Tue Sep 27 202217:26Nick Castellanos Back From Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned catcher Donny Sands to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Castellanos is starting in right field and is hitting sixth on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Marcus Stroman. The 30-year-old Castellanos missed almost a month with a right oblique strain and didn't go on a minor league rehab assignment, so it remains to be seen how effective he'll be at the plate for fantasy managers to close out what has been a very disappointing first year in Philly. He's returning to a .265/.305/.397 slash line with 13 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 499 at-bats. Castellanos made the All-Star team for the first time in 2021 and hit .309 with a career-high 34 home runs and 100 RBI.

Sat Sep 24 202213:38Nick Castellanos Will Return To The Phillies Next Week
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) will return to the team next week and forego a minor league rehab assignment, according to interim manager Rob Thompson. The 30-year-old outfielder, who has been out since early September, plans to do a full workout on Saturday and Sunday and hopes to rejoin the team for their series against the Chicago Cubs next weekend. If all goes according to plan, he would skip a minor league rehab assignment altogether. The team should provide an update on his status towards the end of this weekend. Castellanos is slashing .265/.305/.397 with 13 home runs, 61 RBI and seven stolen bases over 499 at-bats in what has been an underwhelming first season in Philadelphia.

Fri Sep 16 202218:54Nick Castellanos Suffers Setback
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) is backing off swinging after feeling stiffness in his oblique. Castellanos strained his oblique on September 2, and his progression hasn't gone as planned. He still has no date set for a possible return, and at this point it is fair to question if he will make any impact for fantasy managers the rest of the way. It has been a disaster of a season for the 2021 breakout star, and as soon as he was starting to come around he got injured. His .300/.333/.500 August slash line gives some sense of optimism for 2023 at least.

Sun Sep 4 202213:55Nick Castellanos Lands On The Injured List
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. The 30-year-old outfielder suffered the injury on Friday against the Giants and should be out a few weeks. He had been in and out of the lineup over the last 10 days while dealing with turf toe so perhaps the time off will give him a chance to heal that ailment as well. Outfielder Dalton Guthrie had his contract selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and has been added to the active roster.

Sat Sep 3 202213:29Nick Castellanos Absent From The Phillies Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (toe) is not in the lineup on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants. The 30-year-old outfielder has missed a handful of games over the last week as he's been dealing with turf toe. The issue has been nagging him for about two weeks and it will need to be monitored the rest of the season so fantasy managers should expect him to be in and out of the lineup moving forward. Matt Vierling is starting in right field and batting ninth against Jakob Junis.

Fri Sep 2 202218:53Nick Castellanos Returns To Lineup Friday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (toe) is back in the starting lineup Friday night against Alex Cobb and the San Francisco Giants, batting sixth and playing right field. Castellanos was diagnosed with turf toe earlier in the week and missed three games dealing with the ailment. The 30-year-old has disappointed fantasy managers who drafted him as a 4-category star coming into the year, but he quietly put together a nice August in which he slashed .300/.333/.500 while knocking five long balls in 100 at-bats. If he can continue that productivity in September he could help win a few championships. Get him back in your lineups.

Wed Aug 31 202218:17Nick Castellanos Remains Sidelined Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (toe) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Castellanos is dealing with a case of turf toe and will miss his second straight game. With a scheduled day off on Thursday, there's a chance that he'll be back in the lineup for the start of a series against the San Francisco Giants on Friday. Fantasy managers are hoping he can return soon, as he's gone 30-for-100 (.300) with five home runs, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored in 26 games in August. Matt Vierling will get another start in right field and hit seventh on Wednesday against Diamondbacks left-hander Tommy Henry. On the season, Vierling has a .232 average (56-for-241) with five long balls, 20 RBI, 32 runs scored and six stolen bases for the Phils.

Tue Aug 30 202218:13Nick Castellanos Absent On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (toe) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It sounds like the right-handed slugger is still working through a case of turf toe. This shouldn't sideline him for long and it sounds like he is available off the bench on Tuesday. Fantasy managers might only be without Castellanos for one more game. Kyle Schwarber, Brandon Marsh, and Matt Vierling will patrol the outfield on Tuesday.

Fri Jul 29 202209:59Nick Castellanos Compiles Three Hits On Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos helped the team defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-7 on Thursday. He went 3-for-5 with three singles, an RBI and a run scored in the contest. Despite Thursday's three-hit effort, the 30-year-old has continued to have an underwhelming season from both a real life and fantasy standpoint. He's slashing just .251/.295/.368 on the season. Additionally, he has been in the midst of an extensive home run drought. He hasn't homered since June 30 and has a total of just eight homers on the season.

Thu Jun 30 202221:57Nick Castellanos Hits Three-Run Homer Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos had the stick working in a 14-4 rout of the division-rival Atlanta Braves on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a strikeout to raise his season average to .248. The home run was his eighth of the season, and it ended a month-long drought without a round-tripper. The Phillies are going to need more where that came from with superstar outfielder and last year's National League MVP Bryce Harper (thumb) out six weeks with a fractured thumb. Fantasy managers will also be hoping that Castellanos' big home run on Thursday will jump start him for a big month of July. The 30-year-old right-handed slugger is now up to an even 40 RBI in his first season in Philadelphia.

Mon Jun 27 202213:44Nick Castellanos Adds Four Hits, Stolen Base
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos added four hits in five at-bats Sunday against the San Diego Padres. All four went for singles, and he drove in one run. He also went 1-for-2 in steal attempts, giving him three swiped bags on the year. Fantasy managers are not expecting much speed from the slugger, but it's a nice bonus to go along with his disappointing seven homers and .693 OPS this season. He'll slot into the designated hitter spot more frequently with Bryce Harper (hand) on the shelf, and fantasy managers will hope this kickstarts his performance.

Tue May 31 202213:45Nick Castellanos Homers In Second Straight Game
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went deep again Monday, giving him home runs in back-to-back games. He was 2-for-4 with the solo shot and a strikeout. He now has a modest five-game hitting streak, giving fantasy managers some hope that his .263/.320/.441 slash line for the season should be improving in short order. With seven homers, 24 runs, and 28 RBI on the year, Castellanos hasn't been any kind of slouch, but he's on pace to fall well short of the .938 OPS and 34 home runs he enjoyed in 2021.

Thu May 19 202221:22Nick Castellanos Goes Hitless In Thursday's Game
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos didn't record a hit during Thursday's 2-0 loss to the San Diego Padres. He also struck out once over four at-bats and is now 5 for his last 34. In 37 games, the 30-year-old is slashing .271/.335/.443 with five home runs, 21 RBI, 18 runs, and no stolen bases. Castellanos has the potential to be one of the top sluggers in the game after a 34 HR season in 2021, especially while playing his home games at Citizens Bank Park. Fantasy managers should stay patient and expect him to heat up.

Wed May 4 202215:38Nick Castellanos Back Wednesday, Alec Bohm Leading Off
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday after sitting out on Tuesday after his wife went into labor. He was never placed on the paternity list and is back in right field while hitting second on Wednesday against Texas Rangers left-hander Martin Perez. Meanwhile, third baseman Alec Bohm moves up to the leadoff spot after hitting second on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has earned a move up the order by cutting his strikeout rate to a career-best 14.9% while slashing .309/.373/.455 with a 10.2% barrel rate through the first month of the season. Castellanos needs to be back in all fantasy lineups as well, as he's hitting .286 with three home runs, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored in 23 contests this year.

He is headed to the hospital to be with his wife, who went into labor on Tuesday. It's likely that we won't see Castellanos on the field for at least another day or so due to the circumstance. Roman Quinn is filling in for him in right field on Tuesday and could get another start or two.
