Sun Jul 22 201210:12Rays have 'sniffed around' on Ramon Hernandez
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Rays have "sniffed around" on Ramon Hernandez.
The Rays could certainly use an upgrade behind the plate, though Hernandez is owed $3.2 million next season and is batting just .200/.244/.348 during an injury-shortened 2012 campaign. The Mets and Nationals have also shown interest in the veteran backstop.

Fri Jul 13 201218:09Rockies activate C Hernandez from 15-day DL
Rockies activated C Ramon Hernandez from the 15-day disabled list.
Hernandez has been sidelined since late May due to a strained muscle in his left hand. Wilin Rosario is a work in progress behind the plate right now, but he has swung the bat well enough to get the bulk of the playing time moving forward. It may not be long before Hernandez is shipped elsewhere.

Thu Jul 12 201221:48Hernandez (hand) no longer at Triple-A
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that Ramon Hernandez (hand) is no longer with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
We're assuming this means he'll be activated from the disabled list Friday. Hernandez went 2-for-12 (.167) with a home run and four RBI over four rehab games with the Sky Sox. He'll take a backseat to rookie Wilin Rosario upon his return and figures to be dealt before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Sun Jul 8 201209:56Ramon Hernandez to Mets could happen
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York was told by a source that while it's not guaranteed, they predict a trade sending Ramon Hernandez to the Mets will happen.
"I think Hernandez will be a Met," the source said. Rubin adds that the Mets have tried to expand the deal to include lefty reliever Matt Reynolds. Hernandez is currently on the DL with a left hand strain but is due back soon. He would be an upgrade at catcher over Josh Thole. Joel Sherman of the New York Post first reported the Mets' interest in the veteran backstop.

Fri Jul 6 201210:23Rosario will play over Hernandez
Ramon Hernandez (hand) is expected to receive less playing time than Wilin Rosario after being activated from the disabled list.
Troy Renck of the Denver Post writes that it would be "to protect his left hand, if nothing else," but Rosario is simply hitting too well to give up the starting job, as he ranks second on the team to Carlos Gonzalez with his 14 home runs. It also makes a lot more sense for the out-of-contention Rockies to play the younger player. Hernandez is currently on a rehab assignment and is due back soon.

Ramon Hernandez (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs Wednesday.
Hernandez has been out much longer than expected while recovering from a left hand injury, but he's finally ready to test it out in a game. He should return just after the All-Star break if he can avoid a setback, but he figures to play second fiddle behind Wilin Rosario.

Rockies signed C Ramon Hernandez to a two-year, $6.4 million contract.
The deal was reached in November but took a few weeks to be finalized. Hernandez, 35, batted .283/.342/.451 for the Reds in 2011 and is expected to start at catcher in Colorado now that Chris Iannetta is out of the picture. He'll again make for a decent fantasy option.

Wed Nov 30 201119:45Rockies, Hernandez reach two-year, $6.4M deal
The Rockies' new two-year deal with catcher Ramon Hernandez is worth a total of $6.4 million.
Hernandez only has to pass a physical before the agreement can be finalized. He posted a decent .283/.342/.451 slash line this year for the Reds and should remain a productive offensive player for the next two seasons out in Colorado. The Rockies traded Chris Iannetta to the Angels in a corresponding move.

Mon Nov 28 201114:31Report: Rockies interested in C Hernandez
The Rockies are considering signing free agent catcher Ramon Hernandez, which could lead to a trade of Chris Iannetta to the Angels, according to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
The Angels also may be interested in Hernandez and have been linked to the Reds' Ryan Hanigan. Iannetta is signed for $3.55 million in 2012 while Hernandez made $3 million with Cincinnati in 2011. Hernandez is a Type B free agent. The 35-year-old backstop is coming off another solid year, hitting .283/.342/.451 with 12 homers in 293 at-bats, and figures to land a part-time role this offseason.

Sat Nov 26 201113:00Dodgers could make a run at Ramon Hernandez
ESPN's Buster Olney speculates that the Angels could make a run at free agent Ramon Hernandez now that he's longer tied to first-round compensation.
It was highly unlikely the Reds would have offered Hernandez arbitration under the old rules but he'll now be treated as a ''Type B'' for compensation purposes, which should make him more attractive to another team who may want him to sign. The 35-year-old backstop is coming off another solid season, hitting .283/.342/.451 with 12 homers in 293 at-bats, and figures to land a part-time role this offseason.
