Vizcaino retired the side in order in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Nationals en route to his ninth save of the season.

All Vizcaino needed was 12 pitches to nail down the win for starter Williams Perez. The 24-year-old Vizcaino has now turned in eight straight scoreless appearances, with 11 strikeouts against just one walk over that span, and is 9-for-10 in save opportunities this season. He's making a strong case to keep the role to begin 2016.

Vizcaino recorded his eighth save in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Nationals, pitching a scoreless ninth while surrendering two hits and striking out a batter.

Vizcaino made things interesting in the ninth by surrendering consecutive singles to Jayson Werth and Clint Robinson to open the inning, but ultimately was able to strike out the red-hot Matt den Dekker to secure the victory. The Braves appear to have made a prudent move in allowing Vizcaino to garner valuable experience in late-inning pressure situations in the closing weeks of a forgettable 2015 campaign, as he appears to slowing be developing into their closer of the future.

Vizcaino took a blown save after allowing a run on three hits, walking one and striking out two over 1.2 innings against the Nationals on Friday night.

He entered the game to begin the eighth inning with the Braves clinging to a 2-1 lead. He pitched a scoreless inning, but then allowed a run to tie the game in the ninth. It was his first blown save (he is 4-for-5 in save chances), and he has done a solid job with a 0.81 ERA since stepping in as the team's closer. The Braves simply haven't provided him with many chances.

Vizcaino picked up his fourth save Monday against the Rockies with a clean inning. He struck out one and didn't walk a batter.

Vizcaino threw nine strikes in 12 pitches to make quick work of Colorado in the ninth. He now has a 0.48 ERA to go with 19 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. He has thrived in the closer's role thus far, and with Atlanta deep under .500, the Braves have no reason not to let the 24-year-old flourish in the closer's role down the stretch.

He returned after serving an 80-game suspension, and when Jim Johnson was dealt at the trade deadline, he stepped in as the Braves' new closer. He's now 3-for-3 in save opportunities, and has a shiny 0.57 ERA to go with a 0.96 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. His control can be a bit erratic at times, but he has excellent stuff and will be given every opportunity to nail the closer's gig down for this and future seasons.

Veteran David Aardsma could also see save chances, as could Ross Detwiler and/or Andrew McKirahan if manager Fredi Gonzalez decides to play the matchups.

Look for the electric righty to be back up pitching out of the Braves' bullpen at some point this season. He has a big fastball and a plus curveball and if he can figure out his command, he could be used in high-leverage situations.

Vizcaino gave up two runs in an inning against Toronto on Wednesday.

Vizcaino has given up four hits and three runs in his first two appearances with the Cubs this season. He could compete for a shot at closing for the Cubs next spring, but he'll have to show he can get big-league hitters out first.
