Vizcaino retired the side in order in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Nationals en route to his ninth save of the season.
All Vizcaino needed was 12 pitches to nail down the win for starter Williams Perez. The 24-year-old Vizcaino has now turned in eight straight scoreless appearances, with 11 strikeouts against just one walk over that span, and is 9-for-10 in save opportunities this season. He's making a strong case to keep the role to begin 2016.

Vizcaino recorded his eighth save in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Nationals, pitching a scoreless ninth while surrendering two hits and striking out a batter.
Vizcaino made things interesting in the ninth by surrendering consecutive singles to Jayson Werth and Clint Robinson to open the inning, but ultimately was able to strike out the red-hot Matt den Dekker to secure the victory. It was the fourth consecutive successful save opportunity for Vizcaino, and his seventh straight scoreless outing.

Vizcaino earned his sixth save in a 2-1 victory Saturday over the Phillies, working a scoreless ninth inning in which he surrendered one hit and struck out two.
Vizcaino is 6-for-7 in save opportunities for the Braves since being announced as the team's closer on July 31, and he now has five whiffs over the last two innings. Saturday's outing was also the third consecutive scoreless effort for the 24-year-old righty after having given up five runs (four earned) in just 0.2 innings in the two appearances prior. The Braves appear to have made a prudent move in allowing Vizcaino to garner valuable experience in late-inning pressure situations in the closing weeks of a forgettable 2015 campaign, as he appears to slowing be developing into their closer of the future.

Vizcaino took a blown save after allowing a run on three hits, walking one and striking out two over 1.2 innings against the Nationals on Friday night.
He entered the game to begin the eighth inning with the Braves clinging to a 2-1 lead. He pitched a scoreless inning, but then allowed a run to tie the game in the ninth. It was his first blown save (he is 4-for-5 in save chances), and he has done a solid job with a 0.81 ERA since stepping in as the team's closer. The Braves simply haven't provided him with many chances.

Vizcaino picked up his fourth save Monday against the Rockies with a clean inning. He struck out one and didn't walk a batter.
Vizcaino threw nine strikes in 12 pitches to make quick work of Colorado in the ninth. He now has a 0.48 ERA to go with 19 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. He has thrived in the closer's role thus far, and with Atlanta deep under .500, the Braves have no reason not to let the 24-year-old flourish in the closer's role down the stretch.

Vizcaino logged his third save with a clean inning against the Diamondbacks on Friday night. He struck out one.
He returned after serving an 80-game suspension, and when Jim Johnson was dealt at the trade deadline, he stepped in as the Braves' new closer. He's now 3-for-3 in save opportunities, and has a shiny 0.57 ERA to go with a 0.96 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. His control can be a bit erratic at times, but he has excellent stuff and will be given every opportunity to nail the closer's gig down for this and future seasons.

Vizcaino picked up his first career save, giving up only one hit in a scoreless ninth Thursday against the Marlins.
Vizcaino, who returned from an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, stepped into the closer's role last week after the Braves traded Jim Johnson and converted his first save of his career.
Fri Jul 31 201509:58Arodys Vizcaino: Will Close For Braves
Vizcaino will replace Jim Johnson as the Braves' closer, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
The Braves traded away Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan and Cody Martin this month, leaving the bullpen without a proven late-inning arm. Vizcaino hasn't really proven that he's ready for the closer's role, but the Braves don't have a better option, and the 24-year-old may be the team's closer of the future. If Vizcaino struggles, the Braves may hand the job to David Aardsma and/or Andrew McKirahan.

Atlanta Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino was named the team's closer Friday following the trade of pitcher Jim Johnson, according to MLB.com. Vizcaino has allowed just one run in nine innings this season but could face competition from David Aardsma or Andrew McKirahan if he falters in his new role.

Vizcaino is a candidate to close for Atlanta with Jim Johnson traded to the Dodgers.
The Braves have not yet named Johnson's replacement in the ninth inning, but Vizcaino is a logical fit given his premium velocity and ability to miss bats. He's made 10 appearances since being called up in early July, allowing one run on six hits with an 8:4 K:BB over nine innings. Veteran David Aardsma could also see save chances, as could Ross Detwiler and/or Andrew McKirahan if manager Fredi Gonzalez decides to play the matchups.
Sun Jul 5 201517:34Vizcaino recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday
Vizcaino was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
The hard-throwing right-hander has been idle for most of the season after serving an 80-game suspension for a positive PED test, but after making seven appearances with three different affiliates, it appears the Braves are ready to see what he can do with the big club. The 24-year-old could emerge as one of the top setup men for closer Jason Grilli if he irons out his control issues and is able to stay healthy for an extended period of time.

Vizcaino has been activated from the minor league DL and he's eligible to be called up by the Braves on Saturday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Given the issues the Braves have had in relief, Vizcaino should have an opportunity to contribute in Atlanta in the not-so-distant future. He's eligible for promotion Saturday as Friday marks the final game in his 80-game suspension for a positive PED test.

Vizcaino (suspension) was placed on the restricted list by the Braves on Sunday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Vizcaino was recently dealt an 80-game suspension for PED use, so the right-handed reliever won't be making an impact at any level until later in the summer.
Thu Apr 2 201517:09Vizcaino
Vizcaino, who was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, will serve an 80-game suspension for PEDs, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.
According to Passan, Vizcaino has thrown significantly harder this spring than he did in recent seasons. It still wasn't enough to make the Opening Day roster, so the right-hander will serve his suspension in the minors. Vizcaino won't be eligible to play until July, but it's possible injuries will free up a spot on the big-league squad by that point.

Vizcaino was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
Look for the electric righty to be back up pitching out of the Braves' bullpen at some point this season. He has a big fastball and a plus curveball and if he can figure out his command, he could be used in high-leverage situations.
Sun Nov 16 201417:06Vizcaino traded to Braves on Sunday
Vizcaino was traded to the Braves on Sunday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Vizcaino was shipped along with the Cubs' second, third, and fourth international signing slots for Tommy La Stella and the Braves' fourth international slot. The 24-year-old posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over five innings with the Cubs last season.

Vizcaino gave up two runs in an inning against Toronto on Wednesday.
Vizcaino has given up four hits and three runs in his first two appearances with the Cubs this season. He could compete for a shot at closing for the Cubs next spring, but he'll have to show he can get big-league hitters out first.
