Mon Mar 28 201117:16Padres acquire INF Gonzalez from Nationals
Padres acquired INF Alberto Gonzalez from the Nationals for RHP Erik Davis and cash considerations.
It was pretty obvious the Nationals weren't going to carry Gonzalez on their Opening Day roster, so this possibility has been discussed for a few days now. Gonzalez, who turns 28 in April, doesn't bring much to the table offensively, but can play all over the infield. He can safely be ignored from a fantasy perspective.

Sun Mar 27 201111:03Teams interested in Alberto Gonzalez
Nationals MLB.com beat writer Bill Ladson reports that the A's, Astros, Padres and Braves have "serious" interest in utilityman Alberto Gonzalez.
Though he can't hit a lick, Gonzalez offers the ability to play all over the infield, making him a viable bench player. He doesn't figure to cost much. Gonzalez batted just .247/.277/.301 with five RBI in 186 at-bats with the Nationals last season.

Fri Dec 3 201000:57Nats agree to one-year deal with Gonzalez
The Nationals and INF Alberto Gonzalez avoided arbitration Thursday by agreeing to a one-year contract.
Gonzalez, who turns 28 in April, batted just .247/.277/.301 with five RBI in 186 at-bats with the Nationals last season. He doesn't do much with the bat, but can play multiple infield positions and is a fairly competent defender.
