Sun May 22 202200:02Brandon Woodruff Improves To 5-2
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff improved his record to 5-2 on the season as his club went on to defeat the Nationals 5-1 on Saturday night. The right-hander gave up one run over six frames of work, striking out six while issuing no free passes in the 100-pitch effort. His only run against him came off a Lane Thomas homer in the third as he's now put together back-to-back one-run games after starting the season off on a rocky note. Woodruff now owns a 4.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 49/12 K/BB through 39 2/3 IP as he looks to keep his momentum going into a road start versus the Cardinals next week.

Fri May 13 202208:37Brandon Woodruff Looking To Turn Things Around On Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff is off to a rough start to the 2022 season. Over six starts, he's gone 3-2 with a 5.97 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. He allowed a total of eight earned runs over his last two starts, which were both against the Cincinnati Reds. We've seen his velocity down a bit so far this year. His four-seamer is averaging 95.8 mph (down from 96.5 mph last year) while his sinker is sitting at an average velocity of 95.3 mph (down from 96.2 mph last year). On the bright side, he has a much prettier xERA of 3.69 and his 29.4% strikeout rate is right around where he was last year (29.8%). He'll be looking to get back on track in his next trip to the mound against the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

Thu May 5 202209:01Brandon Woodruff Sporting A 5.18 ERA Over Five Starts
It's been an up-and-down start to the year for Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff. The 29-year-old was shelled in his season debut, giving up seven earned runs over 3 2/3 innings. He then went on to pitch 11 scoreless innings over his next two starts before running into trouble yet again in his next two outings after that. Overall, through five starts this year, Woodruff is 3-1 with a 5.18 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP and a 29.8% strikeout rate. He hasn't made any notable changes in his pitch mix this year as he's still mixing in all five of his pitches while leading with his four-seamer. We expect to see better numbers on a more consistent basis going forward. He lines up for a pair of favorable starts next week, facing the Cincinnati Reds on Monday and the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

Fri Apr 22 202221:02Brandon Woodruff Back On Track
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff has now put up 11 scoreless innings over two starts since getting shelled for seven runs in his first start of the season against the Chicago Cubs. Over his last two starts, he has gone 11 innings pitched, allowing only four hits and three walks while striking out 11. Woodruff now owns a 4.30 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, with a 13:6 K:BB ratio over 14 2/3 IP on the season. Fantasy managers should keep Woodruff active in all formats as he is one of the primary SPs in MLB. He lines up to face the Pirates on the road on Tuesday, a team he just pitched against on Wednesday where he struck out nine over six IP.

Wed Apr 13 202222:49Brandon Woodruff Will Look To Bounce Back Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff (0-1) will look to bounce back Thursday against Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals after getting shelled for six runs in his previous outing against the Chicago Cubs. He allowed six runs on seven hits, three walks, and two hit batters while striking out two in 3 2/3 innings in last Saturday's 9-0 loss against the Cubs. Despite the rough start, the 29-year-old was impressive in 2021, positing a 2.56 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 211 strikeouts across 179 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers should start Woodruff in all league formats as the star right-hander is expected to rebound Thursday after his disastrous outing against Chicago.

Sun Feb 20 202214:22Brandon Woodruff Has Turned Into An Ace
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff has improved in three straight seasons. Woodruff allowed two runs or fewer in 22 of his 30 starts in 2021 to finish fifth in the National League Cy Young voting. From April 7 to June 11, Woodruff went 5-2 with a remarkable 1.25 ERA, .138 opponent's batting average and 92 strikeouts over 79 innings pitched. The right-hander has plenty of ways to get hitters out, and he pitched into the seventh inning in one-third of his starts. Home runs were somewhat of a problem, but if the Brewers can get him more wins in 2022, he'll definitely be worth his price as a No. 1 fantasy starter. Over his last 374 2/3 innings, Woodruff has a 3.00 ERA and 445 K's.

Sat Sep 11 202118:25Brandon Woodruff Won't Pitch On Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff (illness) has been scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday. Instead, left-hander Eric Lauer will take the mound in his place versus the Cleveland Indians. He could have some streaming value here, but probably just a low-end option. It sounds like Woodruff has a stomach bug and will take the mound on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable using him in a matchup versus the Detroit Tigers shaky lineup.
