"I talk to guys about how they feel but in the end I decide when to give them a day off. Mentally, physically he needs a day." Bourn was hitting .309 in his previous 22 starts before grounding out in a pinch-hit at-bat on Sunday.

He'd been absolutely horrible since rejoining the Braves, hitting .138/.240/.154 in 65 at-bats, but Bourn finally broke out in this one. Still, Bourn has not aged gracefully, and games like this are much more likely to be the exception than the rule.

Bourn is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees.

The veteran Bourn continues to receive days off, suggesting he may not necessarily be considered the team's everyday left fielder. Nick Swisher will receive the start in left field Friday, batting cleanup for the Braves.

Bourn is out of Monday's lineup against the Rockies, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Bourn's absence Monday is his third straight, though it could be related to the southpaw Jorge De La Rosa dealing for the Rockies. The veteran outfielder's recent cold streak may have also played into it, but it wouldn't be surprising if his name returns to the lineup card Tuesday.

Bourn is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Bourn will sit for a second straight game in favor of Nick Swisher, who will be rewarded with another turn in left field after hitting homers from both sides of the plate Saturday night. The two former Indians figure to continue sharing the position for the foreseeable future, with manager Fredi Gonzalez most likely riding the hot hand.

Bourn is out of the lineup Saturday.

Bourn has been granted regular playing time of late despite totaling just three hits in his last 29 at-bats. He will start Saturday's game on the bench in favor of Nick Swisher, who will make his first start in left field this season.

Bourn is out of the lineup Friday.

Bourn has been pretty cold of late, notching just one hit in his last 16 at-bats. Jonny Gomes will get the start in left field and hit fourth Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Bourn is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.

Acquired by the Braves on Friday, Bourn is expected to serve as his new team's primary left fielder, though he'll likely find himself out of the lineup against lefty pitching. With southpaw Brad Hand on the mound for the Marlins on Sunday, Jonny Gomes will enter the lineup in place of Bourn.

Bourn will man left field and bat leadoff for the Braves on Saturday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

A day after being traded from Cleveland, Bourn will step in to man left field for Atlanta, a position at which he's made just one appearance since 2008. He will also take over in the leadoff spot, relegating Jace Peterson back to the bottom half of the order, and Bourn said he's under the impression those are the spots he'll occupy on a regular basis.

Bourn was traded to the Braves on Friday along with Nick Swisher, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Friday's trade will send Bourn back to his former team as he spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with Atlanta, earning an All-Star nod in 2012. Bourn's batting average, OBP, and stolen base totals have all tapered off in recent years, but his expensive price tag should ensure some playing time for the veteran outfielder.
