Wed Mar 25 201515:53Brantly optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday
Brantly was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Brantly was claimed off waivers by the White Sox in December and entered spring training with the opportunity to serve as the backup to Tyler Flowers behind the plate. Instead, the 25-year-old will head back to Triple-A where he spent all of the 2014 season, slashing .255/.291/.341 in 101 games. With a strong showing in the minors, Brantly should get the opportunity to earn a call up to the big league roster at some point this season.
Mon Dec 8 201415:06Rob Brantly: Claimed By White Sox
Brantly was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Monday, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
The 25-year-old backstop has a .235 averaged with four home runs in 356 career plate appearances, and does not have much fantasy upside. Fortunately for him, the White Sox have a shoddy collection of catchers on the roster, so he may provide a real life upgrade in 2015.

Wed Mar 12 201416:04Rob Brantly homers against Braves
Rob Brantly homered in his lone at-bat Wednesday and is 7-for-14 this spring.
Brantly was handed a starting job last spring and disappointed, hitting .211/.263/.265 in 223 at-bats. As a result, the Marlins went and signed Jarrod Saltalamacchia and essentially punched Brantly's ticket back to Triple-A this year. It would taken an injury to Salty or backup Jeff Mathis for Brantly to make the club.

Marlins recalled C Rob Brantly from Triple-A New Orleans.
Brantly was demoted in early August after batting .225/.275/.284 over 204 at-bats. He should return to a part-time role with Jeff Mathis down the stretch. The Marlins still view Brantly as their long-term catcher.

Fri Aug 9 201315:12Rob Brantly optioned to Triple-A
Marlins optioned C Rob Brantly to Triple-A New Orleans.
Brantly was the team's Opening Day catcher, but he's sporting an ugly .225/.275/.284 batting line with one homer this season and had been losing playing time to Jeff Mathis. The Marlins still view the 24-year-old as their long-term catcher, but he clearly needs more seasoning.

Fri May 17 201321:56Rob Brantly plates run in loss to D'Backs
Rob Brantly drove home his 11th run of the season in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Brantly's RBI single in the seventh inning was his only hit in four at-bats on the night. He's been a bit of a disappointment offensively thus far, hitting .247/.321/.323 with no homers, 11 RBI and only four runs scored on the season. Fantasy owners in two-catcher formats who counted on more production from the Marlins backstop have likely had to search for other options.

Wed Apr 24 201300:27Brantly gets 3 hits, 4 RBI in Marlins' win
Rob Brantly went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in the Marlins' win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Brantly and Miguel Olivo have been sharing time at catcher for the Marlins this year, but Brantly made a strong case for more playing time on Tuesday. Brantly doubled twice off Twins starter Mike Pelfrey and now has six doubles on the season. The 23-year-old is the closest thing the Marlins have to a "catcher of the future" at this point.

Sun Mar 17 201316:37Rob Brantly knocks in three runs for Marlins
Rob Brantly went 3-for-4 with three RBI against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Brantly, a product of the Anibal Sanchez trade with the Tigers last summer, will be the Marlins' starting catcher this year. He impressed offensively in his audition last season, hitting .290/.372/.460 in 100 at-bats, but we're not expecting him to have much fantasy value. Even if he hits for average, the power numbers won't be very good.

Mon Oct 1 201222:40Brantly has go-ahead double in win
Rob Brantly had a go-ahead RBI double in a 3-2 win over the Mets on Monday.
Brantly punched one just inside the left field line in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Marlins ahead. It was his only hit of the night. The 23-year-old backstop is hitting .295/.380/.442 with two homers, eight doubles, seven RBI and an .822 OPS through his first 30 games in the big leagues. He also has an impressive 13/15 K/BB ratio. He's likely to get the bulk of the playing time behind the plate next year, regardless of whether the Marlins are able to find a taker for John Buck.

Mon Sep 17 201222:07Rob Brantly picks up three hits
Rob Brantly went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's loss to the Braves.
It's the first three-hit game of the youngster's career. Brantly now has an eight-game hitting streak going and is batting a cool .343 with two homers over his first 79 big league plate appearances. You could do worse than him as your second catcher in mixed leagues.

Tue Aug 14 201222:07Rob Brantly hitless in MLB debut
Rob Brantly went hitless in three at-bats in his Major League debut on Tuesday as the Marlins were shutout by Kyle Kendrick and the Phillies.
Brantly was swinging an impressive .365/.389/.558 in 14 games for the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate since coming over in the trade that sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers. He has strong offensive upside and is worthy of a look in two-catcher formats should he receive regular playing time with the Fish.

The 23-year-old prospect was promoted on Sunday evening and is now ready for action after spending a day adjusting to big league life. Brantly had a .365/.389/.558 batting line in 14 games for the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate and deserves consideration in NL-only fantasy leagues.
