Tue Feb 21 202300:56LaMonte Wade Jr. Ready To Claim First Base Role With Giants
San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Monday that first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. has had a "very focused offseason." The 29-year-old had a breakout 2021 season but had a disappointing 2022 season, slashing just .207/.305/.359 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 251 plate appearances while dealing with left knee inflammation. Now that both of his legs are healthy, Wade said he is ready to regain the balance and base that helped him hit 18 home runs with a .482 slugging percentage in 2021. With long-time first baseman Brandon Belt now with the Blue Jays, Wade could earn the everyday role if he has a nice spring. While first base is a deep position for fantasy, Wade is worth keeping an eye on this spring.

Thu Sep 22 202214:44LaMonte Wade Jr. Back In The Lineup
San Francisco Giants outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) is back in left field and is hitting leadoff on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies and right-hander Jose Urena. Wade will be right back in the lineup after leaving early on Wednesday with hamstring tightness. It obviously wasn't a very serious injury for the 28-year-old left-handed hitter. Wade only has 189 at-bats on the season with the Giants, but he's hitting .286 (12-for-42) with an RBI and 10 runs scored in 14 games in September. He'll make for an interesting DFS sleeper play out of the leadoff spot for the Gigantes. In 68 games overall in his second year in the Bay Area, Wade has hit .201 (38-for-189) with eight home runs and 24 RBI.

San Francisco Giants outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring, knee) felt tightness in his left hamstring while doing baserunning drills, prompting the Giants to back off on his possible return. The team's medical staff prefers to consider Wade's injury "separate" from his knee. Wade was one of the Giants leading hitters last year with 18 home runs, but he's played in only 10 of 57 games this year due to injuries. The 28-year-old will be re-evaluated early next week, but his return from the injured list will be delayed.
