Thu Feb 26 201510:32Bard attempting comeback with Cubs this spring
Bard is attempting a comeback with the Cubs this spring, the team's official site reports.
Bard signed a minor league contract in January after taking off most of last year when he struggled in the minors coming back from a neck injury. He cleared his head by biking across Iowa and taking a long trip to Europe, but it remains to be seen if he can still get hitters out. If he sticks with the Cubs' organization, it'll likely be as a Triple-A pitcher.
Thu Jun 19 201411:58Rangers cut ties with righty Daniel Bard
Rangers released RHP Daniel Bard.
Bard allowed nine walks and 13 earned runs in four appearances -- encompassing just 2/3 innings -- at Triple-A Round Rock. The 28-year-old righty had a 2.88 ERA and 9.7 K/9 in 197 innings between 2009-2011 with the Red Sox but his career has fallen apart since.

Tue Jun 3 201420:15Daniel Bard assigned to Low-A club
Daniel Bard (thoracic outlet surgery) has been assigned to Low-A Hickory.
Bard has been rehabbing from January thoracic outlet surgery and is finally ready to test things out in real games. The Rangers have been encouraged with how he's looked in extended spring training. "His velocity has been 94-97 mph, and in his last outing in Arizona he showed improved consistency with his command," pitching coordinator Danny Clark said. "We're excited to see him under the lights. We should no more after he gets 2-3 outings under his belt."

Mon Feb 24 201420:42Daniel Bard begins throwing program
Daniel Bard (thoracic outlet surgery) has begun a light throwing program.
Bard underwent thoracic outlet surgery on January 2, so it's going to take him a while before he gets close to being game-ready. The Rangers inked the right-hander to a minor league deal last month in hopes that he'll figure out his control issues.

Fri Jan 31 201417:58Rangers bring aboard right-hander Daniel Bard
Rangers signed RHP Daniel Bard to a minor league contract.
The deal was first reported by MLB Network's Peter Gammons, who also reported that Bard recently underwent thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. Bard was non-tendered by the Cubs last month after being claimed off waivers in September. The 28-year-old's control issues the last two years have been well documented, as he has a long way to go before he can be taken seriously as an impact arm again.

Mon Dec 2 201315:13Cubs non-tender righty reliever Daniel Bard
Cubs non-tendered RHP Daniel Bard.
Bard had a miserable 2013 season and has been awful so far in the Puerto Rican Winter League. The 28-year-old right-hander will likely have to settle for a minor league contract on the open market this offseason.

Sun Nov 17 201311:59Daniel Bard struggling in winter ball
Daniel Bard has retired one of 13 batters faced over three outings with Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
Yikes. Bard has actually yet to allow a hit, but he's given up seven earned runs on nine walks, three hit batters and four wild pitches. The Cubs claimed Bard off waivers in September hoping that he'd be able to overcome his wildness, but so far it obviously hasn't worked out. Between the majors and minors, Bard has issued 101 walks over 107 2/3 innings the last two seasons.

Daniel Bard will pitch with Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
The aim is for Bard to get some work in after he was limited to just 16 minor league appearances and two major league appearances this season. The Red Sox finally turned the page on the 28-year-old in September, but the Cubs are hoping to get his career back on track.

Wed Sep 4 201313:51Theo Epstein claims Daniel Bard off waivers
Cubs claimed RHP Daniel Bard off waivers from the Red Sox.
Bard, who was designated for assignment by Boston on Sunday, reunites with former boss Theo Epstein. The 28-year-old has been whipped to the tune of a 6.27 ERA over 60 1/3 big league innings the past two seasons, but he isn't too far removed from accruing a 2.88 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 197 innings between 2009-2011. Bard is arbitration eligible this season and will probably be guaranteed around three times the major league minimum through that process. Epstein can simply non-tender Bard over the winter if this little buy-low experience doesn't work out.

Tue Sep 3 201314:02Report: Twins looking into RP Daniel Bard
The Twins are engaged in "the due-diligence phase on Daniel Bard," according to Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500.
Minnesota, of course, employs Daniel's brother Luke in the farm system. Bard, who was designated for assignment by Boston on Sunday, has posted a 6.27 ERA over 60 1/3 big league innings the past two seasons, but chances are that some team will take a chance on a 28-year-old who logged a 2.88 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 197 innings between 2009-2011.

Sun Sep 1 201310:27Red Sox designate Daniel Bard for assignment
Red Sox designated RHP Daniel Bard for assignment.
The move was made after he walked 10 batters over 2 1/3 innings during his recent rehab assignment. Bard at one time looked like the Red Sox' closer of the future, but he had a disastrous turn in the team's rotation in 2012 and has never been able to recover. However, there's probably a good chance someone will make a claim on him in hopes of harnessing his big arm.

Daniel Bard (abdomen) walked five of the six batters he faced Thursday in the Gulf Coast League.

Mon Aug 26 201313:38Bard (abdomen) throws scoreless GCL frame
Daniel Bard (abdomen) threw a scoreless inning of relief on Monday afternoon in the Gulf Coast League.

Fri Jun 28 201319:28Daniel Bard recovered from abdominal strain
Red Sox manager John Farrell indicated Friday that Daniel Bard is fully recovered from his abdominal strain and could soon return to game action at Double-A Portland.
The 28-year-old right-hander has had another very disappointing season, registering a 6.39 ERA and horrendous 2.37 WHIP over 12 2/3 innings at Double-A. That includes a mind-boggling 6/17 K/BB ratio. He's a long way from contributing at the major league level.

Thu May 16 201317:32Red Sox not shutting down Daniel Bard
Red Sox manager John Farrell said Thursday that the club isn't considering shutting Daniel Bard down or sending him to extended spring training.
He also said that Bard is healthy, though he continues to be in touch with team psychologist Bob Tewksbury. The 27-year-old right-hander has been a complete mess since being optioned to Double-A at the end of April, walking 12 batters in three innings. The Red Sox want him to pitch through it, but they might have to make some changes if he doesn't make progress soon.

Bard seems to have completely lost it. He was optioned to Double-A Portland at the end of April and has now walked 17 batters in 12 2/3 total innings with the Sea Dogs. The Red Sox are not going to give him another try until he figures out his command issues on the farm.
