviously done for the season and could require a second Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. The veteran left-hander posted a 5.28 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 8/7 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 innings this season for the Orioles. He will be a free agent this winter.

Tue Sep 25 201221:47Randy Wolf weighing his options
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Randy Wolf has "two or three options" in regards to how he wants to handle his left elbow injury.
Wolf underwent an MRI, but the O's haven't released the results yet. Though the team hasn't confirmed it, surgery certainly seems to be one of the options. "There are two or three options," Showalter said. "Randy's still got some questions he wants to ask Dr. Wilckens and Dr. Yocum before he and we make a definite decision about his availability for the rest of the year."

Tue Sep 25 201216:46Wolf to visit Dr. Lewis Yocum for left elbow
Randy Wolf is scheduled to visit Dr. Lewis Yocum later this week about his injured left elbow.
Wolf felt elbow discomfort in the final inning of his start Saturday against the Red Sox and the O's are obviously worried that he has some level of strucutural damage. The veteran starter is likely done for the season, and he could miss part of 2013 if he needs surgery.

Mon Sep 24 201214:01Wolf gets cortisone shot for elbow
Randy Wolf felt elbow pain during his start Saturday against the Red Sox and has been given a cortisone shot.
The Orioles are optimistic that the left-hander will be ready to go on Friday. Wolf has registered a 5.28 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 8/7 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 innings this season.

Sat Sep 22 201217:26Randy Wolf decent in no-decision vs. Red Sox
Randy Wolf pitched decently in his second start as a member of the Orioles, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Wolf also walked two and struck out two in the game. The Orioles literally pulled Wolf from the scrap heap last month, and he's come in to go 2-0 despite a 5.28 ERA in his five appearances (two starts). It's unlikely that he'll draw another start in the Orioles rotation the remainder of the season.

Sat Sep 15 201218:36Randy Wolf will start on Sunday for Orioles
Randy Wolf has been named the Orioles' starter for Sunday's game against the Athletics in Oakland.
It will be his first start with his new club, and first overall since August 19 with the Brewers. He owns an underwhelming 5-10 record, 5.69 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 148 2/3 innings on the season.

Fri Aug 31 201208:34Randy Wolf officially signed
Orioles signed LHP Randy Wolf to a one-year contract.
Wolf will make the veteran minimum while pitching in a bullpen role for the Orioles, though it's possible he could get a chance to start down the line. The veteran left-hander was released by the Brewers after posting a 5.69 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 96/45 K/BB ratio across 142 1/3 innings.

Tue Aug 28 201217:01Wolf could be used as starter or reliever
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that Randy Wolf could be used as a starter or reliever.
Brian Matusz is the lone southpaw in the Orioles' bullpen right now and he's hardly established as a lefty specialist, so relief might be the logical spot for Wolf. The 37-year-old has really struggled this season in general, but he has held left-handed batters to a .235/.306/.402 batting line for his career. The Orioles are expected to officially sign him within the next 24 hours.

Sat Aug 25 201214:47Report: Several teams have interest in Wolf
According to MLB Network's Peter Gammons, "several teams" have expressed interest in free agent Randy Wolf.
Gammons specifically mentions an AL East contender as having interest. Wolf, who was released by the Brewers earlier this week, holds a 5.69 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 142-plus innings (24 starts) this season. He would count for a prorated share of the veteran minimum if signed to a major league contract.

Wed Aug 22 201210:47Brewers release veteran LHP Randy Wolf
Brewers released LHP Randy Wolf.
And on his 36th birthday, no less. The Brewers were recently considering removing Wolf from the rotation, as Shaun Marcum (elbow) is expected to be activated from the disabled list soon and Wily Peralta and Tyler Thornburg are expected to get looks in the starting rotation down the stretch, but the veteran southpaw is now free to seek opportunities elsewhere. Wolf, an impending free agent, has an ugly 5.69 ERA and 96/45 K/BB ratio over 142 1/3 innings this season.

Mon Aug 20 201220:55Randy Wolf could be removed from rotation
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Randy Wolf could be removed from the rotation when Shaun Marcum (elbow) returns later this week.
Roenicke said that, "right now," the team plans on keeping Wolf in the rotation, but he added that is "will be something we talk about." The Brewers also have Mike Fiers, Mark Rogers and Marco Estrada nearing their innings limits, so there are a lot of decisions that need to be made. Wolf, who is making $9.5 million this season, holds a 5.69 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the season.

Sun Aug 19 201217:19Wolf goes seven rough innings in loss
Randy Wolf pitched seven shaky innings in Sunday's loss to the Phillies, allowing five runs on 10 hits and two walks.
Wolf struck out four in falling to 3-10. He allowed a two-run homer to Michael Martinez in the second, and three-run double against Domonic Brown in the third. Wolf has now been quality in just three of his seven outings since the All-Star break, and is the owner of a 5.69 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the season. The Brewers are highly unlikely to exercise his $10 million 2013 club option.

Tue Aug 14 201223:50Wolf blasted again in loss to Rockies
Randy Wolf was blasted in Tuesday's loss to the Rockies, giving up six runs on 10 hits over five innings.
He struck out one, walked one and coughed up a homer. Most of the damage came in the first inning, where the Rockies pushed four runs across. Wolf has been ineffective for most of the season, registering a 3-9 record and 5.65 ERA. With the Brewers out of contention, it would be wise to end the Wolf-ian experiment and see what a prized young arm could do in a sustained look.

Sat Aug 4 201200:16Wolf hit hard in loss to Cardinals
Randy Wolf was hit hard in Friday's loss to the Cardinals, giving up five runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Wolf struck out two and walked one in the game. He got the Brewers off to a nice start with a two-run single in the second inning, but was unable to shut down the Cardinals to protect it. Most of the damage came in the fourth inning where the Cards used five hits and a walk to push four runs across. Wolf has been ineffective for most of the season, registering a 3-8 record and 5.57 ERA. With the Brewers likely out of contention, it may be wise to end the Randy Wolf experiment and see what one of their prized young arms can do in a sustained look. As it stands, he'll take on the Reds at home on Wednesday.

Sun Jul 29 201203:50Wolf gives up three homers in loss to Nats
Randy Wolf struggled in Saturday's loss to the Nationals, allowing three home runs as part of his four runs on nine hits over seven innings of work.
He racked up six strikeouts against just one walk on the evening. Corey Brown got the scoring started with a solo shot in the first inning, and Tyler Moore added a two-run job before the inning was through. Ryan Zimmerman tacked on a solo drive of his own in the fifth inning, completing the scoring for the game. Wolf has been very ineffective this season, posting a 3-7 record and 5.45 ERA, and one has to wonder if he is long for the Brewers rotation. He'll attempt to turn things around when he battles the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.

Sun Jul 1 201208:41Randy Wolf to remain in rotation
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said the struggling Randy Wolf will remain in the rotation.
"That's not even on my mind right now," Roenicke said. "It has been a hard year for him. I'm hoping (Friday) night doesn't set him back because I thought the four previous games were good." As Roenicke mentioned, Wolf had been pitching a little better of late prior to his last outing, and the Brewers don't really have any better options at the moment to replace him with Shaun Marcum out. They'll face a decision when Marcum returns, though, as Marco Estrada and Michael Fiers are both out-pitching Wolf.

Sat Jun 30 201200:19Wolf hammered yet again in loss to D'Backs
Randy Wolf's miserable 2012 season continued on Friday, as he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits over four innings.
He did strike out six in the game while not walking any, but that's far from a saving grace for his season. Wolf now sits at 2-6 with a 5.78 ERA on the season. While this should be the final straw that boots him from the rotation, with the injury to Shawn Marcum the Brewers are struggling for depth at the moment. As it stands, he'll likely take his next turn in the rotation against the Marlins at home on Wednesday. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues moving forward.
