Wed Apr 5 202312:11Thairo Estrada Scratched On Wednesday
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (shin) has been scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup after fouling a ball off his left shin on Monday. Estrada's injury isn't considered serious, but the Giants will play it safe and give him another day off. David Villar is now playing second base and batting third against Chicago White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease, while J.D. Davis gets the start at third base and hits sixth in the lineup. The 27-year-old Estrada is off to a strong start for the Gigantes in 2023, going 6-for-16 (.375) with a homer, two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in his first four contests. Villar has become a popular early season pickup in deeper leagues, too, slugging two home runs and driving in five in his first 14 at-bats of the season.

Tue Apr 4 202300:45Thairo Estrada Homers, Leaves Game Early Monday
San Francisco Giants second baseman/shortstop Thairo Estrada (leg) had another solid day at the plate in Monday's 12-3 win over the White Sox. Estrada went 2-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, a walk, a strikeout, and a stolen base. The 27-year-old fouled a pitch off of his left leg in his final at-bat, and while he did finish the at-bat with a walk, he was removed from the game. This may have been a precautionary move with the Giants up big, but fantasy managers should keep an eye on Wednesday's lineup. Estrada has slashed .375/.412/.563 with one HR, two RBI, and two stolen bases to start the season. He may not be the most exciting fantasy option, but he did show the potential for power and speed contributions in 2022.

Wed Mar 15 202318:46Thairo Estrada Having Lackluster Spring
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada isn't enjoying the success this spring he had during the season in 2022. Estrada is hitting .222/.300/.611. The .611 slugging percentage is a nice yet unsustainable number, as all four of his hits this spring have gone for extra bases. He has one home run with three RBI, two doubles and a triple. The utility man has been playing second and short for the Giants this spring, hitting near the top of the lineup. He'll most likely stick to second base unless he's giving shortstop Brandon Crawford a breather, and he could hit second to begin the year. He was surprisingly helpful to fantasy squads last season, hitting 14 home runs, scoring 71 runs and driving in 62 over 140 games. Estrada may be hard-pressed to top those numbers, and his 193.3 ADP reflects that.

Tue Sep 20 202200:43Thairo Estrada Hits Go-Ahead Homer Monday
San Francisco Giants middle infielder Thairo Estrada had a big game at the plate in Monday's 10-7 extra-inning win over the Rockies. Estrada went 3-for-6 with a single, a double, a go-ahead three-run home run in the 10th inning, and a strikeout. The 26-year-old has been a surprise fantasy contributor this season, slashing .266/.326/.416 with 14 HR, 58 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in 495 plate appearances. Estrada looks to be a solid addition to fantasy managers' lineups for the last few weeks of the season, despite hitting in a poor Giants offense.

Wed Sep 14 202214:40Thairo Estrada Isn't Starting Wednesday
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada isn't in the starting lineup on Wednesday for a matchup with the Atlanta Braves and right-handed starter Charlie Morton. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season at the plate for both the Giants and fantasy managers, batting .265 with a .322 on-base percentage, 13 home runs, and 18 stolen bases in 476 plate appearances. Wilmer Flores is starting in his place at second base and batting third against Atlanta. In 529 plate appearances this season, the 30-year-old is batting .233 with a .318 on-base percentage and 18 home runs.

Sun Aug 14 202220:39Thairo Estrada Adds Homer And Steal
San Francisco Giants utility man Thairo Estrada continued his productive season Sunday, going 2-for-5 with a home run, a steal, two RBI, and a run scored in an 8-7 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Estrada now has 11 home runs and 16 steals on the season. Double-digits in both power and speed categories will make any player fantasy-relevant, and Estrada has also provided 51 runs scored and 47 RBI while playing all over the diamond. He has slashed .333/.333/.593 in his last seven games.

Sun Aug 7 202213:48Thairo Estrada Reinstated From Concussion Injured List
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (concussion) has been reinstated from the 7-day concussion injured list. The 26-year-old was hit in the head with a pitch last weekend so Sunday's return to the lineup was expected. He's starting at second base and batting sixth against Oakland starter Adrian Martinez. Estrada is slashing .262/.316/.406 with nine home runs, 41 RBI, and 15 stolen bases over 313 at-bats on the season.

Sun Jul 31 202200:43Thairo Estrada Leaves After Hit-By-Pitch To Head
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada left Saturday's contest early after getting hit in the head with a Drew Smyly pitch in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old laid on the ground for several moments before walking off the field with trainers in a scary scene as Jason Vosler came in to run for him. Hopefully Estrada can come away from this with good news as he'll undoubtedly undergo further testing tonight or tomorrow afternoon. It's unlikely he suits up for Sunday's tilt versus the Cubs, but look for an update from the club within the next 24 hours on his status.

Sun Jul 3 202214:49Thairo Estrada To COVID Injured List, Yermin Mercedes Recalled
The San Francisco Giants placed second baseman Thairo Estrada (illness) on the COVID-19 injured list on Sunday. He is dealing with a sore throat and a headache, but he hasn't tested positive for COVID-19. To fill his roster spot, the team recalled Yermin Mercedes from Triple-A. Estrada has been a mainstay in the Giants' lineup this year. Over 70 games, he's slashed .256/.311/.386 with six home runs, 11 stolen bases, 31 RBI and 40 runs. Mercedes, meanwhile, was claimed off waivers by the Giants about two weeks back. He had a brief stint with the Giants, making two appearances, prior to being sent to Triple-A. This will be his second stint with the team and there's a good chance it's another short one.

Tue Sep 7 202110:01Thairo Estrada Homers Twice Monday
San Francisco Giants middle infielder Thairo Estrada had a huge game in Monday's 10-5 win over the Rockies, going 3-for-5 with a single, a solo home run, and a two-run HR. Estrada took Kyle Freeland deep in both the fourth and fifth innings to help fuel the Giants' win. The 25-year-old has proven to be a contributor so far this season, slashing .273/.328/.464 with six HR and 20 RBI over 119 plate appearances. He may not quite have a roster spot in single-season leagues, but he is worth keeping an eye on in dynasty leagues.

Fri Sep 3 202110:06Thairo Estrada Hits Three-Run Homer Thursday
San Francisco Giants middle infielder Thairo Estrada made his one hit count in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Brewers, going 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. Estrada added some key insurance runs, launching an eighth-inning, two-out Devin Williams changeup into the left-field seats to extend the Giants' lead to four. He also made a diving play at second to end the game. The 25-year-old has done a nice job at the plate for the Giants this season, slashing .277/.340/.426 with four HR and 17 RBI in 103 plate appearances. While he has helped out his team, his limited power and speed limit his fantasy value.

Wed Aug 11 202121:26Thairo Estrada Called Up From Sacramento
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. Estrada has appeared in 31 games for the big club this season, batting an acceptable .303, with 23 hits, 13 RBI, and 12 runs. With Evan Longoria (shoulder) nearing activation, his most recent tenure may be short-lived. However, he is worth a look as a temporary streaming option in deeper formats if he can crack the starting lineup at some point.

ATLANTA (AP) — Freddie Freeman homered off Yu Darvish in the sixth inning, Touki Toussaint allowed one run and three hits in his season debut, and the Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 on Tuesday night. Toussaint, who missed the first 3½ months rehabbing a right shoulder strain, retired the first seven batters he faced before walking Victor Caratini in the third. He didn’t allow a hit until Manny Machado doubled with one out in the fourth. The Padres tied it 1-all in the fourth when Jake Cronenworth was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on Machado’s double and scored on Tommy Pham’s sacrifice fly. Freeman made it 2-1 by taking Darvish deep over the wall in left field with an opposite-field shot, his 22nd homer. Toussaint (1-0) walked two and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings. Darvish (7-4) was making his first start since July 8 after a stint on the injured list due to left hip inflammation. He allowed four hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.... [More]
