Bethea currently sits nine tackles ahead of his pace from last year's 86-tackle season. He has still yet to record an interception, but those will come. If he continues his tackling pace, he should restore his status as a top-tier IDP safety. |

Bethea led all 49ers with eight tackles (seven solo) and a sack in Monday's win over the Vikings. |
Bethea pick up where he left off last season, finishing near the top of the 49ers' tackle totals. The sack was a pleasant surprise, as he recorded one all of last year. Defensive coordinator Eric Mangini's blitz-heavy offense could result in more sacks than usual for the veteran safety. |

Bethea ended the 2014 on a quiet note, recording just four tackles (all solo) in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. |

The 86 tackles were below his career-average of 100.8, but the four interceptions matched a career-high. Bethea is under contract through 2018, so he should continue to rack up the tackles and interceptions for the 49ers next season. |

The tackles are a little bit under his career averages in Indianapolis, but the four picks ties a career-high. Bethea entered Week 4 with 13 tackles (12 solo), but he took kindly to the Eagles, forcing two turnovers (one interception and one fumble), while racking up a season-best seven solo stops. He fended off his current ankle issue to put up the preceding line, meaning his reduced reps are likely precautionary in nature. |

Bethea (concussion) was seen practicing without a non-contact jersey Tuesday, indicating that he has passed his concussion tests, CSN Bay Area reports. |
Bethea was knocked out of the 49ers' second preseason game with a concussion, but it appears that he is over the concussion symptoms he was experiencing. There is no reason for the team to play him in Thursday's final preseason game, so we will likely see Bethea suit up for the 49ers' season-opener against Dallas. |

Tue Mar 11 2014 | 16:41 | 49ers replace Whitner with S Antoine Bethea |
49ers signed S Antoine Bethea to a four-year, $26 million contract. |
Bethea will be asked to step in and fill hard-hitting Donte Whitner's shoes. He's definitely capable, but isn't a bone-crushing hitter and is coming off a down year that saw him struggle in coverage. Still, the 29-year-old Bethea is a nice complement to second-year FS Eric Reid. He's an all-around player. |

The Sacramento Bee is "hearing" free agent S Antoine Bethea is a "possibility" for the 49ers. |
The Niners are trying to replace Donte Whitner. Bethea doesn't pack the punch of "Hitner," but is a savvy veteran who isn't a liability in any particular area. He's be a solid starter and strong mentor for sophomore FS Eric Reid. |

Wed Feb 5 2014 | 20:41 | Bethea expected to be prioritized by Colts |
ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells expects the team to prioritize re-signing free agent FS Antoine Bethea. |
Having spent his entire career with Indianapolis, Wells considers Bethea the "backbone of the secondary." Bethea turns 30 before next season, but is still playing at a reasonably high level and the Colts lack a viable in-house replacement. Pro Football Focus gave Bethea a positive 2013 run defense grade, but considered him slightly sub-par in coverage. Bethea is Rotoworld's No. 4 free agent safety, behind Jairus Byrd, T.J. Ward, and Donte Whitner. |

Tue Feb 4 2014 | 09:48 | Bethea has expressed desire to re-sign |
The Indianapolis Star reports free agent FS Antoine Bethea has expressed a desire to re-sign with the Colts. |
This is our first blurb on Bethea in nearly four years. He's been the model of consistency. Bethea, 29, has produced over 100 tackles in five of the past six seasons and hasn't missed a game since 2007. He just wrapped up a four-year, $27 million contract and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 53 safety. He and SS LaRon Landry are similar players as in-the-box safeties, so it's fair to wonder if the Colts will opt to go after a centerfield-type free safety. |

Bethea will get $18 million over the first two years of the deal. He becomes one of the disgruntled restricted free agents that actually gets the long-term deal he wanted. A two-time Pro Bowler, Bethea is one of the unsung rocks in Indy's defense. Even more will be expected out of him as he enters his prime with this deal. |
