RHP Williams Perez (1-1) took his first loss of the season as he gave up six runs and nine hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts at Pittsburgh. However, manager Fredi Gonzalez was happy to get six innings from Perez after needing to use six relievers for a total of 5 1/3 innings on Sunday in a 13-inning loss at Kansas City.

RHP Williams Perez, who starts Monday at Pittsburgh, used only 85 pitches to complete eight innings Wednesday to defeat the Phillies. He became just the third Braves pitcher to make it that deep into a game in as few pitches since 2000. Greg Maddux did it twice, while Tom Glavine did it once.

RHP Williams Perez faced just one batter over the minimum in eight innings during a 5-1 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday. He was recalled from Triple-A earlier in the day when RHP Jhoulys Chacin was traded, and he built off the one-hit shutout he threw in his last Triple-A start. Perez allowed two hits, including a homer, walked none and struck out four. He went to three balls on just one hitter and induced a double play after the second Phillies hit. He threw only 85 pitches.

RHP Williams Perez, who pitched his way out of the Atlanta rotation, allowed just one hit for Triple-A Gwinnett in his first career shutout on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one in the 4-0 victory over Charlotte. Perez is 1-2 with a 3.26 ERA in three starts for Gwinnett after going 0-0 with a 5.11 ERA for Atlanta.

RHP Williams Perez was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Perez broke camp as the No. 4 starter and made three starts, receiving no decision each time, and a 5.11 in 12 1/3 innings. He has failed to pitch past the fifth inning in any of his starts.

RHP Williams Perez pitch 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his start on Tuesday against the Dodgers. Perez was yanked with two runners on base after throwing just 56 pitches while working on short rest. After quickly retiring the side in order in the first, Perez allowed a runner to reach scoring position in each of the next three innings.

RHP Williams Perez will make his first start of the season and his first career appearance against the Cardinals. Perez made 23 appearances in 2015, 20 of them starts, and went 7-6 with a 4.78 ERA. Perez and Jhoulys Chacin were in contention for the final spot in the team's rotation, but the club decided to keep Perez and option Chacin to Triple-A Gwinnett until they needed a No. 5 starter sometime next week.

Perez (7-6) tossed six scoreless innings in a win over the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out three.
While the final numbers are unsightly (4.78 ERA, 1.55 WHIP), Perez finished the season strong, throwing quality starts in four of his final five starts and picking up three wins during that span to push his record above .500. His late-season success likely won't be enough to push him onto the standard mixed-league radar, but Perez should at least compete for a starting role in spring training.

Perez received no decision after allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings Wednesday against the Mets.
Perez was actually in line to lose when he departed the game, but the Braves rallied late to win. He's allowed three or fewer runs in four straight starts, but after striking out 16 over 18.2 innings in his last three outings, he regressed to just two whiffs in this one. Perez's inability to miss bats at a high rate in combination with his too-high walk rate makes him a highly risky fantasy roll next week against Washington.

Perez (6-6) yielded a single run on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings in Friday's win over Philadelphia.
After being knocked around for much of the summer, Perez has strung together three consecutive solid outings. In those starts, Perez is 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA and a 7.71 K/9 rate. Perez allows too many base runners, posting a 1.57 WHIP for the season and a 1.29 WHIP over his last three starts, to warrant being picked up this season, but a few more starts like this could set a promising foundation for 2016 for the young righty.

Perez allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings, but received no decision Saturday against the Mets.
Perez was in line for the loss before the Braves offense bailed him out with three runs in the eighth inning. After giving up at least four earned runs in five straight starts, he's turned things around by throwing a pair of consecutive quality starts. He'll make his next start Friday against Philadelphia.

Perez won and improved to 5-6 Monday against Philadelphia as he allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings. He struck out seven and didn't walk a batter.
This is arguably the best start of Perez's season. In 16 starts, it's his sixth quality start, the fourth time he's lasted seven innings, the third time he has recorded seven strikeouts (tying a career high), and the first time he has completed a start without walking a batter. Perez had a brutal August (8.44 ERA, 11:15 K:BB in five starts) and owns a 5.42 ERA on the season.

Perez allowed six runs -- four earned -- on nine hits over five innings in a losing effort against the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.
While the results in Atlanta this season have been disappointing for Perez overall (5.65 ERA, 13.4% K%, 11.1% BB%), he's flashed enough at Triple-A (23.4% K%, 6.5% BB%) to remain in the mix for a rotation spot in 2016 depending on the quality of the alternatives the Braves acquire over the course of the offseason. He's currently lined up for a two-start week beginning Monday against the Phillies before a second turn September 12 against the Mets.
Wed Sep 2 201510:49Perez recalled to start Wednesday's game against Marlins
Perez has been recalled to start Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Perez was optioned following his last start, but will be recalled to make his next turn in the rotation. His last outing was less than ideal, as the 24-year-old allowed eight runs on five hits over just 1.2 innings. He'll look for a better outing Wednesday, facing the Marlins.

Perez will be recalled to start Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Mike Foltynewicz was placed on the 15-day DL with an illness, so Perez will take his spot in the rotation for now. Perez posted a 5.33 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 77.2 innings as a starter earlier this season, so it would be wise to stay away from him in most formats.

Perez was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Another disastrous outing Friday was the last straw for Perez -- he was clobbered for eight runs in just 1.2 innings against the Yankees to fall to 0-5 with a 9.87 ERA since his return from the DL in late July. Jacob Brigham was recalled in a corresponding move, but it's uncertain whom the Braves will turn to fill the fifth rotation spot in September.

Perez (4-5) was shelled Friday night, surrendering eight runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings in a loss to the Yankees.
Perez has been on a very steep decline as of late. Since going 4-0 with a 2.14 ERA in his first seven starts, Perez is 0-5 with a 9.08 ERA in his last seven outings. During that time he has walked more batters, 21, than he has struck out, 16. It's unlikely that any fantasy owners are aboard this sinking ship, but if they are, it's probably time to find a life preserver.

Perez got hammered Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings, but escaped with a no-decision. He struck out four.
He's seen his ERA balloon by nearly two full runs over five starts since returning from the DL, but with the Braves already looking ahead to 2016, Perez will likely remain in the rotation and given a chance to turn things around. His next start is scheduled for Friday, at home against the Yankees.
