Sun Sep 12 202100:08Josiah Gray Roughed Up Saturday
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray did not have his best stuff Saturday, allowing five runs on three hits and a whopping six walks in five innings. He struck out four batters. His ERA now sits at an unsightly 6.00, and he remains in search of his first win. Gray has now given up at least six runs in three consecutive starts, with 10 walks over 12 innings in that span. He should not be active for any team during the fantasy playoffs.

Mon Aug 30 202123:05Josiah Gray Still Seeking First Win
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray was handed his second loss of the season Monday, as he gave up six runs on seven hits and three walks to the Philadelphia Phillies in four innings. He struck out four batters and gave up one home run, the first one he's allowed that wasn't a solo shot. Gray has shown plenty of promise, but he's more of a long-term investment. With a 4.73 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts in 40 innings, he's a streamer in redraft formats and a strong hold in dynasty and keeper leagues.

Thu Aug 26 202113:34Josiah Gray Puts Up Third Straight Quality Start
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray has looked awfully good through five starts with the club, and he continued that stretch Wednesday with six innings of two-run ball on five hits and three walks. He struck out seven batters in his third consecutive quality start. The only concerning statistic is the eight home runs Gray has yielded in his first 28 innings as a National. He's been quite fortunate that those have all been of the solo variety. Still, he's an excellent add for dynasty and keeper leagues, even if some regression is due this year.

Thu Aug 19 202110:44Josiah Gray With Another Quality Start
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray delivered another quality start Wednesday night, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk in six innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. He struck out four batters in a no-decision. Once again, both runs Gray allowed were via the home run, meaning that all seven runs Gray has allowed as a National have come via the solo shot. He's been fortunate in this area, but those homers could come back to bite him going forward. Still, he's a high upside fantasy option for the rest of the way, and a must in keeper and dynasty formats.

Sat Aug 14 202111:29Josiah Gray Suffers Loss In Quality Start Friday
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray allowed three earned runs while striking out six across six innings pitched in a 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday night. The 23-year-old was plagued by the long ball as he allowed three solo homers during the quality start. On the surface, Gray has been solid in his first three starts with the Nationals, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 18 K in 16 innings pitched. However, the right-hander is sporting a 5.74 FIP and could be looking at some negative regression soon. Gray's next start will be Wednesday in a difficult matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sun Aug 8 202100:59Josiah Gray Strikes Out Ten Braves Saturday
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray continues to impress in each successive outing, and it was his strikeout ability on display Saturday against the Atlanta Braves. In five innings, Gray whiffed 10 men on the way to giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks. 10 strikeouts is a career high for the rookie right-hander, who now has 25 in his first 18 major league innings. Gray will be given every opportunity to succeed for the rest of this year, and he figures to be a high-end keeper heading into 2022.

Mon Aug 2 202123:50Josiah Gray Goes Five Strong In Nationals Debut
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray gave up one earned run over five innings and took a no-decision in Washington's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. The 23-year-old gave up four hits and walked two while striking out two over 71 pitches in his debut start for the Nationals. The newly acquired National was in line for the loss after surrendering a solo homer to Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera in the fifth inning but was taken off the hook after the Nationals tied the game in the sixth. Gray will look to build off of the promising start at home on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves.

Mon Aug 2 202123:39Josiah Gray Shines In Nationals Debut
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray shone in his team debut Monday, lasting five innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters. The only blemish was an Odubel Herrera solo home run in the top of the fifth inning. Gray has now appeared in three games this season including two starts, posting a 4.85 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 13 innings. He has plenty of potential and should be on rosters for that upside alone.

Sun Aug 1 202113:13Josiah Gray To Start For Nationals Monday
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josiah Gray has been added to the active roster in anticipation of making his team debut Monday in a start against the Philadelphia Phillies. Relief pitcher Tanner Rainey was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to make room. Gray, who was acquired in the Max Scherzer-Trea Turner deal with the Dodgers, gets a boost in his fantasy value as he is now expected to be in the rotation for the remainder of the season. Gray has allowed six runs in eight innings this season with 13 strikeouts. He should be on fantasy rosters in most formats, as he has plenty of upside in all categories.
