Tue Apr 26 202216:19Hunter Greene To Make Next Start Friday Or Saturday
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene will make his next start either Friday or Saturday, according to Reds manager David Bell. Either game would unfortunately have him facing the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Greene had some concerning velocity metrics in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals this past Friday. His velocity dip is what is causing his next start to be pushed back a few days. In his second start of the year, he averaged 100.2 mph on his four-seam fastball, but this past Friday, the pitch averaged just 95.8 mph. The surface numbers haven't looked great for the rookie this year as he is 1-2 with a 5.27 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP, but he's certainly flashed ace potential and fantasy managers should attempt to hold onto him if possible.

Mon Apr 11 202208:54Hunter Greene Earns Win In MLB Debut
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene helped lead the team to a 6-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves in his MLB debut on Sunday. He earned the win as he pitched five innings and allowed four hits, two walks and three earned runs while striking out seven. Known for his fastball, Greene had his heater averaging 99.7 mph in the start. The pitch generated a whiff rate of 32% and it was also victimized for a pair of home runs. This was certainly an encouraging debut outing against a tough Braves lineup. Greene lines up to make his next start on Saturday against another intimidating offense, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wed Mar 30 202214:39Hunter Greene Makes Reds Rotation
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene has made the team's starting rotation to begin the regular season and will start the fourth game of the year on April 10 against the Atlanta Braves. Greene, the former No. 2 overall pick and Cincy's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, has a 100 mph heater and heaps of fantasy upside. However, the 22-year-old could eventually be sent back to the minors when Luis Castillo (shoulder) and Mike Minor (shoulder) are ready to join the Reds rotation, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues should temper expectations in Greene's MLB debut. Despite missing time in 2019 and 2020 due to Tommy John surgery and COVID-19, Greene had a 3.30 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 139 K's to 39 walks in 106 1/3 minor league innings in 2021.

Tue Mar 29 202219:22Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo Could Begin In Rotation
With Cincinnati Reds right-hander Tony Santillan now in the bullpen, there's a much better shot that pitching prospects Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo open the year in the team's starting rotation with Luis Castillo (shoulder) and Mike Minor (shoulder) set to begin the year on the injured list. Greene and Lodolo are the team's top two prospects, respectively. Greene, a 22-year-old righty, is extremely enticing in fantasy due to his power repertoire and improved changeup. If his offspeed proves effective in the majors, Greene's elite fastball could keep him in the rotation all year. Lodolo, a 24-year-old southpaw, can locate all of his pitches for strikes and should combine with Greene to form a dynamic duo at the top of the Reds rotation down the line.

Sun Mar 27 202214:13Hunter Greene To Make Another Start Thursday
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene is starting another Cactus League game on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox. With Mike Minor unlikely to be ready for the start of the season, Greene, the No. 22 overall prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline, has a legitimate shot at starting the season in Cincy's starting rotation. The 22-year-old struck out two of the four hitters he faced in his spring training debut last Monday against the Chicago Cubs, and he hit 100 mph on the radar gun on seven of his 17 pitches. Greene will need to commit to his offspeed pitches at the major league level in order to have consistent success, but his strikeout upside is very real. He may need a bit more minor league seasoning, but by season's end, he could be a regular in the Reds rotation.

Thu Mar 17 202216:55Hunter Greene To Make Spring Debut On Monday
Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Hunter Greene is set to make his Spring Training debut on Monday against the Chicago Cubs in a bullpen role. The 22-year-old is entering his first Spring Training with the big league club. He's regarded as the team's top overall prospect by many sources and in all likelihood he will make his MLB debut this year. Last year, over 21 starts split between Double-A and Triple-A, he went 10-8 with a 3.30 ERA and a 1.176 WHIP while averaging 11.8 K/9. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues shouldn't be particularly interested in him quite yet. However, if he's named one of the team's starters to begin the year, he could be worth taking a shot on in deep leagues.

Fri Nov 19 202115:56Hunter Greene Among Five Added To Reds 40-Man Roster
The Cincinnati Reds have made several roster moves ahead of Friday's deadline to protect players from the Rule 5 draft, adding top prospect Hunter Greene and four others to the 40-man roster. Greene, the top pitching prospect in the Cincinnati system, was originally selected as a two-way player at shortstop and pitcher with the second overall pick in the 2017 draft. He has since undergone Tommy John surgery, but performed well in 2021 with a 3.30 ERA and 31.7 strikeout percentage across two minor league levels. With the Reds entering a rebuild, it's likely Greene will see his first major-league action this year. He should be rostered in all dynasty leagues and is a potential late-round stash in redraft formats.
