Wed Mar 20 201319:54Roy Oswalt hoping to pitch for a contender
Roy Oswalt's agent, Bob Garber, told Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com that his client has been working out on the Mississippi State campus and is "waiting for the right offer from a contender."
Garber says that geography will not be a factor in Oswalt's decision as it was a year ago, and that Oswalt's only focus now is to pitch for a club in contention. Garber also said the veteran right-hander would be willing to pitch in late-inning relief in some cases, though he prefers to start. Oswalt, 35, posted a 5.80 ERA in 17 appearances last season with the Rangers but had a nice 59/11 K/BB ratio over 59 frames.

Wed Jan 30 201314:29Nothing going between Mets, Roy Oswalt
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York was told by a team insider that there's "nothing going on" between the Mets and Roy Oswalt.
Rubin reported over the weekend that the Mets hadn't closed the door on the possibility of adding Oswalt, but it's not happening. It didn't make much sense in the first place, as there isn't room for him in the projected rotation following the addition of Shaun Marcum.

Sat Jan 26 201314:22Report: Mets interested in Roy Oswalt
ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports that the Mets have shown interest in free agent Roy Oswalt.
Despite agreeing to terms with Shaun Marcum earlier this week, a source tells Rubin that the Mets haven't ruled out adding Oswalt to their starting rotation mix. The 35-year-old went 4-3 with a 5.80 ERA in 17 appearances (nine starts) with the Rangers in 2012 while dealing with injuries down the stretch. He remains undecided on whether to continue pitching in 2013 and hasn't received any other known interest in free agency.

Sun Jan 13 201315:55Oswalt may only want to pitch half a season
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo hears that Roy Oswalt "may still want to pitch, but, again, on his terms and perhaps for only a half a season."
Cafardo notes that "many teams have given up trying to persuade him to pitch, feeling the vibe is that he just doesn't want it bad enough." Oswalt, 35, posted a 5.80 ERA over 59 innings for the Rangers in 2012 but did put up a nice 59/11 K/BB ratio. He dealt with a forearm problem down the stretch, and his chronic back issues remain a concern.

Mon Dec 3 201217:59Oswalt undecided about status for 2013
Roy Oswalt is undecided about whether he'll pitch in 2013.
Oswalt was a bust with the Rangers this past season, posting a 5.80 ERA and 59/11 K/BB ratio over 59 innings while dealing with forearm and back issues. While the 35-year-old right-hnader is undecided right now, the right offer could sway him.

The injury was originally diagnosed as flexor muscle soreness in his right elbow, but Dr. Keith Meister thinks it's more of an issue with his forearm. He will not throw for 2-3 days before being re-evaluated. Oswalt will be used as a long man once he's healthy.

Wed Aug 29 201212:35Dodgers 'not enthused' by Roy Oswalt
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, a "Dodgers person didn't seem that enthused" about Roy Oswalt.
The Dodgers are looking for another starting pitcher and Oswalt passed through trade waivers this week, but there doesn't appear to be a match here. The 35-year-old right-hander has a 5.94 ERA and 47/10 K/BB ratio in 50 innings over eight starts and three relief appearances this season with the Rangers.

Tue Aug 28 201210:39Roy Oswalt passes through waivers
Roy Oswalt has passed through trade waivers.
He can now be dealt to any team, though his 5.94 ERA and 1.56 WHIP will probably keep most contending clubs at bay. Oswalt agreed to a one-year, $5 million free agent contract with the Rangers back in late May.

Thu Aug 23 201223:48Oswalt struggles in no-decision vs. Twins
Roy Oswalt struggled in a no-decision against the Twins on Thursday, surrendering four runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Oswalt punched out four while walking one on the evening. His comeback with the Rangers this season has not gone swimmingly at all, as he's compiled a 4-2 record, 6.12 ERA and 47/10 K/BB ratio over his first 50 innings. While there may still be time for the veteran right-hander to turn things around, he isn't an option in any fantasy format at this point.

Wed Aug 22 201217:36Oswalt to make spot start Thursday
Roy Oswalt will make a spot start on Thursday night against the Twins.
Oswalt is filling in for Yu Darvish, who is being skipped in the Rangers' rotation because of a tight right quad. Oswalt should be avoided for fantasy purposes despite pitching fairly well last week against Toronto.

Sat Aug 18 201216:23Oswalt gives up one run in spot start
Roy Oswalt allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a spot-start against the Blue Jays.
Oswalt, who started in place of Ryan Dempster, allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five. The only run scored on an RBI single by Adeiny Hechavarria in the bottom of the third inning. The veteran right-hander gave the Rangers what they needed, but he's set to head back to the bullpen since Dempster will return Monday. He isn't worth owning in mixed fantasy leagues.

Fri Aug 17 201215:41Roy Oswalt to start Saturday
Roy Oswalt will start Saturday against the Blue Jays in place of Ryan Dempster.
Dempster is stepping away from the team for personal reasons. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be gone, so it's conceivable that Oswalt could wind up receiving multiple starts. He posted a 6.49 ERA in six starts with the Rangers before being demoted to a long relief role.

Wed Aug 8 201217:25Roy Oswalt gives up four runs in relief
Roy Oswalt was roughed up in relief Wednesday, allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings versus Boston.
Will Middlebrooks hit a three-run homer off him. It was Oswalt's first poor outing in three appearances since he was shifted to the pen. All of the damage came in the seventh inning after he was originally brought in to get the final out of the fifth. Of course, Oswalt faced criticism Sunday and Monday after declining to go back out for a third inning of work over the weekend.
