Thu May 19 201121:54Talbot does well in rehab start
Mitch Talbot (elbow) allowed one run over four innings Thursday in a rehab start for Triple-A Columbus.
Talbot struck out five and issued just one walk. He could have gone longer, and the Indians probably would have liked him to, but the game was called due to rain. The right-hander is aiming to return next week.

Mitch Talbot (elbow) had a "pain-free" 45-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in an extended spring game Friday.
So far, so good. Talbot will probably make a start or two for Triple-A Columbus following Friday's outing. If all goes well, he should be back in mid-May.

Mon Apr 18 201119:05Talbot (elbow) expected to miss four weeks
Indians trainer Lonnie Soloff said Monday that Mitch Talbot (elbow) will be sidelined for at least four weeks before pitching in minor league rehab games.
Just a little bit longer than what we previously heard. Talbot had a 1.46 ERA and 11/5 K/BB ratio over his first two starts before hitting the DL with a strained right elbow last week. We're expecting him back with the Indians in late-May.

Sun Apr 17 201111:32Talbot says elbow injury not serious
Mitch Talbot said his elbow injury is "definitely not a serious thing."
"We had an MRI and it was negative," Talbot said. "The doctor said I have some inflammation caused by a strain of the UCL (ulnar collateral ligament). It's just going to take some time.'' Talbot was feeling "a little extra-sore" after his last start, and the gameplan was to just push him back a few days, but the elbow "just wasn't coming back." He expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

Sun Apr 17 201109:37Mitch Talbot lands on disabled list
Indians placed RHP Mitch Talbot on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow.
The Indians had pushed Talbot's start back but said it was because they wanted to keep Fausto Carmona on his regular routine. Clearly, though, there was something else going on. The Indians are expected him to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks. It's not clear who will take his place in the rotation on Tuesday.

Fri Apr 15 201117:18Talbot pushed back to Tuesday
The Indians have pushed Mitch Talbot's next start back to next Tuesday against the Royals.
Nothing is wrong with Talbot, but Indians manager Manny Acta said he wants Fausto Carmona to pitch every fifth day. Carmona will pitch Sunday's finale against the Orioles while Carlos Carrasco will start Monday's series opener against the Royals.

Tue Apr 12 201100:47Indians' Talbot goes eight scoreless in win
Mitch Talbot pitched eight innings of shutout ball Monday in a win over the Angels.
Talbot lasted just 4 1/3 innings against the Red Sox in his season debut, but he was able to get 24 outs tonight. He allowed just five hits, four of them singles. He struck out four and walked two in the gem. Talbot still isn't really recommended in AL-only leagues, but he does look like a better bet with Cleveland's offense off to such a hot start.

Wed Apr 6 201122:50Talbot fans seven, but can't get the win
Mitch Talbot could make it through just 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking three in Cleveland's 8-4 victory over the Red Sox.
The strikeouts were nice to see, but required a ton of pitches, as Talbot was already up to 102 at the time of his departure. He shouldn't have to labor quite as much in his next scheduled outing, which is set for Monday evening against the Angels.

Fri Mar 25 201118:12Talbot shelled by Brewers
Mitch Talbot got rocked by the Brewers on Friday afternoon, allowing 14 hits and seven runs in six innings of work.
The low point came when he allowed a sixth inning grand slam to Carlos Gomez, who has all of 15 career home runs. Talbot has now more or less been ineffective in four of his six spring starts, and owns an 8.61 ERA through 23 innings. He'll begin the season in Cleveland's rotation, but will likely be on a short leash.

Tue Mar 15 201118:12Talbot holds Brewers in check
Mitch Talbot held the Brewers' bats in check Tuesday, limiting them to one run on six hits and no walks over five innings.
The right-hander struck out three. Talbot needed this strong effort, as he came into today holding an 18.90 ERA over his first 6 2/3 spring innings. The 27-year-old faded badly down the stretch last season but is penciled in as a member of the Indians rotation.

Mon Mar 7 201116:25Talbot hammered by White Sox
Mitch Talbot got absolutely shelled by the White Sox on Monday, surrendering six hits, two walks and nine runs in just 1 2/3 innings.
Two of those six hits were Alex Rios home runs. Talbot has yet to strike out anybody in 3 2/3 innings this spring, and sure isn't doing a good job of erasing memories of his late-season fade last year by posting a 27.00 ERA.

Thu Mar 3 201116:20Talbot struggles in spring debut
Mitch Talbot surrendered two runs over two innings Thursday against the Rangers.
He gave up four hits -- including a home run to Ian Kinsler -- while walking one and failing to record a strikeout. Talbot got off to a strong start in his rookie season last year but faded down the stretch and dealt with shoulder issues. He'll be aiming to improve upon that 1.49 WHIP and ugly 88/69 K/BB ratio.

Wed Feb 16 201117:42Indians want Talbot pitching the whole year
The Indians are expecting Mitch Talbot to pitch a full slate of innings this season.
As they should. Talbot threw 159-plus frames last season for the Tribe, amassing a 4.41 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. As long as he is healthy and semi-effective, the 27-year-old righty will be going the distance in 2011.

Wed Sep 29 201018:39Indians' Talbot combines on shutout
Mitch Talbot blanked the Tigers for seven innings Wednesday as the Indians won the first game of a doubleheader 4-0.
Talbot, showing the form that made him the AL's best rookie starter over the first couple of months, allowed five hits, walked none and struck out five. He ends the year 10-13 with a 4.41 ERA. The Indians may make him work for a spot in spring training, but he'll likely be back in their rotation next year. He won't be recommended in fantasy leagues.

Thu Sep 23 201022:42Talbot gives up three runs over five
Mitch Talbot allowed three runs over five innings in Thursday's loss to the Royals.
The right-hander gave up five hits, walked three and struck out two. It was his first start since he left his September 12 outing with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, and although the results weren't great, he seems to have at least come through healthy. Talbot, who now has a 4.61 ERA and 1.53 WHIP on the year, gets the Tigers his next time out.
Tue Sep 21 201012:23Mitch Talbot throws successful bullpener
Mitch Talbot (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session Monday.
"I was all over the place," Talbot said. "But the ball was coming out firm, and I feel good. That's all we're looking for right now." Sidelined since September 12 with shoulder inflammation, he is aiming to return to the Indians' rotation for his scheduled Thursday outing vs. the Royals.
