Lyman, 23, has a very spotty minor league track record, but the Braves still thought it was worth adding him to the 40-man roster after he posted a 3.32 ERA in 10 starts and 28 relief appearances between Double- and Triple-A last year. He had a 4.72 ERA and a 26/23 K/BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings out of the pen for Triple-A Gwinnett this year. Command has always been a big problem for him, but if the light switch goes on, he could turn into a quality reliever. The A's will assign him to Double-A Midland. |
