Roy Halladay (shoulder) threw a five-inning simulated game Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida.
Halladay reported feeling fine. He will continue to work out at the Phillies' spring training complex until the team's medical staff clears him for minor league rehab games. There's some hope that the veteran right-hander will be ready for activation by the end of August.

Fri Aug 9 201321:03Roy Halladay to throw simulated game Saturday
Roy Halladay (shoulder) will throw a simulated game at the Phillies' spring training complex in Clearwater, Florida on Saturday.
Halladay came out of Monday's bullpen session feeling strong, and could return to the Phillies' rotation in late August as long as he avoids any setback. Fantasy owners should approach with caution though, and let Halladay demonstrate his health before inserting him into lineups.

Roy Halladay (shoulder) will head to the Phillies' spring training complex in Clearwater, Florida on Thursday.
Halladay threw a five-inning bullpen session on Monday evening and came out of it feeling strong. He'll start facing live hitters down in Florida and could rejoin the Phillies' starting rotation at some point in late August or early September if all continues to go well. The veteran righty underwent shoulder surgery in mid-May.

Tue Aug 6 201321:56Roy Halladay throws five-inning pen session
Roy Halladay (shoulder) threw a five-inning bullpen session Monday.
Doc will throw one more pen session before presumably progressing to either a simulated game or possibly a rehab assignment. Recovering from surgery to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his torn rotator cuff, Halladay is hoping to rejoin the Phillies' rotation in late August or early September.

Sun Jul 21 201310:56Roy Halladay throws bullpen session Sunday
Roy Halladay (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday.
It's the first time he's thrown from the mound since undergoing shoulder surgery in May. For what it's worth, CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury said the catcher's miss was "popping pretty good" during Doc's throwing session. The Phillies are hoping to get the right-hander back in their rotation by late August.

Mon Jun 24 201321:23Roy Halladay (shoulder) plays catch Monday
Roy Halladay (shoulder) played catch on Monday.
It's the first time he's done so since undergoing shoulder surgery last month. Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee was very pleased with what he saw. "It looks very, very good," Dubee said. "The arm action, he's able to get his arm back up very easily. No effort at all. Whereas before because of the stuff that he had going on in his shoulder, he couldn't get it up on a consistent basis. But now his arm slot is fantastic and he's doing very very well so far. He's a long ways from pitching, but everything so far is going to according to plan." Halladay is hoping to rejoin the Phillies rotation by late August.

Fri May 24 201316:33Phils move RHP Roy Halladay to 60-day DL
Phillies transferred RHP Roy Halladay from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for Michael Martinez on the 40-man roster. It won't have any impact on Halladay's timeline, as he had shoulder surgery earlier this month and is unlikely to make it back until late August at the earliest.

Wed May 22 201320:02Roy Halladay shooting for late August return
Roy Halladay (shoulder) could rejoin the Phillies' rotation in late August if everything progresses on schedule.
Halladay, who had surgery last week to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his torn rotator cuff, reported to extended spring training Monday to begin his rehab. General manager Ruben Amaro said Doc has pretty good range of motion and is "pretty positive." Obviously late August is so far away that it's just a rough timetable, but, given Halladay's famous work ethic, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him pitching later this season.

Roy Halladay underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his rotator cuff.
Halladay is hoping to resume throwing in 6-8 weeks and will try to make it back before the end of the 2013 season. The right-hander had an 8.65 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 35/17 K/BB ratio over his first 34 1/3 innings this season. He can be dropped in all non-keeper leagues.

Roy Halladay will have surgery next Wednesday to have a bone spur removed from his right shoulder as well as a partially torn rotator cuff and frayed labrum repaired.

Wed May 8 201314:05Roy Halladay to have surgery on shoulder
Roy Halladay confirmed Wednesday that he will have surgery on his right shoulder.
Halladay will have a bone spur removed from his shoulder as well as fraying of his labrum and rotator cuff addressed. The veteran right-hander is optimistic about pitching again this season, but we should have a better idea about a timetable once the surgery is completed. Halladay is in the final guaranteed year of a three-year, $60 million contract.

Wed May 8 201312:27Halladay to give update on shoulder Wednesday
Roy Halladay will provide an update on his right shoulder on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
Halladay was placed on the disabled list over the weekend with right shoulder discomfort and paid a visit to Dr. Lewis Yocum on Monday. It's not clear if surgery is being discussed, but clearly something isn't right with the veteran right-hander, as he holds a miserable 8.65 ERA in 34 1/3 innings this season.

Mon May 6 201314:52Roy Halladay (shoulder) put on disabled list
Phillies placed RHP Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury.
The Phillies aren't exactly sure what's wrong with Halladay, but he has an 8.65 ERA in 34 1/3 innings this season and they're done running him out there. The veteran starting pitcher will visit Dr. Lewis Yocum early this week for a full examination of his right arm. He has been experiencing shoulder discomfort since his April 24 start against the Pirates.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Roy Halladay is likely headed to the disabled list with a shoulder injury.
The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but Halladay said that he's been dealing with shoulder discomfort since his April 24 start against the Pirates. He'll be examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum early this week before the any decisions are made. Triple-A starters Adam Morgan and Tyler Cloyd are candidate to take his spot in the Phillies' rotation.

Sun May 5 201317:45Roy Halladay rocked again as Phillies lose
Roy Halladay coughed up nine earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings Sunday as the Phillies lost to the Marlins.
Halladay has now been rocked in back-to-back outings after showing some small signs of promise in mid-April. He has an 8.65 ERA in 34 1/3 total innings this season. The Phillies can't keep running him out there.

Tue Apr 30 201322:04Halladay takes a step back vs. Indians
Roy Halladay allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings Tuesday in the Phillies' loss to the Indians.
Things were going so well, too. Halladay had turned in three quality starts in his last three outings before Tuesday's game, so it was certainly disappointing to see him take a step in the wrong direction. Pitchers have bad outings from time to time, but it's hard to give Halladay the benefit of the doubt given his rocky start to the season. Halladay has a more user-friendly matchup Sunday against the Marlins.

Wed Apr 24 201322:22Halladay strong again in no-decision vs. Bucs
Roy Halladay allowed one run over six innings, but the Phillies lost to the Pirates on Wednesday.
Halladay left with a 3-1 lead only to see the bullpen blow it, saddling him with a no-decision. It doesn't take away the fact that Halladay has now made three straight starts where he's gone at least six innings and allowed two runs or fewer. Wednesday was arguably his best start yet, as he allowed only one hit while striking out eight. There was some consternation about Halladay's velocity early on, but it looks like he's learned to pitch with his new limitations. His next start will come Tuesday in an interleague tilt with the Indians.

Fri Apr 19 201322:17Halladay tosses seven strong frames in win
Roy Halladay gave up a pair of solo homers over seven innings Friday in an 8-2 rain-shortened win over the Cardinals.
The game was called in the seventh inning. The home runs by Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday were the only hits Halladay gave up on the night. He struck out six and walked two in the victory and retired 14 batters in a row at one point. Halladay also showed improved velocity with his fastball, hitting 92 mph in his final inning of work. With back-to-back strong starts under his belt, he'll hope to carry the momentum into a favorable outing against the Pirates next Wednesday.

Sun Apr 14 201316:13Halladay holds Marlins to one run over eight
Roy Halladay tossed eight innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Marlins, holding them to five hits while walking one and striking out two.
The outing comes with an asterisk next to it, as a woeful Marlins lineup was made even more laughable with Giancarlo Stanton out with a minor injury. Nevertheless, it has to be considered a step in the right direction after Halladay gave up 12 runs while failing to record an out beyond the fourth inning in his first two starts. Chances are Doc is done as an elite starter, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he's able to figure things out with diminished stuff. He'll get the Cardinals next.

Mon Apr 8 201322:09Roy Halladay labors again in loss to Mets
Roy Halladay labored again in Monday's loss to the Mets, allowing seven runs over four-plus innings.
Halladay flat out couldn't put hitters away. He allowed six hits (including a three-run homer by John Buck), three walks and hit a batter. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel brought the hook after he gave up three straight hits to begin the fifth inning. This is the first time Halladay has allowed five or more runs in consecutive starts since joining the Phillies. It's also the first time that he has gone four innings or fewer in back-to-back starts since 2004. His ERA sits at 14.73 through two starts. Something just isn't right.
