Lake is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Mon Apr 27 201517:03Lake recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday
Lake was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday.
Lake will provide the Cubs with some extra depth in the outfield and another bat off the bench. His strikeout rate has dropped this season to a more manageable pace, but the question remains whether or not it will carry over to the majors. He will be available off the bench Monday, while Brian Schlitter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa to open up a spot for him on the 25-man roster.
Wed Apr 1 201516:28Lake optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday
Lake was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
Lake entered 2014 as a starting outfielder for the Cubs, but poor performance led to a demotion to Triple-A. He will begin 2014 there once again, and has no clear path to the majors at this point.
Thu Mar 26 201523:30Lake has played little at third base this spring
Lake has played a little at third base this spring, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
It's doubtful Lake will see any time at the hot corner this year, as the position will be held by Mike Olt and Tommy La Stella until Kris Bryant gets into town sometime in April. Still, the versatility can't hurt, and with Chris Denorfia possibly heading to the DL with a sore hamstring, Lake's chances of making the team aren't bad.

Lake was removed from Friday's spring game after suffering an apparent injury on a stolen base attempt, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
It's not clear what type of setback forced Lake from Friday's game, but he was able to walk off the field under his own power. Expect the Cubs to provide an update on his status in the near future.
Tue Sep 2 201414:43Lake recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday
Lake was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
Lake will provide the Cubs with depth in the outfield, a position currently short two bodies in Ryan Sweeney and Justin Ruggiano due to injury. The team has three solid starters right now, but Lake will provide them with extra depth, and will likely see spot starts in center and left field.
Fri Aug 15 201422:33Lake optioned to Triple-A
Lake has been optioned to Triple-A, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
The move was made to open up a roster spot for Dan Straily, who will start for the Cubs on Saturday. Lake has been in a long slump, and a stint in the PCL during the final weeks of the minor league season could help him regain his confidence ahead of a likely return to Chicago when rosters expand in September.
Sun Jul 20 201410:14Junior Lake could be sent down
Junior Lake could be optioned to Triple-A Iowa soon.
The Cubs will make a few moves to add pitchers over the next few days, and they'd like to keep Arismendy Alcantara on the roster. That could mean Lake and/or Mike Olt will be optioned to the minors. Lake is hitting just .219/.246/.385 for the season with a hideous 93/10 K/BB ratio, while Olt is batting .142/.226/.361 with an 81/19 K/BB ratio.

Mon Jun 30 201422:25Junior Lake strikes out four times
Junior Lake fanned all four times he was up Monday against the Red Sox.
In a fit of petulance, Lake broke his bat over his knee after the second one. He's hitless in his last 13 at-bats now, with seven strikeouts mixed in, and his on-base percentage for the year is down to .259. If this keeps up, he might find himself back in Triple-A for a few weeks.

Sat Jun 28 201416:55Junior Lake goes hitless in return to lineup
Junior Lake returned to the Cubs starting lineup on Saturday, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in a losing effort against the Nationals.
As a team, the Cubs only mustered three total hits against Gio Gonzalez and company on Saturday, so Lake wasn't the only one who had a rough day. He continues to see time in the leadoff slot, despite a poor .235/.264/.413 line on the season.

Junior Lake left Thursday's game against the Nationals after colliding with the outfield wall.
Lake slid into the metal door in right center at Wrigley Field and appeared to hit his left leg, shoulder and head on the wall. The good news is that he was able to walk off the field on his own and was smiling as he did so. The Cubs should provide an update on his status shortly.

Wed Jun 25 201400:48Lake scores twice in Cubs' victory over Reds
Junior Lake went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.
Lake had a single and a walk in the game, scoring in the sixth and eighth innings. The outfielder is hitting just .243/.274/.428 but has spent most of the year hitting in a prime spot ahead of Anthony Rizzo in the Cubs' lineup. He's a frustrating player to own, but Lake's power-speed combo makes him a viable option in NL-only leagues.

Tue Jun 10 201422:45Lake logs two hits, steals base vs. Pirates
Junior Lake went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.
Lake hasn't done a whole lot at the dish this season, but he was able to use his speed to help the Cubs generate some offense. He swiped his seventh bag of the season in the first inning, then reached on a bunt single in the seventh inning and scored on Anthony Rizzo's double. Lake is slashing .242/.273/.438 on the season.

Sat Jun 7 201419:40Junior Lake hits two solo homers
Junior Lake hit a pair of solo homers Saturday against the Marlins.
He's not a leadoff man, but just about every good thing Lake has done this season has come with the bases empty; he's hit .164 in 67 at-bats with runners on and .162 in 37 at-bats with RISP. The Cubs are playing him pretty regularly in left field right now, and he has the speed and power to amass fantasy value while in the lineup most of the time. Still, he's only a starter until someone better comes along.

Sun May 25 201421:18Lake hits sixth home run against Padres
Junior Lake went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Padres.
Lake took Padres starter Ian Kennedy deep for the only run against the right-hander in his start. It was Lake's sixth homer of the year. The outfielder has a surprisingly effective .273/.304/.482 line with five stolen bases to go with those six dingers.

Tue May 13 201400:36Junior Lake homers, drives in six in rout
Junior Lake had a three-run homer, two doubles and six RBI as the Cubs trounced the Cardinals 17-5 on Monday.
A new low for the Cardinals this season. Lake's outburst nearly doubled his season total in RBI; he had eight in his previous 92 at-bats. He topped his previous career high for RBI by two. Lake mostly started against left-handers at the beginning of the season, but injuries have expanded his role and he's been hitting righties better than lefties anyway. He's the Cubs' best outfielder for fantasy purposes right now, though that's not saying a whole lot.

Wed May 7 201400:45Lake steals fourth base in loss to White Sox
Junior Lake had a stolen base and a run scored in a loss to the White Sox on Tuesday.
Lake's run in the fifth inning was the Cubs' only run scored in the game. The 24-year-old has four stolen bases to go with three home runs in 28 games. He's hitting just .241/.265/.430, but NL-only owners could do worse than the dual-threat outfielder.
