Sat Apr 9 201114:06Chris Jakubauskas recalled to start Sunday
Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Chris Jakubauskas from Triple-A Norfolk.
He'll make a spot start Sunday so that Jeremy Guthrie (pneumonia) can get a couple extra days of rest. Jakubauskas, who spent nearly all of 2010 in the minors, will likely be sent back down right after making the start. He's not a recommended fantasy play against the Rangers.

The contract does not include an invite to spring training. Jakubauskas, 32, was struck in the face by a line drive in his lone appearance in the big leagues last season as a member of the Pirates. The right-hander had a 5.32 ERA and 47/27 K/BB ratio over 93 innings with the Mariners in 2009.

Pirates transferred RHP Chris Jakubauskas from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
The move opens up a spot for catcher Erik Kratz on the 40-man roster. Jakubauskas has been on the DL since April 25 with a concussion, so this changes nothing for him. His rehab was set back earlier this month with a groin injury.

This guy just doesn't have any luck. Jakubauskas suffered the injury during his first rehab outing on Thursday. The 31-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since sustaining a concussion on a comebacker on April 24. Like Steve Pearce, he is expected to be re-evaluated this weekend.

Sat May 29 201011:53Jakubauskas to throw side session Saturday
Chris Jakubauskas, out since he sustained a concussion on April 24, will throw his first side session since the incident Saturday.
The Pirates have had trouble keeping their starting pitchers healthy, but Jakubauskas appears to be on the road to recovery. He's still at least a week or more away from going out on a rehab assignment, but we should start to see a timetable for his return once he completes a few more side sessions.

Chris Jakubauskas has been symptom-free for close to two weeks, but still hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activities.
Jakubauskas will accompany the Pirates to Atlanta this weekend and hopefully the Bucs' medical team will give him clearance to do some throwing by the end of the trip. He's been on the disabled list with a concussion since taking a Lance Berkman line drive to the face on April 24.

Mon May 17 201009:52Jakubauskas still out with post-concussion
The Astros are taking it easy with Chris Jakubauskas as he continues his recovery from post-concussion syndrome.
"We're trying to get him to the point where he can ride a bike at more than a leisurely pace," Pirates GM Neal Huntington said Sunday. Jakubauskas is still a few weeks from being able to throw off a mound. He allowed two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning before hitting the disabled list in April.

Sun May 9 201012:39Jakubauskas faced with concussion symptoms
Chris Jakubauskas has been experiencing dizziness as he attempts to return from the concussion he sustained after being hit in the head by Lance Berkman in late April.
Jakubauskas needs to be symptom-free before he can be cleared to play, but hasn't been able to even play catch without feeling dizzy. One can only think of players like Corey Koskie and Mike Matheny who had their careers shortened by concussion issues, but hopefully this is just a temporary set back for Jakubauskas and he'll return soon.

Sun Apr 25 201012:51Jakubauskas heads to disabled list
Pirates place RHP Chris Jakubauskas on the 15-day disabled list with a concussion.
Not a bit surprising given how hard he was hit. Jakubauskas will rest until he feels up to pitching, which could be close to the minimum depending on how quickly his symptoms subside and whether or not he develops post concussion syndrome.
Sat Apr 24 201019:23Jakubauskas nailed in face with comebacker
Chris Jakubauskas was nailed in the face with a Lance Berkman line drive Saturday and was lifted from the game.
The ugly scene took place in the bottom of the first inning. Jakubauskas allowed two hits in two-thirds of an inning before departing on a cart. He's likely to spend the next few weeks on the disabled list.

Fri Apr 23 201017:28Pirates call up Jakubauskas
Pirates recalled RHP Chris Jakubauskas from Triple-A Indianapolis.
It sounds like the Pirates are going to put Kevin Hart into their rotation next week, so Jakubauskas may just hang around to provide innings in middle relief until then. The minor league veteran had a 4.50 ERA in his first two starts for Indianapolis.
