Tue Jul 6 201000:39Robertson does enough to win Monday
Nate Robertson was good enough to win Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) over six frames in the 6-5 win over the Dodgers.
He allowed seven hits and walked one while striking out two. The win moved him to an even 6-6 on the season, and he holds a 4.94 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. We'd like to see Robertson bumped from the rotation and the Marlins give a younger guy with upside a shot, but of the many options, Sean West is really the only one that's pitched well in the minors this year. Robertson's next start will come Saturday in Arizona.
Tue Jun 29 201022:50Robertson takes no-decision vs. Mets
Nate Robertson gave up four runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday.
It wasn't the most impressive effort, but Robertson was in position for the victory when he left the game. Closer Leo Nunez blew the save in the top of the ninth. All told, Robertson scattered seven hits while walking a pair and striking out one. He now has a 4.97 ERA and a 52/34 K/BB ratio over 15 starts and one relief appearances this season. He remains a poor fantasy bet.
Thu Jun 24 201022:36Robertson hammered for 5 ER in loss to O's
Nate Robertson was hammered for seven hits and five earned runs in 2 1/3 innings Thursday as the Marlins lost to the Orioles.
Robertson is now 5-6 on the season with a 4.89 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. He issued a walk and only struck out two batters, and each of the relievers behind him allowed runs as well. Robertson should be unowned in fantasy leagues.
Fri Jun 18 201022:22Robertson notches win vs. Rays
Nate Robertson yielded three runs -- two earned -- over six innings in a win over the Rays on Friday night.
It was his first win since May 15. Robertson yielded five hits while walking just one and striking out a season-high six. He now has a 4.44 ERA and through 13 starts and one relief appearance this season. He has failed to complete seven innings in any of his starts this season, so it's hard to get excited about him in most matchups, even against the Orioles next week.
Sat Jun 5 201018:30Robertson takes loss vs. Mets
Nate Robertson was knocked around for six runs over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday afternoon.
Robertson is winless over his last four starts. The Mets entered play on Saturday with a NL-best .289 batting average against left-handers, so Robertson had a pretty tough assignment here. He gave up seven hits -- including a two-run home run to David Wright in the third inning -- while striking out five and walking one. With a 1.53 WHIP and 38/29 K/BB ratio over 63 1/3 innings this season, there's very little for fantasy owners to get excited about here.
Wed May 5 201022:05Robertson can't make it out of sixth inning
Nate Robertson yielded three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.
Robertson was removed with one out in the sixth inning after becoming completely unraveled and throwing just 75 pitches. He continues to pitch well at the outset of games before hitters adjust on him. The more National League batters that face him, the more that will happen.
Wed Apr 28 201015:39Marlins' Robertson takes loss on short rest
Pitching on three days' rest, Nate Robertson gave up five runs over four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Padres.
The Marlins needed a starter to come back on short rest after Saturday's doubleheader and Robertson was the choice. He had the same outing today that he did Saturday, so he's now 2-2 with a 5.18 ERA on the season. He still needs to be treated as a spot starter in NL-only leagues.
Sun Apr 18 201016:34Marlins' Robertson goes 6 1/3 scoreless
Nate Robertson tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings to defeat the Phillies on Sunday.
He walked four, struck out four, and gave up four hits. He departed with two runners on and one out in the seventh, but Burke Badenhop bailed him out and then Leo Nunez closed it out in the ninth. Robertson has an impressive 2.20 ERA through three outings, as the move to the National League has certainly been to his liking. Still, it's important to remember that Nate Robertson just isn't a very good pitcher and any success is likely to be short-lived. Sell-high in NL-only leagues, especially with an outing in Coors Field due up next.
Thu Apr 8 201022:14Robertson strong over five innings for Fish
Nate Robertson limited the Mets to one earned run in five innings Thursday as the Marlins grabbed a 3-1 victory.
A nice showing by Robertson and a nice start to the season for the Fish, who won the three-game set and stand 2-1. Robertson racked up four strikeouts without walking a batter and is a guy to watch in mixed leagues. Leo Nunez recorded his first save of the season with a flawless ninth inning.
