Wed Jan 11 202318:14Dodgers Looking To Acquire Miguel Rojas
The Los Angeles Dodgers are deep in trade talks for Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas, according to sources. No deal is done yet, but it could be headed that way. The Dodgers lost star shortstop Trea Turner to the Philadelphia Phillies in free agency this offseason, so Rojas would step in as a temporary solution for the Dodgers at the 6 in 2023. The 33-year-old hit a disappointing .236/.283/.323 with a .605 OPS, six home runs, 36 RBI, 34 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 140 games for the Fish in 2022, but he also played most of the season with a wrist injury that required surgery. In nine major-league seasons, he's been a .260/.314/.358 hitter with a career .672 OPS. If healthy and in a much stronger Dodgers lineup, Rojas will have much more fantasy appeal.

Mon Oct 3 202218:30Miguel Rojas To Have Wrist Surgery Wednesday
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (wrist) is set to undergo wrist surgery on Wednesday, the final day of the regular season, to address an injured right wrist that he's played with for almost two and a half months. He's in the starting lineup on Monday against Atlanta Braves right-hander Bryce Elder, starting at shortstop and hitting eighth. Rojas has played in 57 of the team's 68 games following the All-Star break entering Monday's game against the Braves. On the year, the 33-year-old shortstop is hitting .237/.282/.324 with a .606 OPS, all of which are the lowest marks during his Marlins career. Despite the disappointment at the plate, he's made 65 straight starts at shortstop without an error and should be in consideration for the National League Gold Glove award at the 6.

Sat Jul 2 202213:25Miguel Rojas Back In The Lineup On Saturday
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (neck) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against right-hander Jackson Tetreault and the Washington Nationals. Rojas nearly collided with his teammate Joey Wendle on Friday while trying to field a single off the bat of Nationals second baseman Luis Garcia. Rojas initially stayed in the game, but he wound up being lifted after his ensuing at-bat. After the game, it was reported that Rojas suffered a neck/shoulder injury during the Garcia ground ball. However, Marlins manager Don Mattingly didn't seem very concerned about the injury, stating that his removal was mostly precautionary.

Sun May 22 202206:45Miguel Rojas Dealing With Calf Tightness
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (calf) was removed from Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves with left calf tightness. He exited the game early in the top of the seventh inning and was replaced by Erik Gonzalez. The 33-year-old went 0-for-2 before leaving. He has played through a calf issue since May 11th and is day-to-day. Rojas is slashing .205/.250/.308 with two home runs, seven RBI, 12 runs scored, and a stolen base over 34 games in 2022. Gonzalez would see an uptick in playing time while Rojas is sidelined. The 30-year-old isn't on the fantasy radar after slashing .182/.280/.462 over 26 plate appearances this season.

Thu Apr 28 202216:50Miguel Rojas Exits Thursday After Being Hit By Pitch
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (jaw) was hit in his batter's helmet by a pitch from Washington Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin on Thursday. More specifically, the pitch hit the flap of Rojas's helmet, right in front of his jaw. Rojas went down instantly after the incident and was tended to by trainers. He was taken out of the game and was tested for a concussion. We are still awaiting the results of the concussion, but for now, he has been diagnosed with a jaw contusion.

Wed Oct 27 202111:39Miguel Rojas Signs An Extension
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas agreed to a two-year, $10 million extension to stay with the team through 2023. Rojas had a vesting option activate upon reaching 500 plate appearances in 2021, so this really only adds one year to his contract. Still, he's a solid veteran presence whose bat has developed into a usable fantasy asset in deeper leagues. He hit .265/.322/.392 with nine home runs, 48 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 2021 despite missing some time due to injury. He should remain near the top of what is expected to be an improved Marlins lineup for the 2022 season.

Wed Sep 8 202117:07Miguel Rojas Back In The Lineup On Wednesday
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (neck, shoulder) is back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Rojas missed a couple of days with left trapezius soreness, but it was never a serious concern, and he should be back at full strength. He'll hit in the leadoff spot and pick up where he left off with a .276/.335/.413 batting line.

Tue Sep 7 202116:51Miguel Rojas Not Starting On Tuesday
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (neck/shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. Rojas was forced to leave Sunday's game with left trapezius soreness, but Marlins manager Don Mattingly said the issue is minor and likely not something that will linger. The Marlins had Monday off, so this may just be to give Rojas one more day to fully heal. If he is not in Wednesday's lineup, then fantasy managers may have cause for concern. For now, he can be considered day-to-day. Jazz Chisholm is sliding over to shortstop with Joe Panik getting the start at second base.

Fri Sep 3 202122:37Miguel Rojas Has Three Hits In Friday's Win
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas had a three-hit game in Friday's 10-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Rojas went 3-for-3 with three singles, also adding a walk. He scored twice and drove in three runs. With second baseman Jazz Chisholm taking the leadoff spot in this one, Rojas slid down to the second spot in the batting order and thrived. The three-hit game lifts his batting average to .274 and his OPS to .745. He has 39 RBI on the season and has been one of the more consistent bats in the Marlins lineup all year.

Fri Sep 3 202101:27Miguel Rojas Leads Off With A Home Run
Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas led off Thursday's game with a solo home run. Rojas took the first pitch of the game and deposited it into the left field seats, giving the Marlins a quick 1-0 lead that wouldn't last too long. Rojas ended up going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and the RBI from his solo shot. Rojas has been hitting in the first spot in the Marlins order most games lately, and he's batting .269 with a .735 OPS. While he's far from the stereotypical leadoff hitter, Rojas gets the job done and also plays outstanding defense. He's a much more valuable "real life" ballplayer, but he certainly has fantasy value still, especially in deeper formats.

Sun Jul 25 202102:43Sandoval loses no-hitter in 9th, Angels beat Twins 2-1
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [More]

Sat Jul 24 202121:53Rougned Odor helps Yankees rally for 4-3 win over Red Sox
BOSTON (AP) — Rougned Odor’s two-run double highlighted a four-run rally in the eighth inning after his two errors helped Boston build an early lead, and the New York Yankees beat the Red Sox 4-3 on Saturday. Gleyber Torres added a go-ahead, bloop single for the Yankees. They are 3-9 this season against their longtime rivals. The Red Sox, who had won four in a row, put runners on second and third with two outs in the ninth before Aroldis Chapman struck out Kiké Hernández for his 18th save. Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi was breezing along, throwing a shutout with two outs in the eighth before he was lifted after Brett Gardner’s RBI single. Adam Ottavino (2-3) relieved and allowed Giancarlo Stanton’s bloop, ground-rule double. Odor drove his tying hit off the Green Monster and Torres followed a single that dropped in down the right-field line. New York starter Jameson Taillon (6-4) gave up three runs — one earned — in seven innings, striking out four and walking three. DIAMONDBACKS 7, CUBS... [More]
