Sun Jul 30 202314:38Nolan Gorman Dealing With Back Tightness
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman (back), who was scratched late from Sunday's lineup card versus the Chicago Cubs, continues to nurse lower-back tightness. The 23-year-old also experienced the discomfort at times earlier in July, so this seems to be something of a lingering issue. In any event, Gorman should be deemed day-to-day for now with the hope that he re-enters the fray in time for a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins commencing on Tuesday. The former first-rounder was slashing .341/.420/.773 with five home runs and 13 RBI across his most recent 44 at-bats. Taylor Motter took over to start at the keystone on Sunday and hit seventh.

Tue Jul 25 202318:50Nolan Gorman Back In The Lineup
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman (back) is returning to the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has missed each of the last two games due to back tightness. Luckily, it appears to be a minor issue and Gorman will return to the lineup now. He'll play second base and bat sixth versus right-hander Merrill Kelly on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should double check their lineups and get Gorman back in there.

Sun Jul 23 202313:26Nolan Gorman Dealing With Back Pain
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman (back) is out of the lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs due to back tightness. Cardinals manager Oli Marmol told reporters that Gorman's back pain could keep him out of the lineup for a few days but that he has "zero concern" that it's a long-term issue. St. Louis will be cautious with the 23-year-old slugger who has 20 home runs and a .814 OPS over 305 at-bats this season. Taylor Motter is starting at the keystone and batting eighth in his place on Sunday.

Fri Jul 21 202312:02Nolan Gorman, Lars Nootbaar Out Against Lefty
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman and outfielder Lars Nootbaar are both out of Friday's lineup against left-hander Justin Steele and the division-rival Chicago Cubs. Jose Fermin will get the start at second base and bat in the nine-hole, while Andrew Knizner gets the start behind the plate and bats eighth. Willson Contreras will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup. Dylan Carlson is starting in center field and batting leadoff. Gorman is hitting a decent .257 (9-for-35) against lefties in 2023, but he has only two of his 19 homers against them. Meanwhile, Nootbaar is hitting only .214 (12-for-56) against southpaws with no home runs and six RBI. Carlson will be a sneaky DFS play on Friday out of the leadoff spot. He's gone 17-for-58 (.293) against lefties this year.

Sun Jun 25 202309:15Nolan Gorman Returns To Lineup On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman/third baseman Nolan Gorman (illness) is back in Sunday's lineup against the Chicago Cubs. The 23-year-old got Saturday off with an illness. Gorman is manning the keystone and batting sixth versus the red-hot Marcus Stroman in this one. The lefty-hitting Gorman is mired in a terrible 8-for-78 dry spell with just two homers and six RBI since May 26 after a great start to the year. Fantasy managers hope he can get right soon.

Sat Jun 10 202312:02Nolan Gorman Not Starting Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds. Gorman will take a seat after going 1-for-4 with his 15th homer of the year and three strikeouts in Friday's 7-4 victory over Cincinnati. The 23-year-old strikes out at a high rate, although he's lowered it from last season while also displaying impressive power from the left side of the plate. He should remain a regular contributor for St. Louis' lineup. Gorman is currently hitting .264 (52-for-197) with 10 doubles, 15 homers, 46 RBI, four stolen bases and 26 runs scored in 58 games. Brendan Donovan is at second base and batting eighth, while Luken Baker is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup on Saturday against Reds rookie left-hander Andrew Abbott.

Wed May 31 202315:57Nolan Gorman Goes Hitless Again As Cardinals Avoid Series Loss
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman went hitless again on Tuesday as his team avoided a series sweep against the Kansas City Royals. Gorman went 0-for-6 in the two-game series against the Royals and has hit .120 over his last seven games. The 23-year-old infielder has made immense strides this season and will hope to get back in form soon. Gorman, who has recorded 47 hits, 13 home runs, and 41 RBI, is batting .272 for the season with a .360 on-base percentage. He's gone hitless in four of his last five games, but before that short stretch he was riding a 15-game hitting streak in which he went 20-for-53 (.377) with five doubles, six home runs and 17 RBI. Stick with Gorman in fantasy this weekend.

Fri May 19 202301:27Nolan Gorman Continues Mashing
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman knocked two homers on Thursday, helping the 16-8 thumping of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gorman went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Notably, the lefty was in the starting lineup tonight against lefty Julio Urias, something the Cardinals haven't done much over Gorman's career. With one of his homers coming off Urias, Gorman may have earned himself more starts against lefties. His 12 homers and 1.015 OPS probably won't hurt either. He was also at third base in this one with Nolan Arenado in the DH spot. It was his fourth start of the season at third, and he could earn eligibility at the position soon on some platforms. He is a must-roster player at this point.

Tue May 16 202312:27Nolan Gorman Seeing Time In The Three-Hole
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman/designated hitter Nolan Gorman is having a sensational campaign through 37 games, slashing .283/.379/.600 with 10 bombs, 16 runs, 33 RBI, and three steals. His fantastic play has prompted manager Oliver Marmol to start batting him third in the lineup, which he's done in 14 of the club's last 21 games. Gorman will likely cool off a bit, but his breakout looks real, as he's sporting a 23.6% strikeout rate and 12.9% walk rate after posting 32.9% and 8.9% marks in 2022, respectively, and is hitting the ball extremely hard. The 23-year-old should be rostered everywhere, especially with his new place in the batting order.

Sat May 6 202313:24Nolan Gorman Not In The Lineup On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman (back) is not in the lineup on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. The 22-year-old missed Friday's contest as well with lower back tightness but he was able to appear as a pinch-hitter in that one. The Cards are just playing it safe with him for now. There's a good chance he's back in the starting lineup on Sunday for the series finale. Gorman has a .879 OPS with seven home runs across 98 at-bats so far this year.

Thu May 4 202316:42Nolan Gorman Dealing With Lower-Back Tightness
St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that infielder Nolan Gorman (back) was removed from Thursday's game early against the Los Angeles Angels because of lower-back tightness. Taylor Motter entered the game in the sixth inning to pinch hit for Gorman. The 22-year-old infielder went 0-for-3 with a run scored in the contest before departing, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day going into the weekend until we know more. In just his second MLB season, Gorman entered Thursday's game hitting a respectable .277 (26-for-94) with five doubles, seven home runs, 23 RBI, two stolen bases and eight runs scored in 108 plate appearances and 27 games played.

Wed Apr 19 202321:28Nolan Gorman Hits Grand Slam Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in a 14-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Gorman was not initially in the starting lineup but he pinch-hit for Taylor Motter in the fifth inning. The 22-year-old's first career grand slam came in the sixth inning and gave the Cardinals a nine-run lead. Gorman is off to a fast start in 2023, hitting .316 with five homers, six runs, 18 RBI, and a steal across 57 at-bats.

Sat Apr 8 202316:40Nolan Gorman To Sit On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The left-handed slugger will take a seat here against lefty starter Eric Lauer. He'll be joined by fellow left-handers Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson on the Cards bench. Juan Yepez will serve as the designated hitter and bat ninth for the Cardinals on Saturday.

Mon Apr 3 202318:39Nolan Gorman Starting Again Monday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman is starting for the fourth consecutive game Monday to take on the Atlanta Braves, batting sixth in the designated hitter spot. Playing time wasn't a guarantee for the former top prospect, but so far, he's earned it, slashing .444/.615/.1.111 with a pair of homers and a 30.8% walk rate. Gorman's also driven in six runs, tied for fifth in all of baseball. The Cardinals haven't faced a left-hander yet, so it's unclear what manager Oliver Marmol's plans are for the 22-year-old against southpaws. Although, Gorman's likely cemented himself as a starter anytime they face a righty and will look to improve on his .226 average, 14 homers, 44 runs, 35 RBI, and one stolen base across 89 games from 2022.

Thu Oct 6 202218:12Nolan Gorman Expected To Be On Wild-Card Roster
The St. Louis Cardinals have yet to finalize their roster for the Wild-Card Series against the Philadelphia Phillies for this weekend, but it's expected that when they do, rookie outfielder Nolan Gorman will be on it after Tyler O'Neill (hamstring) was not included. Gorman struggled late in the season for the Cardinals and was sent back down to the minors, and he finished his first big-league season with a .226/.300/.420 slash line, 14 home runs, 35 RBI, 44 runs scored and one stolen base in 313 plate appearances over 89 games. The 22-year-old probably won't start for the Red Birds this weekend if he makes the roster for the first round of the postseason, but he'll be a nice left-handed power bat off the bench.

Wed Jul 13 202200:03Nolan Gorman Homers In Win
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman hit his eighth home run of the season Tuesday, contributing to a 7-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gorman went 1-for-4 with the solo shot. He's enjoyed a solid rookie campaign thus far, but his strongest production came in the month of May. This breaks a three-game hitless streak for the lefty swinger, who carries a .242/.322/.438 slash line with 24 runs scored and 21 RBI in 169 plate appearances as the All-Star break approaches.

Wed Jul 6 202216:12Nolan Gorman Sitting Vs. Lefty On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against left-hander Max Fried and the Atlanta Braves. Tommy Edman will be manning the keystone for the contest. The left-handed Gorman has been mostly held out of action against southpaws this year. He's gone 2-for-9 in same-handed matchups while walking twice and striking out four times. The 22-year-old rookie owns a .254/.331/.454 slash line on the year to go along with seven homers, 19 RBI and 22 runs. Expect to see him back out there against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider on Thursday.

Fri Jul 1 202216:08Nolan Gorman Doesn't Have Limitations
St. Louis Cardinals rookie infielder Nolan Gorman (hand) said that his bruised hand is fine and that he doesn't have any limitations in terms of hitting or fielding. However, he remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies for the third straight game. Fantasy managers should expect the 22-year-old to return at some point over the weekend, and he could even come off the bench against Philly on Friday. In his first 35 major league games in 2022, Gorman has gone 30-for-118 (.254) with six home runs, 17 RBI and 20 runs scored. There's plenty of upside here, but he's walked only eight times while striking out 40 times in 128 plate appearances. Tommy Edman will play second and hit leadoff, while Edmundo Sosa is at the 6 and is batting eighth against Phillies left-hander Bailey Falter on Friday.

Wed Jun 29 202216:42Nolan Gorman To Miss His Second Straight Game Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman (hand) is being held out for the second consecutive game on Wednesday as the team takes on the Miami Marlins. Brendan Donovan will be manning the keystone for the team. Gorman fouled a ball off the bottom of his left hand during Monday's game and his hand remains sore. Cardinals beat writer Jeff Jones reports that Gorman's hand is currently wrapped up and padded. Despite that, he was able to take grounders and swing the bat on Wednesday and Jones reports that he's getting better. The Cardinals are off on Thursday, so Gorman's next chance to play will be on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Wed Jun 22 202212:53Nolan Gorman Mashes Two Homers Tuesday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman mashed two homers against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, part of a 4-for-4 day at the plate in which he drove in four runs. Gorman has played in 29 games since being called up, and his bat has been just as prodigious as promised. He's carrying a .280/.350/.516 slash line with six homers, 17 runs scored, and 17 RBI through 101 plate appearances. Fantasy managers who scooped him up off the wire have to be very pleased as he further entrenches himself in the middle of the Cardinals lineup.
