Tue Mar 18 2014 | 19:36 | Indians bring back Adam Miller on minors deal |
Indians signed RHP Adam Miller to a minor league contract. |
Yes, that same Adam Miller. A former first-round draft pick and top prospect of the Indians, Miller's career has been derailed by multiple surgeries on his right middle finger. He pitched in independent ball last year, posting a 4.79 ERA and 36/26 K/BB ratio over 62 innings of the Sugar Land Skeeters. It would be a great story if he makes it back to the majors, but obviously it's a long shot. |

Yankees released RHP Adam Miller. |
A former supplemental first-round pick of the Indians, Miller has failed to meet expectations at just about every turn. He had a 4.96 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 49 innings this season in the Yankees' farm system. |

Wed Jan 4 2012 | 15:41 | Yanks ink RHP Miller to minors deal |
Yankees signed RHP Adam Miller to a minor league contract. |
Joel Sherman of the New York Post first reported the possible signing last month. Miller, a supplemental first-round pick of the Indians in 2003, missed the 2009 and 2010 seasons due to multiple surgeries on his right middle finger. The 27-year-old right-hander moved to the bullpen full-time last season, posting a 5.93 ERA and 39/21 K/BB ratio over 44 innings between High- and Double-A. The odds are against him, but the former top prospect is certainly worth the gamble. |

Fri Dec 9 2011 | 09:25 | Yankees to sign Adam Miller? |
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees are close to signing former Indians top prospect Adam Miller to a minor league contract. |
A former first-round pick and one of the best pitching prospects in the game at one time, Miller has been plagued by finger problems the last few years and has still yet to make it up to the major leagues. He was moved to the bullpen full-time in 2011 for the first time but didn't fare well in the role, posting a 5.93 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 31 games at High- and Double-A. Still, there are worse gambles you could take on a minor league deal. |

Fri Apr 29 2011 | 14:30 | Adam Miller assigned to High-A |
Former Indians top prospect Adam Miller has been assigned to High-A Kinston. |
Miller has been putting some work in at extended spring training after missing each of the last two seasons due to finger problems. Filled with talent but never able to stay healthy, he figures to move up quickly as long as he stays off the DL, as he spent parts of 2006-2008 in Triple-A. The Indians have given up on him making it as a starter, hoping he can eventually become a member of their bullpen. We're rooting for him. |

Fri Nov 19 2010 | 16:18 | Tribe doesn't protect Miller from Rule 5 |
The Indians have chosen not to protect former top prospect Adam Miller from the Rule 5 draft. |
Miller has always had loads of talent, but multiple finger surgeries have really stalled his development. The former first-round pick hasn't thrown a single inning in the minors the last two seasons but was recently hitting 93-94 MPH on the radar run during the Instructional League. It will be interesting to see if someone decides to take a chance on him. |

Mon Oct 18 2010 | 16:42 | Adam Miller (finger) did well in Instructs |
According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, Adam Miller (finger) topped out at about "93 or 94 mph" in the Instructional League. |
Good to hear. Miller was a supplemental first-round pick of the Indians in 2003, but a series of surgeries on his right middle finger have left the once-promising pitching prospect's future in doubt. The right-hander hasn't thrown a professional pitch since the 2008 season. He'll need to stay healthy, which is no given, but Castrovince thinks he could be in major league camp next spring. |
