Tue Jan 28 201418:26Angels ink Brennan Boesch to minors deal
Angels signed OF Brennan Boesch to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Boesch batted .275/.302/.529 with three homers over 23 games for the Yankees last season and then failed to catch on elsewhere after being released in July. The 28-year-old was productive at times in the past for the Tigers but could be facing an uphill battle to crack the Angels' Opening Day roster.

Fri Jul 19 201318:58Yanks unconditionally release Brennan Boesch
Yankees released OF Brennan Boesch.
Boesch was the casualty with the Yankees needing to make room for Brent Lillibridge on the 40-man roster before Friday's game. The 28-year-old outfielder hit .275/.302/.529 with three homers and eight RBI during his 23 games with the Bombers. He shouldn't have a problem catching on elsewhere.

Brennan Boesch was removed from Wednesday's game at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre due to shoulder tightness.

Boesch is the odd man out now that Andy Pettitte is back from the disabled list. The 28-year-old is batting .275 (14-for-51) with three home runs and eight RBI in sporadic playing time with the Yankees this season. He figures to return later this summer.

Wed May 29 201323:21Boesch homers, collects three hits Wednesday
Brennan Boesch went 3-for-4 with his third home run of the season in the Yankees' loss to the Mets on Wednesday.
The outfielder drove in two runs on the night, and his three-hit night raised his season line to .271/.300/.542. He's been relegated to part-time duty, but with the injury to Curtis Granderson and his respectable line he could start seeing more at-bats in the near future.

Tue Apr 9 201318:52Brennan Boesch taking grounders at 1B
Brennan Boesch has been taking ground balls at first base.
Boesch hasn't played the position since high school, but the Yankees want him comfortable enough at the position as another option beyond Lyle Overbay and Kevin Youkilis. "If I was horrible, I'd tell them, don't even try," Boesch said. "But I feel like every day I get a little better and every day I feel like I can help the team if they need me over there soon enough."

Fri Mar 22 201315:35Boesch doesn't think rib injury is big deal
Brennan Boesch (rib cage) doesn't believe his rib cage injury to be a concern.
"I wouldn't classify this as an injury," said the outfielder. It sounds like Boesch probably doesn't have an oblique injury, which is a relief since it surely would have kept him out Opening Day. The Yankees haven't provided an update on his status, but it appears to be a day-to-day situation.

Fri Mar 22 201311:20Brennan Boesch out with rib cage injury
Brennan Boesch was scratched from Friday's lineup with a stiff left rib cage.
It was Boesch's right oblique that he tweaked earlier this spring when he was still with the Tigers. While it's good that it's not an aggravation of the previous injury, his status for Opening Day should probably be considered up in the air.

Sat Mar 16 201309:29Brennan Boesch makes debut with Yankees
Brennan Boesch will make his Yankees' debut Saturday.
Boesch was signed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal after being released by the Tigers earlier this week. He should see the majority of his playing time in a left field platoon with Matt Diaz this season, but could also battle injury-prone Travis Hafner for some at-bats at the DH spot.

Fri Mar 15 201319:22Yankees sign Brennan Boesch to 1-year deal
Yankees signed OF Brennan Boesch to a one-year, $1.5 million deal.
Jon Heyman of CBS reported the story earlier in the afternoon, and it's now officially done. Boesch receives a major league deal, and could earn more than the $1.5 million based on incentives. While he struggled in 2012, he's just a year removed from hitting .283/.341/.458 with 16 homers and 54 RBI in just 423 at-bats with the Tigers. His left-handed power should play well at Yankee Stadium, and immediately makes him an interesting name in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Fri Mar 15 201316:58Report: Yankees sign Brennan Boesch
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees have signed Brennan Boesch.
It was a logical fit from the moment Boesch was released by the Tigers earlier this week. He figures to get playing time in left field, which frees up Juan Rivera to platoon at first base if the Yankees can't find better options. The 27-year-old batted just .240/.286/.372 with 12 home runs and a .659 OPS in 132 games last season.

Wed Mar 13 201314:16Red Sox discussing Brennan Boesch
Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are "talking internally" about Brennan Boesch.
Boesch was released by the Tigers on Wednesday and his name has already come up as a possibility with multiple teams. According to Abraham, the Red Sox are trying to determine if he could be an upgrade for their bench.

Wed Mar 13 201312:35Report: Mets interested in Brennan Boesch
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman writes that the Mets "appear" to have interest in Brennan Boesch.
Like the Astros, the Mets are particularly weak in the outfield, so it stands to reason that they would have interest. The Mets are committed to giving Lucas Duda a shot in left field, but there could be an opportunity in right field. As of now, the Mets appear prepared to open the season with a platoon of Marlon Byrd and Mike Baxter.

Wed Mar 13 201311:23Astros to consider signing Boesch
Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Astros will consider signing Brennan Boesch.
The Astros have one of the least talented outfields in the majors, so it's not surprise to hear that they could take a flier. Boesch really struggled last season, but he doesn't turn 28 until April and has power potential.

Wed Mar 13 201310:10Report: Yanks will look into Brennan Boesch
Joel Sherman of the New York Post was told by a source that the Yankees will at least look into the possibility of signing Brennan Boesch.
We figure many other teams will also be in the mix, but Boesch is a reasonable fit for the Yankees since he bats left-handed and has experience in both corner outfield spots. The 27-year-old batted just .240/.286/.372 with 12 home runs and a .659 OPS in 132 games last season and was given his release by the Tigers on Wednesday.

Wed Mar 13 201309:28Tigers release outfielder Brennan Boesch
Tigers released OF Brennan Boesch.
It was obvious that Boesch was the odd-man out in Detroit, but he was still tendered a contract over the winter. While the two sides later agreed to a one-year $2.3 million deal to avoid arbitration, the deal was not guaranteed, so the Tigers will only be responsible for one-sixth of the contract. The 27-year-old has power and has shown some potential, so we figure he won't be out of a job for long.

Tue Mar 5 201320:15Brennan Boesch homers on Tuesday
Brennan Boesch went 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk in four plate appearances Tuesday against Western Michigan.
Boesch has yet to make his Grapefruit League debut because of an oblique strain, but his first game action Tuesday was obviously encouraging. "It felt great," Boesch said. "I felt excited. I was even nervous before, you know, just getting back out there. It feels great to play a sport I love again. It's been a while. ... I've been patient in my return, and I'm glad it has paid off." It's possible Boesch will play Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
