Mon Jan 10 201117:46Reds sign Fred Lewis to one-year deal
Reds signed OF Fred Lewis to a one-year, $900,000 contract.
Lewis, 30, batted .262/.332/.414 with eight homers, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases with the Blue Jays last season. Many teams looked at him as a potential fourth outfielder this winter, but there's a chance he could split left field duties with Jonny Gomes this season.
Mon Jan 3 201113:27Reds have interest in free agent Fred Lewis
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Reds have expressed interest in free agent outfielder Fred Lewis.
The Blue Jays non-tendered Lewis earlier this winter to avoid paying him a sizable raise via salary arbitration. He batted .262/.332/.414 with eight homers, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 2010 and would make a fine utility outfielder in Cincinnati behind starters Jonny Gomes, Drew Stubbs and Jay Bruce. However, there's a chance that Lewis will want more playing time than the Reds can provide. The Mets, Tigers and Indians are also interested.

Mon Dec 6 201021:14Multiple teams have interest in Fred Lewis
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Indians, Tigers and Mets are among the seven to eight teams that have expressed interest in free agent outfielder Fred Lewis.
Lewis, who turns 30 in three days, was non-tendered by the Blue Jays after batting .262/.332/.414 batting line with eight home runs, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases this past season. He probably won't be able to find a job as a starting outfielder, but he could be a valuable bench player.

A bit of a surprise. Lewis turned in a decent .262/.332/.414 batting line with eight home runs, 36 RBI and 17 stolen bases over 428 at-bats in 2010. He's now a free agent should draw interest on the open market.

Fred Lewis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Indians.
Lewis is over that sore ankle, but with just 11 steals all season his fantasy value is capped. The three homers and 10 RBI this month are more of the ceiling than the norm. Mixed leaguers can certainly do better at the outfield position.

Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said that Fred Lewis (bunion) might be able to play on Wednesday.
Lewis was a late scratch from Tuesday's game due to a bunion on his left foot. Of course, Lewis underwent season-ending surgery to remove a bunion from his right big toe in 2008, but this new injury is not believed to be as serious. There's a chance Gaston could take advantage of the scheduled off-day on Thursday, providing Lewis will three days off.
