Tue Jul 26 202200:59Daniel Bard Escapes With 21st Save Monday
Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard managed to navigate an interesting ninth inning to earn his 21st save of the season in Monday's 2-0 win over the Brewers. Bard entered the game to preserve a two-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single, then another runner reached on a fielding error. Bard got the next two hitters out on flyouts, then walked the bases loaded before getting the final out on a loud lineout to second base. While this outing wasn't the cleanest, Bard has been a reliable fantasy option this season, converting all but two save opportunities with a 1.91 ERA and a 10.27 K/9 rate.

Wed Jul 13 202200:29Daniel Bard Earns 19th Save Of Season Tuesday
Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard picked up his 19th save of the season in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Padres. Bard entered to pitch the ninth inning and preserve a two-run lead, delivering a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The veteran has been a solid fantasy closer this season and has converted all but two of his save opportunities with a 2.14 ERA, 10.96 K/9 rate, and 4.54 BB/9 rate. The walks have been higher than fantasy managers would prefer, but the overall results have made him a lineup staple in all leagues.

Wed May 25 202201:00Daniel Bard Earns Multi-Inning Win Tuesday
Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard picked up his second win of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Pirates. Bard entered the game to pitch the ninth inning with the game tied 1-1. He pitched a scoreless inning with a single, a walk, and a strikeout. The Rockies were able to score a run in the top of the 10th, and Bard stayed in to pitch the bottom half of the inning. He shut the door, pitching a 1-2-3 inning with two more strikeouts. The veteran has now turned in two consecutive scoreless outings after allowing runs in his three previous outings and has 10 saves to go with a 3.31 ERA on the season. He should remain a viable fantasy option as long as he continues to pitch well and the Rockies continue to play well and frequently put themselves in save situations.

Wed May 18 202218:32Daniel Bard Notches Tenth Save
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard has been roughed up lately, but bounced back nicely during Wednesday's contest. The Rockies plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a two-run lead. Bard came into the ninth inning and shut the door against the San Francisco Giants. He only needed 11 pitches to get through the Giants' hitters. Bard had a bit of a rough patch there, but appears to be back to normal again.

Tue May 17 202200:44Daniel Bard's Scuffles Continue, Takes Loss Monday
Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard turned in his third straight sub-par performance in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Giants. Bard entered to pitch the top of the ninth inning with the game tied 6-6. He struck the first two hitters out, but then allowed a solo home run to Mike Yastrzemski before getting the third out on a strikeout. Bard has earned nine saves this season but has now allowed earned runs in each of his last three outings with a blown save and two losses. Hopefully, Bard can get through this rough patch, but fantasy managers who roster him should pay attention to how the Rockies use their bullpen over the next couple of games.

Sun May 15 202219:54Daniel Bard Blows Second Save On Sunday
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard has been surprisingly solid in the closer role this season. However, he was unable to shut the door versus the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Bard allowed two hits, two earned runs, and two walks during Sunday's loss. He was handed his second blown save of the season. Bard isn't an elite fantasy option, but he has pitched well up to this point. Fantasy managers should continue to trust Bard for the moment.

Thu May 5 202200:10Daniel Bard Records Seventh Save
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard has stepped into the closer role nicely this season. On Wednesday, Bard collected his seventh save of the season in the 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals. The veteran reliever struck out both Juan Soto and Yadiel Hernandez on his way to a clean ninth inning save. He is now 7-for-8 in save chances this season with a solid 2.00 ERA over nine innings. Bard has proven himself and is deserving of being rostered in fantasy formats where relievers matter.

Sun Apr 24 202217:00Daniel Bard Dealing With Back Issue
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard (back) has been dealing with a back issue, according to Rockies beat writer Danielle Allentuck. The reliever hasn't pitched since April 19 and the team turned to Alex Colome for the save in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. Allentuck reported that Bard's back issue isn't believed to be anything serious. She also added that he could have been available on Sunday. However, the team deployed Carlos Estevez in the ninth inning to secure a 6-2 victory instead. Bard is currently 5-for-6 in save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP. He should still be considered the team's primary closer for now.

Wed Apr 20 202200:23Daniel Bard Earns Fifth Save Of Season Tuesday
Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard picked up another save in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Phillies. Bard came in to pitch the ninth inning up by a run and shut the door, recording a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The 36-year-old got the night off in Monday's save situation in favor of teammate Alex Colome, but Bard has now amassed five saves already to go with a 3.00 ERA, seven strikeouts, and no walks over six innings pitched. The Rockies have gotten off to a surprisingly strong start and have had plenty of save opportunities, which makes Bard an attractive fantasy option. He is currently rostered in 70 percent of leagues, meaning he is still out there for some fantasy managers to scoop up.

Wed Apr 13 202201:01Daniel Bard Notches Second Save Of Season Tuesday
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard picked up his second save of the season in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rangers. Bard entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He hit Adolis Garcia to start the inning, got Kole Calhoun to fly out, allowed a single, and then got the final two outs on a pop-out and a fly-out. The 36-year-old has seen half of the team's save opportunities so far and has converted two of three with a 3.00 ERA and four strikeouts. Bard had a poor 5.21 ERA in 2021, but he did collect 20 saves and appears to be the front-runner for them at this time. As such, he is worth a roster spot in roto leagues at least.

Sun Apr 10 202200:05Daniel Bard Slams Door For First Save
Colorado Rockies reliever Daniel Bard notched his first save of the 2022 campaign on Saturday as his club defeated the Dodgers 3-2. The right-hander was dominant in his 17-pitch frame as he struck out Justin Turner, Edwin Rios, and Cody Bellinger all swinging as he looked in midseason form with his fastball sitting in the 97-98 MPH range. Bard looks like the favorite for saves this season since both Carlos Estevez and Alex Colome worked in front of him in this game, plus he had success in the role in 2021 by recording 20 saves. Bard should be scooped up off waivers wherever available.

Sun Aug 29 202110:57Daniel Bard Temporarily Out As Rockies Closer
On Saturday, a night after Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard saw teammate Carlos Estevez earn a save against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, Bard was called on to preserve a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning against the Dodgers. Bard promptly allowed all four baserunners he faced to reach without recording an out. Bard yielded two walks, two hits, and three earned runs on Saturday in the Rockies 5-2 loss to the Dodgers. Bard's record fell to 7-7, as his horrible August continued. Over his last seven games, Bard has allowed 11 earned runs over 4 2/3 innings pitched (a 21.21 ERA) and has posted a 3.43 WHIP. In August, Bard has saved four games in six opportunities but has posted an 11.42 ERA, and a 2.19 WHIP over 11 appearances and 8 2/3 IP. He has been removed as closer, at least temporarily, due to his recent struggles. While it has been reported that the Rockies are not giving up on Bard as closer permanently, there are only four weeks left in the season for Bard to right the ship and resume closer duties. Fantasy managers in redraft formats can likely move on from Bard at this point given his struggles and limited upside to accumulate saves through the remainder of the season. Fantasy managers in desperate need of saves for the stretch run could look to Estevez as an option while he temporarily holds down the closer role in Colorado.

Thu Aug 26 202100:14Daniel Bard Blows The Save On Wednesday
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard blew the save on Wednesday when he surrendered three runs on three hits over 1/3 of an inning in a 13-10 extra-innings win over the Chicago Cubs in game two of their doubleheader. Bard entered the game in the seventh inning with the Rockies nursing a three-run lead. He didn't last very long, however, as he allowed two of the first three batters he faced to reach base before Ian Happ tied up the ball game with a three-run homer. The contest went to extra innings where the Rockies would eventually win but this was a bad outing from Bard. He's 20-for-28 on save chances this season and holds an ugly 5.18 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 63:22 K/BB ratio over 50 1/3 innings.

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard took the loss on Monday when he surrendered two runs on two hits with a strikeout over 1/3 of an inning in a 6-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs. The Rockies held a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh inning after Antonio Senzatela did a masterful job to start the game. Jhoulys Chacin and Carlos Estevez combined to blow that lead over the next two innings before Bard entered the contest in the ninth to attempt to preserve a 4-4 tie. He couldn't get the job done as Jason Heyward singled before Rafael Ortega swatted a two-run, walk-off homer to end the game. It was Bard's sixth loss of the season and the poor outing raised his ERA to 4.68 to go along with a 1.56 WHIP.

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard earned his 18th save of the season on Saturday when he allowed one hit with a strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning in a 7-4 win over the Marlins. Bard was tasked with protecting a three-run lead while facing the heart of the Miami order on Saturday. He allowed a single to Brian Anderson but was unscathed otherwise. He's now converted his last three save chances and owns a 4.14 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 58:21 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings this year. Despite the poor rate stats, he's been a fairly reliable fantasy closer this season.

Sun Aug 1 202113:30Daniel Bard Earns His 16th Save Of The Season
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard earned the save on Saturday when he allowed one run on two hits in the ninth inning of a 5-3 win over the Padres. Bard didn't have his best stuff on Saturday as he opened up the ninth inning by allowing a double to Jurickson Profar before letting Austin Nola single him in. He was able to wiggle his way out of the jam when he got Adam Frazier to ground into a game-ending double play that sealed the win for Colorado. He's now converted five of his last save opportunities but owns an underwhelming 4.43 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 55:21 K/BB ratio over 42 2./3 innings.

Fri Jul 30 202102:35Daniel Bard Allows Two Runs In Loss
Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard took the loss on Thursday when he allowed two runs on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts in a 3-0 loss to the Padres. Bard entered the ball game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Rockies trailing 1-0. He was tasked with keeping the game close but couldn't get the job done. He had his work cut out for him as he had to face the heart of the San Diego lineup. He walked Tommy Pham before striking out Fernando Tatis Jr. and getting Manny Machado to pop out. Jake Cronenworth made him pay, though, as he swatted a two-run blast to pad San Diego's lead. Bard took the loss and raised his season ERA to 4.32 to go along with a 1.56 WHIP and 55:21 K/BB ratio over 41 2./3 innings. The Rockies just traded away Mychal Givens so the closer gig should remain his down the stretch.
