Wed May 2214:59Jonatan Clase Underperforming Since Demotion
Seattle Mariners outfield prospectJonatan Clasewas promoted to the big-league roster on April 15. Before that, he was 14-for-45 in Triple-A Tacoma with four doubles, two triples, four home runs, 11 RBI, and three steals. In the majors, he went 6-for-27 with a double and two stolen bases. However, he was sent back down to Triple-A at the end of April. Since his demotion, he's 13-for-60 with three doubles, a triple, two homers, five RBI, and three steals. Some of the differences in production can explained by a disparity in BABIP. Before getting called up, Clase had a .375 BABIP, well above the league average of .300. Since being demoted, his BABIP is .275. Despite the dip in production, Clase still has an impressive .373 OBP and .400 SLG since rejoining the Triple-A squad. The 21-year-old is on the taxi squad and could be promoted to the big leagues soon.

Mon Apr 2918:24Jonatan Clase Optioned To Minors
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. The 21-year-old struggled during his brief stint with the team. He slashed .222/.250/.259 with zero home runs and three RBI in 28 plate appearances. Clase has plenty of potential and should get another shot later in the summer. In the meantime, outfielder Sam Haggerty has been recalled to take the spot on the active roster. He was hitting well in the minors, but is unlikely to do enough to carry viable fantasy value.

Mon Apr 1500:28Jonatan Clase Will Join Mariners On Monday
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase will join the big league club on Monday in place of Dominic Canzone, who is headed to the IL. Clase, the Mariners' number 10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has mashed in Triple-A so far this season, triple-slashing .308/.404/.641 with two homers and two steals. The 21-year-old should have ample opportunity for playing time in a struggling Mariners lineup. He could be a solid speculative add for fantasy, as he provides decent pop and plenty of speed.

Tue May 2 202308:18Jonatan Clase Enjoys Another Big Week
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase is coming off a big week at High-A in which he went 11-for-28 with four doubles, four homers, and seven RBI. He also tallied three walks, eight strikeouts, and four stolen bases. Outside of the high strikeout rate, these are impressive results that could translate to a long and successful career for Clase. A talented baserunner with similarly promising bat-to-ball skills, Clase's strong month of April should generate some long-term interest in dynasty leagues.

Mon Apr 24 202322:45Jonatan Clase Posting Big Numbers In Minors
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonatan Clase, at 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, is an undersized speed threat who signed with the club back in 2018. Scouts instantly fell in love with his baserunning, but once he joined the Mariners' organization, he started to show off promising bat-to-ball skills and equally impressive power. The outfielder's top-notch bat speed was presumably the source of his unexpected surge of home runs in 2022, and that appears to be continuing into 2023. The 20-year-old is coming off a big week at High-A in which he went 7-for-21 with three homers, seven RBI, six walks, and nine strikeouts. He also stole a whopping seven bases during this five-game span. Clase showed a little bit of everything at the plate, and while he's still a while from reaching the majors, there's no doubt that he could have a significant fantasy impact in the future if his power is truly here to stay.
