Sun Jul 31 201112:47Report: Todd Coffey to Angels?
Yahoo's Tim Brown reports that the Angels are "getting more aggressive on bullpen help," with Todd Coffey among those they have considered.
Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reported earlier that Coffey was likely to be traded soon but backed off the statement shortly after. It appears he could in fact be dealt, though, with the Halos perhaps in the driver's seat. Brown adds that "as of this moment," the Angels "won't go as big" as Heath Bell, so it appears they're looking more for setup help.

X-rays on Todd Coffey's pitching elbow were negative.
Coffey was removed from Sunday's game after being struck on the elbow by a Emilio Bonifacio line drive. The elbow had substantial swelling. "Obviously it's a little sore. I already did about three rounds of ice and treatment on it, the key now is just to knock the swelling down," Coffey said. "I'm going to go home and ice it continually all night, put a compression sleeve on and try to flush the swelling out. Hopefully it's just a day."

Todd Coffey (calf) completed a running session Friday with no issues and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Sunday.
"I just did some hard sprints on the treadmill and everything felt fine," said Coffey. "(Because) it's a Woodway, you can use your own power to run it so I'd be at a dead stop and run as hard as I can off it. (There were) no issues." By the way, Coffey plans to continue his unique sprint to the mound from the bullpen, though he may make the first run at 50 percent.

Mon Jan 24 201116:36Nats sign RHP Coffey to one-year deal
Nationals signed RHP Todd Coffey to a one-year contract.
Exact terms haven't been released. Coffey, 30, was non-tendered by the Brewers last month after posting a 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings last season. However, with a solid groundball rate, league average command and the ability to miss bats, he's a pretty solid bet for a bounceback season.
Wed Jan 19 201110:00Report: Nats agree to deal with Todd Coffey
According to Bill Ladson of MLB.com, the Nationals have agreed to a contract with Todd Coffey, pending a physical.
As expected. Coffey, 30, was non-tendered in December after posting a mediocre 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings with the Brewers last season, but he has the reputation as a solid middle relief option.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Nationals are "closing in" on free agent reliever Todd Coffey.
We'd love to see this, just so Coffey can run out in the middle of the Presidents' Race. The 30-year-old right-hander was non-tendered by the Brewers in December after posting a 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings last season. He's a better pitcher than his numbers showed in 2010.

Thu Dec 2 201021:09Brewers non-tender righty Todd Coffey
Brewers non-tendered RHP Todd Coffey.
Coffey, 30, registered an ugly 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings this past season. He would have gained a raise via arbitration from the $2.025 million that he earned in 2010 and the Brewers wanted to avoid that kind of payout. The righty should find offers on the open market.
