Fri Jul 31 201511:12Rivers placed on Reserved/Retired list
Rivers has been placed on the Reserved/Retired list.
It doesn't look like he'll be providing the Cowboys with linebacker depth after all this season. Expect the team to sign a veteran replacement to compete for a spot in training camp.
Wed Mar 4 201519:33Rivers signed one-year contract with Cowboys on Wednesday
Rivers signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Wednesday, the National Football Post reports.
The Bengals selected Rivers with the ninth pick of the 2008 NFL Draft, and he responded with 70-tackle campaigns in his second and third season. However, prior to the fourth, he underwent wrist surgery and missed all of 2011. He was subsequently traded to the Giants prior to the 2012 campaign and signed with the Bills last offseason. After tallying 16 tackles in 12 games last year, he'll merely provide linebacker depth for the Cowboys.
Tue Feb 17 201515:39Rivers released by Bills on Tuesday
Rivers was released by the Bills on Tuesday, WGR 550 reports.
Rivers didn't get much playing time in 2014, and with 2013 rookie standout Kiko Alonso (knee) expected to return from a torn ACL, things likely wouldn't have changed next season. With Alonso, Nigel Bradham, Preston Brown and Brandon Spikes all under contract for 2015, the Bills have to be feeling pretty good about their linebacking corps. Rivers, meanwhile, will likely draw some interest as a free agent, despite never living up to his billing as a top-10 draft pick.

Rivers did not record a tackle or any other noteworthy stat in Sunday's win against the Vikings and only saw the field for seven defensive snaps.
It looks like rookie Preston Brown has overtaken Rivers for a starting outside linebacker job now that everyone is healthy. With just 16 tackles and no sacks on the season, Rivers is not worth owning in IDP formats.

Rivers (groin) is not included on the Bills' inactive list in advance of Sunday's game versus the Texans.
Rivers was limited during practice this week, but nonetheless, the veteran will be able to suit up Sunday to make his first appearance since Week 1. However, with rookie Preston Brown impressing lately, Rivers may be afforded some rest opportunities throughout Sunday's game in Houston.

Rivers (groin) participated on a limited basis Friday but is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Houston, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
With Preston Brown playing so well, Rivers may not be in for a full workload even if he's close to 100 percent and the Bills gave him the start, neither of which is set in stone yet. We'd avoid him for this one if you're looking for IDP help.
Wed Sep 24 201416:37Rivers (groin) limited at practice Wednesday
Rivers (groin) was limited at practice Wednesday, wgr550.com reports.
That said, the reports suggests that Rivers seems likely to be available Sunday against Houston, barring any setbacks as the week continues.

Rivers practiced on a limited basis for the third straight day Friday but is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
It sounds like rookie Preston Brown, who subbed in for an injured Rivers last week and performed quite capable, will continue to start while Rivers heals up.

Rivers (groin), who missed Sunday's win over Miami, returned to practice Wednesday but on a limited basis.
With rookie Preston Brown playing so well the Bills don't need to rush Rivers back into action, though his return gives the team more depth no matter whom they decide to roll as starters, though we've heard no word of Rivers losing his starting spot once he's healthy. Rivers had four tackles in the season-opening win.
Fri Sep 12 201412:24Rivers (groin) expected to miss at least two games
Rivers (groin) is expected to miss at least two games, according to ESPN.com.
The report suggests that Rivers, who did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, likely fits into the week-to-week category, which sets the stage for the Bills to go with a linebacking unit of Nigel Bradham, Brandon Spikes and rookie Preston Brown while Rivers is hurting.
Thu Sep 11 201413:44Rivers (groin) not practicing Thursday
Rivers (groin) is not practicing Thursday, Joe Buscaglia of WGR Radio reports.
Rivers missed practice Wednesday as well, so it's starting to look like the Bills may roll with a linebackers crew of Nigel Bradham, Brandon Spikes, and rookie Preston Brown when they take on the Dolphins on Sunday.
Wed Sep 10 201416:17Rivers did not practice Wednesday
Rivers, who suffered a groin injury during Sunday's win at Chicago, did not practice Wednesday, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Rivers starts at outside linebacker, though with fellow starter Nigel Bradham returning this week after being suspended in Week 1, the Bills wouldn't be too depleted at linebacker if Rivers has to miss a week. Rookie Preston Brown performed quite capably in Bradham's Week 1 absence, so one would think they'd just move him over to Rivers' spot if needed.

Rivers suffered a groin injury during Sunday's regular season opener and will not return, ESPN.com reports.
Rivers recorded four tackles (three solo) prior to exiting Sunday's contest. His absence leaves rookie seventh-rounder Randell Johnson to fill in for a very thin Bills' linebacking corp.

Rivers had six combined tackles during Saturday's preseason loss to Tampa Bay, two for a loss.
Rivers will start at strongside linebacker to begin the season. With Kiko Alonso out for the year and Nigel Bradham suspended for Week 1, he should see the field quite a bit when the Bills take on the Bears to kick off their campaign, and with decent play he'll likely hold the job all season.
Sat Jun 28 201417:43Bills LB Rivers 'locked into a starting role'
The Bills' website believes LB Keith Rivers is "locked into a starting role."
Rivers is expected to start at strong side linebacker, opposite Kiko Alonso. He should open the season in a two-down role, and is unlikely to play in any sub-packages. Ty Powell and third-round LB Preston Brown are candidates for snaps in Buffalo's nickel defense.

Thu Mar 14 201314:50Giants re-sign Keith Rivers
Giants re-signed LB Keith Rivers.
The ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft, Rivers has been a borderline-complete bust in the pros. Turning 27 in May, Rivers made six starts last season and racked up six special teams tackles. He'll battle for a roster spot in camp.

Giants LB Keith Rivers was involved in a car accident during New York's Week 11 bye.
"He had a car accident last week," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He is being evaluated. He bruised a knee. We hope that is all it is." Rivers has failed to crack the Giants' starting lineup this season. He sounds doubtful for Week 12.
