Sun Jul 28 201313:13Bob Sanders attends Broncos practice
Ex-Colts and Chargers S Bob Sanders attended Broncos training camp Sunday, sitting in the VIP tent and alongside coach John Fox.
As far as we know, Sanders never formally retired, though it's hard to imagine him attempting a comeback at age 32. Last we heard from Sanders, he was being placed on injured reserve by San Diego in September of 2011. He generated zero free agent buzz in 2012 or 2013. "Bullet Bob" spent eight years in the NFL.

Wed Sep 28 201116:33Chargers SS Bob Sanders' season already over
Chargers placed SS Bob Sanders (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
"It didn't work out for him or us, and we wish him the very best," said GM A.J. Smith. Sanders, 30, made just two appearances in his short-lived stint with San Diego. Signed to a one-year contract in the offseason, Sanders is an impending free agent and may begin considering retirement. Once a high-impact, Troy Polamalu kind of safety, Sanders' body has broken down.

Thu Aug 4 201120:38Chargers to only use Sanders on early downs?
The Chargers appear to be planning to use SS Bob Sanders on early downs only, replacing him in the nickel package with Steve Gregory.
It's an attempt to keep the brittle Sanders fresh. Gregory has played the "nickel safety" role before in San Diego's defense. The rotational approach will cap Sanders' IDP value, costing him big-play potential coming out on passing downs.

Wed Jul 27 201109:03Bob Sanders expected to start for SD
The Chargers plan on starting Bob Sanders at strong safety.
The terms of Sanders' incentive-laden contract was finalized Tuesday. He'll enter camp as the starter and stick there until he gets hurt. The Chargers are hoping to retain free agent free safety Eric Weddle to play next to Sanders.

Tue Mar 8 201109:27Bob Sanders' deal thought to be for minimum
Bob Sanders' one-year contract with the Chargers is believed to be "for the minimum ... plus incentives."
We've yet to see details because the transaction isn't official yet, but it likely contains per-game bonuses based on Sanders making the game-day roster healthy each week. The San Diego Union-Tribune's Nick Canepa believes Sanders can be the Bolts' next Rodney Harrison as a physical presence in the box. Assuming little money is guaranteed, it's a low-risk signing.

Thu Mar 3 201120:08Chargers swoop in to sign SS Bob Sanders
Chargers signed SS Bob Sanders to a one-year contract.
A bolt from the blue. Sanders had made visits to the Jets, Jags, and Bills, but the Chargers were never mentioned as an interested party. We're guessing the Chargers will still make it a priority to re-sign Eric Weddle at free safety, with Steve Gregory moving back to a nickel role. San Diego is a potential contender with a leadership vacuum on defense, so Sanders is worth the one-year gamble on what is likely an incentive-laden deal.

Wed Mar 2 201109:49Bob Sanders visiting with Jets on Wednesday
Free agent SS Bob Sanders is meeting with the Jets on Wednesday.
Sanders has already met with the Jaguars and Bills, passing a physical in Jacksonville. He makes sense for a veteran team like the Jets, expected to contend for the Super Bowl next season. If signed, Sanders likely would push Jim Leonhard to free safety, leaving Brodney Pool's future with the team in doubt.

Fri Feb 25 201114:35Bob Sanders passes physical for Jags
Coach Jack Del Rio confirmed Friday that free agent SS Bob Sanders passed his physical for the Jaguars.
Speaking at the Combine, Del Rio "didn't seem concerned about Sanders' future health." So far, the 30-year-old safety has met with the Bills and Jags, although no signing is known to be imminent. He's likely receiving one-year offers.

Tue Feb 22 201121:59Dungy: Sanders could return to Colts
Former coach Tony Dungy believes the Colts may get a chance to match any offer free agent Bob Sanders receives on the open market.
"They're going to let Bob test the market and see what the market will pay," Dungy said. Even if the Colts end up matching Sanders' highest offer, the new deal would be for much less than he was due to make before his release.

Tue Feb 22 201112:08Bob Sanders passed physical before release
The Florida Times Union reports that free agent SS Bob Sanders passed his physical before his release from the Colts.
Teams hosting Sanders for free agent visits are also giving him physicals, but the previous passed test suggests he'll be cleared. The 30-year-old met with the Jaguars on Monday and is in Buffalo vising the Bills today.

Mon Feb 21 201119:33Bills to host free agent S Sanders on Tuesday
The Bills will host free agent SS Bob Sanders on Tuesday.
Sanders met with the Jaguars on Monday, but they're letting him leave without a contract. The 30-year-old's visit to Buffalo likely indicates that the club does not plan to bring back free agent SS Donte Whitner. Sanders would play strong safety for the Bills, book ending third-year FS Jairus Byrd.

Mon Feb 21 201114:16Bills have some interest in Bob Sanders
The Bills have reportedly shown "some interest" in free agent SS Bob Sanders.
Incumbent SS Donte Whitner is pursuing a monster contract in free agency that we're betting he won't get. Sanders, 30, could be a fine stopgap solution, but in-house option George Wilson is more durable and might be just as effective if given an extended opportunity. Wilson, though, is also a free agent.

Mon Feb 21 201109:10Bob Sanders visiting with Jaguars Monday
Free agent SS Bob Sanders is visiting the Jaguars Monday.
As a released player, Sanders is free to sign with any team until the day before the March 4 lockout. Despite being a huge injury risk, the former Defensive Player of the Year would fit nicely in a woeful Jacksonville secondary that badly needs a talent infusion. Their current starters at safety are journeymen Courtney Greene and Don Carey and they ranked 28th against the pass a year ago.

Sun Feb 20 201112:34Sanders could end up with Vikings
The Vikings could be a possible landing spot for free agent SS Bob Sanders.
Madieu Williams and Husain Abdullah are far from entrenched as the Vikes' starting safeties, and HC Leslie Frazier served as Sanders' DBs coach in Indianapolis from 2005-06. Minnesota should be considered as likely as anybody to bring Sanders aboard this offseason.

Sat Feb 19 201117:19Pats may 'kick tires' on Bob Sanders
The Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport believes the Patriots may end up kicking the tires on free agent SS Bob Sanders.
He could be a shrewd signing for a Patriots team that already has two very talented safeties in Brandon Meriweather and Patrick Chung. However, the Pats also have one of the most disciplined front offices in all of pro sports, and likely won't be the high-bidders for the supremely talented but brittle Sanders.

Sat Feb 19 201109:19Sanders could remain in the AFC South
ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky believes recently released safety Bob Sanders could be a target for the Texans, Jaguars, and Titans.
It makes sense for Sanders to stay in the AFC South, as he knows the division and would get to square off against the Colts at least twice next season. The Texans and Jaguars both need help at the position, while the Titans could be looking to give starter Chris Hope some competition. It remains to be seen if any team is willing to give Saunders more than the league minimum.

Fri Feb 18 201108:59Colts hope to restructure Sanders' contract
Colts owner Jim Irsay hopes to work out a restructured deal with SS Bob Sanders by March 3.
Sanders' camp has acknowledged that his $5.5 million base salary will have to come down significantly after playing just nine games the past three years. "We've talked through a lot of different scenarios," said Irsay. "I can't say definitively what direction we're going there."

Tue Jan 18 201118:39Bob Sanders expected to restructure contract
Owner Jim Irsay suggested the Colts will restructure SS Bob Sanders' contract this offseason.
Sanders' agent, Tom Condon, acknowledged as much. "The guy doesn't play for three consecutive years, they're probably not real excited about that," reasoned Condon. "And they paid the other safety, what $6.5 million, this year." Sanders is due $5.5 million in 2011. That number will come down significantly.

Wed Dec 8 201017:29Colts place SS Sanders on injured reserve
Colts placed SS Bob Sanders (biceps surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.
One of the most injury-prone players in football at this point in his career, the 29-year-old Sanders lasted all of one game in 2010. On the books for a $5.5 million salary in 2011, he's not a strong bet to return to Indy.
