Tue Sep 24 201323:42Todd Redmond solid on Tuesday
Todd Redmond yielded two runs over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday's 3-2 extra innings win over the Orioles.
Redmond was fortunate to only give up the two runs. He allowed a pair of solo homers, but that's all he was charged with despite giving up eight hits and walking a pair. Redmond has been better than expected during his time in the Blue Jays' rotation this season, posting a 3.80 ERA while striking out 71 over 68 2/3 frames. He's in line to start the regular season finale on Sunday against the Rays.

Thu Sep 19 201322:19Todd Redmond fans seven in win over Yankees
Todd Redmond pitched seven innings of one-run ball and struck out seven in a win over the Yankees on Thursday.
It's not all that shocking that Redmond is having some modest success in the majors, but that he's managed 73 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings while facing an AL East schedule qualifies as a big surprise. It also provides some hope that he can help the Blue Jays next year. The home run ball is always going to be an issue, though. He gave up his 11th tonight, a solo shot to Curtis Granderson in the sixth.

Fri Sep 13 201322:05Redmond handed no-decision vs. Orioles
Todd Redmond yielded one run over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday.
He deserved better. Redmond was excellent, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out seven. He was pulled in the seventh inning with a 3-0 lead, but the Orioles quickly tied things up against Dustin McGowan and Sergio Santos. Redmond will hope for better luck next week when he faces the Yankees.

Sat Sep 7 201308:19Blue Jays to skip Todd Redmond's next start
The Blue Jays will utilize Monday's off-day to skip Todd Redmond's turn in the rotation.
There is nothing wrong with the 28-year-old right-hander, the Jays would just prefer to use their top starters as much as possible over the season's final three weeks. Redmond has registered a 4.40 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 59/19 K/BB ratio over 57 1/3 innings of work with the Blue Jays.

Wed Aug 28 201322:16Redmond strikes out seven in win over Yankees
Todd Redmond allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Yankees on Wednesday.
Redmond has been surprisingly good in the majority of his starts this season, and the right-hander held the Yankees to three hits and four walks while striking out seven on Wednesday. The win moved him to 2-2, and he owns a 4.30 ERA through 52 1/3 innings this year. He'll make his next start Tuesday at the Diamondbacks.

Sat Aug 24 201300:00Todd Redmond struggles in loss to Astros
Todd Redmond was rocked for eight runs (seven earned) over 3 1/3 innings in Friday's loss to the Astros.
Those fantasy owners who gambled with the favorable matchup got burned in a big way. Redmond was scored upon in every inning, including a five-run fifth. His season ERA jumped more than a full run from 3.32 to 4.44 with the stinker. The 28-year-old journeyman was a nice surprise until this point, but it's difficult to rely on him outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.

Sun Aug 18 201318:12Redmond yields 1 run in 6 innings against TB
Todd Redmond twirled six innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Rays on Sunday.
He struck out four, walked one and scattered six hits. Redmond has posted a 2.14 ERA over his last four starts, but he's gone 0-0 in those outings, mostly because the right-hander remains inefficient and wears down once he pushes past 90 pitches. All of which isn't to say that Redmond hasn't been a pleasant surprise. He has been, and has likely done enough to secure a rotation spot for at least a few more turns. Redmond remains 1-1 to go with a 3.32 ERA over 43 1/3 frames.

Tue Aug 13 201323:25Redmond goes 5 1/3 scoreless in no-decision
Todd Redmond threw 5 1/3 shutout innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Redmond, who was recalled from Triple-A to make the start, allowed three hits and a walk while striking out five. He's pitched well enough in his starts with the Jays that he deserved a rotation spot, and with Josh Johnson's injury he'll likely get a shot to stick. His next start will come against the Rays in Tampa on Sunday.

Tue Jul 23 201322:59Todd Redmond allows three runs in no-decision
Todd Redmond allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Redmond pitched well despite the no-decision, giving up seven hits and a walk while striking out six. It was his sixth appearance and just his third start this year, and he's 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA. He's got a nice matchup with the Astros on deck Sunday, but it's hard to advocate using him in anything outside of AL-only leagues.

Sun Jul 7 201316:52Redmond surrenders just one hit in win
Todd Redmond surrendered two runs on just one hit and three walks in Sunday's victory over the Twins.
He struck out four. Redmond's smoke and mirrors act baffled Minnesota's punchless offense -- outside of a two-run homer by Aaron Hicks -- throughout the afternoon. The right-hander only recorded one ground ball out and his thin arsenal isn't a good bet to work in future starts. Redmond improved to 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA over 12 2/3 innings.

Redmond threw three innings of relief on Wednesday, but the Jays think he'll still have enough left in the tank for Sunday. The right-hander has put up a 3.52 ERA and 0.91 WHIP over 7 2/3 relief innings for Toronto this season.

The righty posted a 3.63 ERA and 136/39 K/BB ratio over 148 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level and isn't bad to have around as a long relief option or rotation depth at Triple-A.
