Cody Ransom hit his first home run as a Diamonback Sunday to pace a win over the Dodgers.
Random's two-run shot off Clayton Kershaw gave the Diamondbacks a 4-3 lead that they protected. The utility man will continue to split at-bats with Willie Bloomquist at shortstop over the final two months with Stephen Drew (ankle) sidelined.

Wed Jul 20 201123:59D'Backs likely to promote Ransom on Thurs.
The Diamondbacks are likely to promote Cody Ranson from the minor leagues on Thursday.
D'Backs shortstop Stephen Drew suffered a fractured right ankle Wednesday while sliding into home plate and could be done for the rest of the 2011 regular season. Ransom has managed a stellar 1.060 OPS, 25 home runs and 86 RBI in 91 games this year for Triple-A Reno and may do well in the power-friendly confines of Chase Field.

Wed Jan 19 201122:58D'Backs ink Cody Ransom to minors deal
Diamondbacks signed INF Cody Ransom to a minor league contract.
Ransom gained a bit of fame back in 2009 when he filled in for Alex Rodriguez as the third baseman recovered from hip surgery. But the 34-year-old Ransom did not hit well then, does not hit well now, and owns a measly .227/.311/.391 career batting line across 304 major league at-bats. He is likely to serve as organizational depth for the D'Backs, beginning the year at Triple-A.
Mon Aug 9 201013:57Phillies outright Cody Ransom to Triple-A
Phillies sent INF Cody Ransom outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Ransom was desiganted for assignment by the Phillies last week after batting just .190 over 42 at-bats in the big leagues. He could have tested the free agent waters but decided to stick with a quality organization.
Thu Aug 5 201014:17Ransom designated for assignment
Phillies designated INF Cody Ransom for assignment.
He batted just .190 in 42 at-bats with the Phillies. The roster spot was needed with Mike Sweeney added to the big club.
Sat Jul 3 201012:58Phils call upon Ransom
Phillies purchased the contract of INF Cody Ransom from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Ransom can play all over the infield, so it's possible he could get a decent number of starts at second and/or third base while Chase Utley and Placido Polanco are out. He strikes out a ton, but with his power he could carve out some value in NL-only formats if he finds some playing time. Brian Bocock was designated for assignment to clear room on the roster.
