Thu Apr 28 202222:15Taylor Rogers Secures Seventh Save On Thursday
San Diego Padres pitcher Taylor Rogers allowed one hit and no walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save during Thursday's 7-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds. He entered the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead and tossed a scoreless inning to notch his seventh save of the year. The 31-year-old has been one of the best closers in baseball, converting 7-of-8 opportunities while sporting a 0.00 ERA and 0.63 WHIP over eight innings in 2022. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Rogers as he continues to rack up the saves for the Padres this season.

Mon Apr 18 202206:03Taylor Rogers Notches Fourth Save
San Diego Padres pitcher Taylor Rogers struck out two over a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. He entered the game in the ninth inning and made quick work of the Braves to secure his fourth save of the season. The 31-year-old has been terrific since being acquired by the Padres on Opening Day, converting all four save chances while striking out five over four innings. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Rogers as he's become one of the most reliable relievers to start the year.

Thu Apr 7 202221:38Taylor Rogers Will Serve As Padres Closer
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Taylor Rogers will be the team's closer, according to manager Bob Melvin. The Padres acquired Rogers and outfielder Brent Rooker from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday morning in exchange for starting pitcher Chris Paddack and relief pitcher Emilio Pagan. It was assumed that Rogers would be the Padres ninth-inning man after they traded for him, but it's now official. Relievers Robert Suarez and Dinelson Lamet will serve as late-inning setup men for Rogers, who has 48 saves in the last three seasons with the Twins. The left-hander isn't exactly known as an overpowering closer, but he does have an average K/9 of 12.0 in the last three seasons, and he should see plenty of save chances in San Diego.

Thu Apr 7 202211:06Padres Acquire Taylor Rogers, Brent Rooker
The San Diego Padres acquired relief pitcher Taylor Rogers and outfielder Brent Rooker from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday in exchange for starting pitcher Chris Paddack and relief pitcher Emilio Pagan. Rogers, a 31-year-old left-hander, will likely become the new closer in San Diego, which is bad news for anyone that already drafted Robert Suarez. Rogers was a first-time All-Star in 2021, saving nine games while posting a 3.35 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 59 strikeouts in 40 1/3 relief innings. Back in Minnesota, fantasy managers should now expect some sort of closer committee, consisting of Tyler Duffey, Jorge Alcala, Caleb Thielbar and Pagan. Rooker could begin the year at Triple-A El Paso as outfield depth for the Friars.

Wed Apr 6 202221:16Taylor Rogers Drawing Padres' Interest
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers has generated interest from the San Diego Padres as trade talks between the two teams continue, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. He would be part of the return heading back to San Diego in exchange for Chris Paddack, though as Rosenthal notes, talks are "fluid" and there are "lots of moving parts." A six-year veteran, Rogers made his first All-Star team in 2021 and finished the year with a 2.51 xERA, 1.14 WHIP, 35.5 percent strikeout rate, and 4.8 percent walk rate. The southpaw's two-pitch mix features a slider that he employs the most, as well as an upper-90s fastball. Rogers is a key name in the fantasy baseball world, appearing 16th among relievers in the latest RotoBaller draft rankings.

Wed Mar 23 202213:47Taylor Rogers Settles With Twins
Minnesota Twins closer Taylor Rogers avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $7.3 million deal. Rogers was a first-time All-Star in 2021 and had nine saves, a 3.35 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, a career-high 35.5% strikeout rate and a 4.8% walk rate in 40 1/3 relief innings over 40 appearances. The 31-year-old left-hander enters the 2022 season as the favorite for ninth-inning work, giving him plenty of fantasy appeal on an improved Twins team. However, Rogers will need to produce if he wants to stay in the ninth-inning role, as manager Rocco Baldelli has been quick to move to a committee approach in the past. RotoBaller has Rogers ranked as the No. 14 closer for fantasy.

Mon Nov 22 202121:20Taylor Rogers Of Interest To The Mets
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers could be of interest to the New York Mets, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Rogers is eligible for arbitration, but given that he is due a raise from his 2021 salary of $6 million dollars, the Twins could choose not to tender the left-hander a contract. With the loss of Aaron Loup to the Angels today, the Mets would then be positioned to make Rogers their primary lefty out of the bullpen. Rogers was an All-Star in 2021, recording a 3.35 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with nine saves and 59 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings. He is a perennial value in fantasy leagues that reward holds.

Sat Aug 7 202117:50Taylor Rogers To Opt For Rehab On Finger Injury
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers (finger) has opted to forego surgery and will instead go with rest and recovery for his strained middle finger, according to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com. Manager Rocco Baldelli said that the team expects to learn more about the timeline for his potential return to action in the next few days. It had previously been reported that Rogers would likely not return to the mound this season, but it now looks like there is a possibility that he could come off the injured list late in the year. Managers should keep him stashed on the injured list for now, as he should move back into the closer's role when healthy.

Sat Jul 31 202117:57Taylor Rogers Could Miss Rest Of Season
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Taylor Rogers (finger) could miss the rest of the season, per MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park. Rogers was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left middle finger strain but is still in the process of seeking out opinions on the injury, per manager Rocco Baldelli. Baldelli noted that the southpaw was leaning towards not having surgery to repair the finger, but at any rate, the team isn't expecting him back this year. Rogers has been excellent in 2021, pitching to a 3.35 ERA with a career-best 35.5 percent strikeout rate in 40 1/3 innings. Alex Colome and Tyler Duffey should be expected to handle the ninth inning if Rogers is indeed sidelined for the year, but neither would have much upside on a last-place Twins team.
