Wed Jul 27 2011 | 23:21 | Cameron goes 2-for-5 with a pair of homers |
Mike Cameron went 2-for-5 with a pair of homers and three RBI in Wednesday's 7-5 win against the Nationals. |
It was easily his best game as a Marlin. Cameron is still batting just .163/.248/.319 through 135 at-bats this season, but he's shown small signs of life by posting consecutive multi-hit games this week. He's ownable in NL-only leagues due to the amount of playing time he receives in Florida, but you shouldn't expect him to duplicate tonight's performance. |

Mon Jul 11 2011 | 05:42 | Cameron to receive plenty of playing time |
According to Phil Rogers at the Chicago Tribune, Mike Cameron is expected to receive a lot of playing time, as the Marlins aim to lessen their younger outfielders' workloads. |
That should be good news for opposing pitchers. Cameron carries a forgettable .144/.222/.279 batting line into the All-Star break. |

Sun Jul 10 2011 | 16:03 | Mike Cameron gets first hit as a Marlin |
Making his third start for the Marlins on Sunday, Mike Cameron hit a two-run homer in a 5-4 win over the Astros. |
He is now 1-for-10 in a Marlins uniform. Batting just .144 on the season, you should keep your expectations very low if you've picked him up in your NL-only league. |

Thu Jul 7 2011 | 14:20 | Cameron makes first start with Marlins Thu. |
Mike Cameron will start in center field and bat sixth for the Marlins on Thursday night against the Astros. |
Cameron fouled out in a pinch-hit appearance on Wednesday night, but this will be his first start. He figures to get the majority of the playing time in center field moving forward, at least until Chris Coghlan makes his way back to the major leagues. Go ahead and pick him up in NL-only formats. |

Tue Jul 5 2011 | 18:48 | BoSox to cover majority of Cameron's contract |
According to Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins will be responsible for less than $200,000 of Mike Cameron's $7.25 million salary for this season. |
In other words, the Marlins have very little to lose here. Cameron figures to play regularly in center field in the short-term, with Emilio Bonifacio moving to third base. The 38-year-old is likely a stop-gap until Chris Coghlan (knee) proves worthy of returning to the majors, but he's worthy of a pickup in NL-only leagues. |

Tue Jul 5 2011 | 18:17 | Marlins acquire Mike Cameron from Red Sox |
Marlins acquired OF Mike Cameron and cash considerations from the Red Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations. |
Cameron was designated for assignment by the Red Sox last week. Money aside, it's a solid addition for the Marlins, who have a lousy .233/.295/.365 batting line and .660 OPS out of center field this season. Of course, Cameron also carries the reputation as a strong defender. The 38-year-old was hitting just .149/.212/. 266 with three homers and nine RBI over 105 plate appearances with the Red Sox this season, but he's immediately worth consideration in NL-only formats. |

Fri Jul 1 2011 | 12:27 | Nats not interested in Mike Cameron |
Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports that the Nationals do not have interest in Mike Cameron, who was recently designated for assignment by the Red Sox. |
The Nats have been seeking help in center field all season, but evidently they don't feel that Cameron is the answer to their problems. Cameron hit just .149/.212/. 266 with three homers and nine RBI over 105 plate appearances with the Red Sox this season but should be able to find work after he clears waivers. |

Thu Jun 30 2011 | 12:25 | BoSox designate Mike Cameron for assignment |
Red Sox designated OF Mike Cameron for assignment. |
Assuming they don't find a trade partner, the Red Sox will be responsible for the remainder of $7.25 million salary for this season. While Cameron didn't live up to his contract in Boston, he shouldn't have any problem finding work once he's available at the league minimum. His departure is good news for Josh Reddick, who should have an increased role moving forward. |

Fri Apr 29 2011 | 22:38 | Cameron hits two home runs in loss |
Mike Cameron hit two solo homers in Boston's loss to the Mariners on Friday. |
The bombs were his first two of the season, and good for his first multi-homer night since September 21, 2009. Both came off of Mariners starter Jason Vargas. A great night for Cameron, but he can still be safely ignored in all but the deepest of mixed leagues. |

Mike Cameron (knee) returned to the Boston lineup Thursday and finished 1-for-4 while playing DH. |
"It was good to put the bat on the ball," Cameron said. "I didn't know where I was going to be today after a few days off. I was a little out of sync, but for the most part I was seeing the ball well and putting some good swings on it." The veteran outfielder had been sidelined by soreness in his left knee. He should be highly active through the start of the regular season. |

Wed Mar 9 2011 | 18:00 | Red Sox don't expect to trade Mike Cameron |
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox don't expect to trade Mike Cameron this spring. |
The Red Sox like the depth that Cameron provides, especially with injury-prone players like J.D. Drew and Jacoby Ellsbury patrolling the Boston outfield. Cameron, 38, batted .259/.328/.401 with four home runs and 15 RBI spanning just 48 games in 2010. He's drawn some interest, but it'll take a decent-sized offer to lure him away. |

Wed Mar 9 2011 | 15:44 | Cameron (knee) out again Wednesday |
Mike Cameron (knee) is out of the lineup again Wednesday. |
Cameron was originally scheduled to the designated hitter tonight, but he'll get another day off to rest his sore left knee. He's now expected to be the DH Thursday against the Rays. |

Mike Cameron will take it easy for the next couple of days due to soreness in his left knee. |
Cameron was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals and probably won't return to the lineup until later in the week. He's being called day-to-day and should be fine eventually. |

Sun Feb 20 2011 | 08:22 | Report: Mike Cameron could still be traded |
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo thinks the Red Sox could still trade Mike Cameron sometime before the end of spring training. |
The Sox fielded offers on Cameron after they signed Carl Crawford but found nothing to their liking. Maybe that will change after teams suffer spring injuries that are bound to occur. If not, Boston will be happy to hang on to him and play him in right and center field against left-handed pitching. Cameron is coming back from abdominal surgery but entered spring training with no restrictions. |

Thu Jan 6 2011 | 08:53 | Cameron has not requested trade from BoSox |
Mike Cameron's agent Mike Nicotera told Alex Speier of WEEI.com that his client has not requested a trade. |
Crawford is projected to be a fourth outfielder for the Red Sox after the Carl Crawford signing, but it sounds as if he is willing to accept his new role. "From Mike's standpoint, no, there's no push to get out of Boston," explained Nicotera. "There's no push that I've got to go, I've got to get out of here. Mike, Theo and I all got on the same page very quickly and feel really good about things, really. He's excited the team has gotten better in the offseason and he's excited to be a part of it." The Red Sox haven't actively shopped Cameron, but they are listening to offers. And why not? The 37-year-old outfielder is owed $7.25 million in 2011. |

Tue Dec 14 2010 | 11:47 | Phillies have kicked tires on Mike Cameron |
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Phillies have "kicked the tires" on Red Sox outfielder Mike Cameron. |
The Red Sox signed Carl Crawford to a massive long-term deal last week, making Cameron expendable. They could just keep the 37-year-old around as insurance for Jacoby Ellsbury and J.D. Drew, who both carry injury risks, but shedding his $7.25 million contract for 2011 would probably be the smarter move. The Phils could then ease Domonic Brown into a starting role. |

Thu Dec 9 2010 | 12:44 | Mike Cameron drawing trade interest |
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Red Sox have already received several inquiries in regards to Mike Cameron. |
According to Stark, the Red Sox are telling teams that they plan to keep him, but they will listen. Cameron, who turns 38 in January, is set to make $7.25 million in 2011 and is suddenly a very expensive fourth outfielder. It's possible the Red Sox could keep him as insurance for Jacoby Ellsbury and use him as a right-handed bat off the bench. |

Fri Nov 12 2010 | 16:24 | Cameron's rehab going as planned |
Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said Mike Cameron's (sports hernia surgery) rehab "is going as scheduled." |
Red Sox doctors will visit with Cameron next week in Georgia to check his progress. The outfielder's first season in Boston didn't go as planned, as he dealt with the hernia almost all season and ended up with just 162 at-bats. He should come into spring training healthy barring any setbacks. |

Fri Nov 12 2010 | 14:15 | Red Sox activate Cameron, Tazawa from DL |
Red Sox activated OF Mike Cameron and RHP Junichi Tazawa from the 60-day disabled list. |
Cameron underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle in late August. The 37-year-old batted .259/.328/.401 with four home runs and 15 RBI in just 48 games this past season. He is owed $7.25 million in 2011 and could be a trade candidate if the Red Sox are able to sign Jayson Werth or Carl Crawford this winter. |
