Owens (undisclosed) has been placed on injured reserve, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Owens was to compete for the Lions' slot corner job. With Darius Slay, Rashean Mathis and Josh Wilson all but assured to make the team and rookie Alex Carter a candidate for short-term injured reserve, expect Owens'designation to mean that two of Quandre Diggs, Nevin Lawson and Crezdon Butler will make the final team.

Owens (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Owens is still dealing with an LCL and bone bruise issue dating back to Week 5 against the 49ers. It will cause him to miss his third straight game, with Phillip Gaines and Jamell Fleming again expected to pick up the slack in his place.

Owens (knee) didn't practice again Thursday and is expected to miss Sunday's game, ESPN reports.
Owens' sprained LCL and bone bruise are coming along slowly, leaving him most likely doubtful for Sunday's game. If he does sit, Phillip Gaines and Jamell Fleming are the favorites to start at the nickel cornerback spot.

Owens suffered a lateral collateral ligament and a bone bruise Sunday against the 49ers, the Kansas City Star reports.
Owens was reportedly sore Monday according to coach Andy Reid, but it will be a wait-and-see approach with him. The Chiefs are on a bye in Week 6, so it's possible he will be able to return for the team's next game against the Chargers on Oct. 19.
Fri Mar 21 201417:49Chiefs sign CB Chris Owens
Chiefs signed CB Chris Owens, formerly of the Dolphins.
Owens appeared in just one game last year due to injuries and is strictly a depth signing. He has experience in the slot and will give the Chiefs a veteran backup corner. Owen, 27, has been on three different teams over the last two seasons and isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

Free agent CB Chris Owens will visit the Bucs.
The Falcons' former slot corner was released mid-season by the Browns, finishing out the year with the Dolphins. He'd be a depth signing for a Bucs team loading up on veterans.

Browns released CB Chris Owens and WR Armanti Edwards from injured reserve.
A knee injury ended Owens' season earlier this month. The Falcons' former slot corner, Owens played just one snap on defense for the Browns. A colossal bust as a return man, Edwards is likely near the end of his NFL career.

Tue Dec 3 201316:34Browns sending CB Chris Owens to I.R.
Browns placed CB Chris Owens on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
A reserve cornerback, Owens ends 2013 with only one defensive snap to his name. The Falcons' former (ineffective) nickel back, Owens was playing on a one-year deal. Owens is still only 27, but is going to have trouble finding a new home next season, particularly if his injury is serious.

Thu Aug 8 201317:50Owens 'has early edge' on Skrine at RCB
The Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports Chris Owens has the "early edge" on Buster Skrine for the Browns' right cornerback job.
Owens has received the bulk of the first-team reps opposite LCB Joe Haden since spring practices, but he's predominantly been a nickel corner since entering the league. Third-round rookie Leon McFadden is no longer considered a candidate to start due to multiple missed practices with a groin pull. The true competition begins tonight when the Browns host the Rams in their preseason opener.

The Akron Beacon-Journal reports that CB Chris Owens is a candidate for the starting job opposite Joe Haden.
Owens has been playing with the first-team defense over the last three weeks and is "practicing like a man determined to take the next step in his career." A nickel corner with the Falcons last year, Owens could be asked to start on the outside if Leon McFadden struggles in training camp.

Fri Mar 22 201313:28Browns do deal with CB Chris Owens
Browns signed CB Chris Owens, formerly of the Falcons.
New Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski knows Owens from the NFC South, but we're skeptical the 26-year-old corner will help the Browns. An oft-abused (and benched) slot corner in Atlanta, Owens lost his nickel back job to Robert McClain last year. Mostly a dime back in 2012, Owens managed 22 tackles and a forced fumble.
